“I Will Knock You” Series Review (Ep. 1 to 12)

If you’re looking for a Boy’s Love story that will hold your attention and provide you with countless opportunities for humor, I think this one is the one for you.

Let me begin by giving you a brief overview of this series. So, we have a young college student named Thi who got into trouble after defending one of his tutees from these high school gangsters loitering around them. Thi challenges Noey, who is the group’s leader. Numerous interactions between the two lead Noey to believe that Thi might have a crush on him, but Thi consistently refutes all of Noey’s claims. However, they were unaware of the changes they were already undergoing as the cat-and-mouse relationship continued.

I’ve seen a lot of stories where a student or tutee falls in love with one of their tutors, and the setting usually takes place in a classroom. As a result, while I was watching this one, I already had theories about how it would turn out. However, what actually happened was that it completely confused me. What I mean is that a number of unforeseen events occurred throughout the course of the series. This series is comparable to Director Champ’s earlier creations (the director of 2gether and Kiss Me Again). My excitement during 2gether series era was brought back by the way this story flows. How does this one varies from the others, since they are all about Boys’ Love? Well, the theme is important. Now, being aware that gangsters and other students are involved, I was curious to see how it all turns out. It was hilarious to witness Thi experiencing a lot of misfortune because of Noey; it seemed as though he was being forced to do something against his will. However, Thi subsequently realizes that he is slowly falling for loves Noey. Although Noey, the Watphlu Gang’s well-known leader, directs the group to many gang fights, they also donate to the temple and provide community services there.

Through the gang’s attire and Noey’s musical preferences, the series conveys a classical aesthetic. The portrayal of temples serves to highlight Thai culture in sensible ways. Noey has a low level of digital orientation due to his disinterest in gadgets and a preference for more traditional customs. This amply demonstrates integration over time (connecting the old and modern generation). Earlier episodes of the series focus solely on learning each other’s whereabouts and personality traits. This interest developed into love at the precise moment that Noey’s mother recruits Thi to be his tutor.

Furthermore, I want to emphasize how this series makes my heart skip a beat! I’m referring to Episode 11, where Noey casually mentions pursuing Pam after Thi leaves for Chiang Mai. Noey has consistently followed through on all the tasks he wrote down in his notebook concerning wooing Thi ever since he made the decision to court him seriously. Since the episode ended that way, I was startled by Thi’s decision. I instantly recalled all of Noey’s efforts, which were hampered by Thi’s parents. If I had to comment on how the events unfolded up until the final episode, I would say that it lacked focus on the part of Thi’s parents, all that is left out is the information that Thi’s parents did not like Noey, if ever there will be a part 2 of this series, I guess it will focus more on winning Thi’s parents and showing all the struggles that Noey’s faced. Noey’s devotion to his gang is also admirable, particularly when he got into a fight with Thiw (his best friend) over his desire to leave the group. I admire their friendship because it exemplifies how crucial it is to resolve conflicts as soon as possible, especially when it involves someone close to you. A major plus point is the cinematography as well. I enjoyed how they create a nostalgic environment. The house that Noey lives in is like any other dwelling. I adore how relatable and genuine everything appears to be.

Noey and Thi’s story is full of chaos and sweetness. You can never predict how things will go. Despite being feared, I can’t dispute that Noey uses a lot of cheesy words that directly aim at Thi’s weak point. Who would have expected that the most anticipated event would occur in the final chapter? I appreciate how Noey puts in so much effort and finishes his education to earn the right to be with Thi. The support Noey received from his family in all of his endeavors is a breath of fresh air. You definitely shouldn’t miss I Will Knock You series! Although the composition and organization of the story may have some areas that might be improved, it is still a decent recommendation.

Rating – 4 out of 5

  1. I loved the series. The final two episodes almost felt as though they were from another series. I assume that is what you mean by “I would say that it lacked focus…” So lovable anyway including Noey’s scene where he makes up with his gang.
