Happy Merry Ending

South Korea is on a roll. For every two BL series that wrap up two more air, and next on the lineup is ‘Happy Merry Ending’. The series, starring Lee Dong Won and Byeon Seong, is adapted from the Webtoon of the same name by Do-Rae, and is described as a Romantic Comedy. ‘Happy Merry Ending’ will premiere on April 27th 2023.

The plot follows a wedding host (Jae Yon) and a singer/part time music teacher (Seung Jun). They meet for the first time at a wedding. Their personalities don’t seem to align but Jae Yons upbeat and talkative nature eventually wears down the stoic singer.

Our Skyy 2

An eight-part anthology series that continues the stories of Tian and Phupha (A Tale of Thousand Stars), Pran and Pat (Bad Buddy), Khabkluen and Daonuea (Star in My Mind), Nuendiao and Palm (Never Let Me Go), Cher and Gun (A Boss and a Babe), Talay and Puen (Vice Versa), Akk and Ayan (The Eclipse), and Tinn and Gun (My School President). Our Skyy is expected to air on April 19th 2023.

‘Never Let Me Go’ is the first story to unfold, and it seems the producers of Our Skyy are sticking to the supernatural theme as the trailer implies the main characters will travel through time. The story opens up with Nuengdiao returning from abroad, his boyfriend Palm is waiting at the airport with a sign that reads ‘WELCOME BACK MY BOYFRIEND’. Their happiness is short lived as a group of men attack them and attempt to take their lives. Palm wakes up from the ordeal in the past presumably. Maybe it’s a dream or maybe it’s time travel, we have to watch to find out.

Where Your Eyes Linger

A movie version of the Korean BL Drama will be released soon, re-edited by renowned director Hwang Da-Seul. The movie stars Han Gi-Chan and Jang Eui Soo. ‘Where Your Eyes Linger’ is one of the series that broke the barrier for the BL industry in S. Korea and fans were disappointed when the two lead actors fell apart after filming the original series in 2020. But fences have been mended and both are actively promoting this new project. The movie will be released in Korean cinemas first; international fans will have to stay tuned for more details.

Synopsis:

Han Tae-Joo, an 18-year-old student and successor to the TB Group. Blessed with a wealthy family, good looks and popularity, he has very few worries. Kang Gook, his childhood friend, is physically strong and trained in different martial arts disciplines. Tae Joo is Kang Gooks only friend. Tae Joo trusts Kang Gook and feels at ease around him. Tension erupts between them when a new female student, Hye Mi, shows interest in Kang Gook.

VIP Only

Vidol is on a mission this year to release four BL series back-to-back. The Taiwanese based company recently wrapped up filming ‘Stand by Me’ and they have immediately started filming their second project ‘VIP Only’. The series stars Stan Huang and Chen Xuan.

Synopsis:

Gu Jin owns a noodle shop, he opens the shop at whatever time he wants. And whenever the shop opens there’s always a customer ready to grab a seat in the corner. The customer’s name is Liu Lu, he’s a writer and he likes to go on dates in the noddle shop. It turns out he dates just to collect writing materials. One day Gu Jin witnesses Liu Lu getting dumped inside his noodle shop and he decides to take Liu Lu on a date, the age gap between them is obvious but it doesn’t stop them from getting closer.

The Hidden Character

Earlier this year ‘Be On Cloud’ announced they had recruited 3 new generation actors at an IQIYI event. The 3 new actors alongside 8 other BOC artists will be starring in a reality show, the first one of its kind under this company. ‘The Hidden Character’ is a survival show wherein the two winners will get a chance to star in an original ‘Be On Cloud’ series next year. Mile Phakphum, star of ‘KinnPorsche’ the series will be the showrunner. ‘The Hidden Character’ will air on April 22nd 2023 on ChOne31 and IQIYI.

Love Mate

Studio Winsome, the same production house that gave us ‘Our Dating Sim’ is releasing a new BL series, much to the dismay of millions of fans who expected ‘Our Dating Sim’ to have a second season.

Synopsis:

‘Love Mate’ is an office romance starring Cho Han-Gyeol and Cho Hyun-Min. The story depicts Seo Yi Joon, the team leader at ‘So What Media’ who was hurt once before and doesn’t believe in love anymore. Everything changes when he meets Jung Ha-Ram, a newcomer to the company who he decides to date for 3 months.

The series is set to premier 4th May 2023.

House of Stars

This series has been in the works for quite some time, but finally Star Halo released the official trailer and the premiere date. ‘House of Stars’ is the first BL project under this production house. The series stars Numchok Tanon, Heng Thatpong, Double Tuptep and New Akaravin.

Synopsis:

The series will follow Wayha (Heng Thatpong) a good looking young man with a provincial accent who pursues his dreams in the House of Stars, here he meets and falls in love with Wayu (Namchok Thanon). But love is forbidden in the House of Stars. On the other hand, Double Tupthep will play Pawin, an LGBTQ actor who falls in love at first sight with Korn (New Akaravin) an actor from another company.

Stormy Honeymoon

Vietnamese based production company RL Studio has announced the sequel to ‘The Stars Always Follow You’. The series will star Hao Dan, Ngoan Truong, Ly ThanhChi and Ton That Tam Duc.

Synopsis:

The story follows two couples that have been together for some time and seem to be going through troubled waters. Taking each other for granted, not treating each other well, letting themselves go and bouts of jealousy. Will they fight to stay together?

Let’s Eat Together

Ryotaro Akazawa and Kensune Takahashi will star in a movie adaptation of the BL manga ‘Let’s Eat Together Aki and Haru’. The movie will be released on June 2nd 2023 in Japanese cinemas first, international fans will have to stay tuned for further details.

Synopsis:

The series depicts the heartwarming daily lives of college students and roommates Aki and Haru. The two are inseparable, which has earned them the nickname ‘Zero-Distance’. They usually enjoy meals together, Aki is a good cook and works hard to make delicious food for Haru. Their days are spent together, cooking, eating and worrying about the future.

Kemjira Will Survive

An upcoming Thai BL Series adapted from the novel of the same name, Calilnwza’s “Kemjira Will Survive” is a horror fantasy romance. Arn Book (publisher of Kemjira Will Survive) issued an official statement congratulating the author announcing its adaptation.

Synopsis-

Khem was born into a cursed family where the male children die after they turn 20. His mother gave him a girl’s name”khemjira” which means safe forever, and he believed that untill his 19th Birthday when he decides to seek out a Shaman to help save him.
