Stupid Genius

RL Studio has announced a new BL project called ‘Thien Tai Hang Bet’, or simply ‘Stupid Genius’. RL is a Vietnam based company, and their previous works include ‘The Stars Always Follow You’ and ‘Stormy Honeymoon’. The drama stars up and coming actor’s Thu Koa, The Vinh, Huynh Kha and Gia Hoang. Tuong Minh Thao from 02 Productions ‘Mr. Cinderella’ will also be joining the cast. The series is described as a high-teen romance set in high school, all other information has been kept under wraps but it is expected to be released this year.

Star Struck

‘Star Struck’ is following the typical Korean BL drama format, 8 episodes and eventually a movie adaptation. The series is based on Han Tae Jins novel of the same name and will star Zuho and Kim In-Sung. The drama tells the story of Jo Yoo-Jae and Seo Han-Joon who have been close friends since childhood. Seo Han-Joon is secretly in love with Yoo-Jae, but he made a decision a long time ago never to let his friend know his true feelings. One day he realizes he can no longer keep this secret and it all comes rushing out. Star Struck airs on May 18th 2023 and will be available on IQIYI in select regions only including; Korea, Canada, UK, USA, and Taiwan. Will also be streaming on Viki.

Papa What Is Love? – Season 2

The first season of ‘Papa What Is Love?’ was released in 2022. It stars Arnold Reyes, Rex Lantano and Anthony Flores. It depicts a middle aged divorced man, Richard, who has been living alone since the end of his marriage. His son insists he hires a helper around the house so he doesn’t have to be alone, after many failed applicants, he finds the perfect young lad called Tupe. Despite their age difference, the two realize they’re very comfortable around each other and find themselves crossing the line between normal employee-employer relations. Tensions arise when Richards son, Greg, returns home and finds himself growing attached to Tupe as well. The first season can be watched on Youtube (Cut) and GagaOOLala (Uncut). Season two will have new cast members and a whole new storyline. Stay tuned for further information.

The Love Ring – Season 2

Fantastica’s short film ‘The Love Ring’ is coming back with a sequel. The prequel was released late last year and it depicts a young boy, Zhe Khant, who was accused of being a thief while also experiencing frequent supernatural events. Luckily he has an older friend, Plann, who convinces him that he is not supernatural. There is a tug of war between love and morality, which will win in the end?

Love in Translation

Channel ONE31 in collaboration with ATime26 will be releasing a new series soon called ‘Love in Translation’, starring LAZ1 members Offroad Kantapon and Daou Pittaya. The story follows two men, Yang and Poomjai, who are chasing big dreams and aspirations. One wants the woman of his dreams, the other wants the business of his dreams. They agree to help each other attain their hearts desire and in the process unexpected emotions come into play.

City of Angels

Chinese Danmei novel ‘City of Angels’ has been licensed for a drama/movie adaptation, this project may possibly be the first China-Thailand collaboration as the novel features Chinese Characters but most of the story occurs in Thailand.

Synopsis:

Gong is a playboy. In fact, he has a game where he flips a coin every day and whosoever lands on heads will be his boyfriend for a day. Shou has just landed in Thailand for a holiday when he meets Gong, falling in love instantly. But Gong doesn’t believe in love and just wants to play around with Shou. Upon his return to China, Shou finds that he still can’t forget Gong. So he learns Thai, passes the university entrance exams in Chiang Mai, and goes back to Thailand to find Gong. Shou advances bravely to get the love he has always wanted.

Universe of Love

Jumdee Film, the production house behind ‘My Boy’ the series has released a trailer for their upcoming series titled ‘Universe of Love’ starring up and coming actors Tempo Jirawit, Vee Weerapong, Kong Ponsakorn and Keaw Areerat. The drama follows a young man who is willing to sacrifice everything for the person he loves the most. But he soon comes to learn that no matter how much we want to keep that person, when the time comes, we can only keep them in our memories. Does true love even exist at all?

The Star – Season 2

Myanmar based production company, Trust Entertainment, will be releasing a sequel to their BL short film ‘The Star’. Season 1 was the tragic tale of Rachel and Kyal. Rachel is a rich heir and Kyal is a barista. Rachel’s mother schemes to separate them, she cajoles them into getting a surrogate so Rachel can have a baby. Later, she uses the same surrogate to keep them apart. Rachel falls into the trap and he stops seeing Kyal. Season 1 ends just as Rachel is breaking up with Kyal via text and Kyal is hit by a car. Season 2 will pick up where season 1 left off.
