July has come with a few changes, mainly in terms of delivery of news. We just wanted to take this time to remind you that whether you are on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Threads, you can count on ‘The BL Xpress’ to be there. Without further ado here’s what’s been happening in the BL universe this week.
Sex Education – Season 4

Netflix has unveiled the trailer for the upcoming and final season of “Sex Education”. This drama will go down in the history as one that sets the bar for nuanced portrayals of queer teens. Whether lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual or pansexual, “Sex Education” aimed to address different types of sexuality in an engrossing and hilarious manner. Bittersweet as it always is to say goodbye, don’t be too sad, because the creators promise Otis and the rest of the gang will get a proper send off. Season 4 skips forward a couple of months, Maeve is in America, which is where we left her on the bus, going off to study. The Moordale Secondary students are starting at a new school called Cavendish College, which is very different from Moordale. It’s very progressive and woke, and it makes the Moordale students feel like they’re little fish in a big pond. Here Otis will have to deal with a rival sex therapist. Season 4 will premiere on September 21st 2023.
Seven Days Before Valentine
Patrick Rangsimants Supernatural horror novel will be adapted into a TV series by the producers of ‘180 Degree The Series’. The show is expected to be released in November, this teaser is the first look we’ve had into the show since filming began. The story follows a young man who has just been dumped by his long-time boyfriend. Heartbroken, he expects cupid to shoot him with an arrow so he can find love again. But fate is not that kind, instead of Cupid, fate sends him a reaper. The reaper cannot help him find love but he can kill people instead, anyone who stands in the way of his true love. 7 Nights, 7 lives, 7 Deaths.

Night Dream
Rookie Thailand, the production company behind “Love Mechanics” is set to release their latest project this summer titled ‘Night Dream’. The series stars Ohm Thanakrit & Toosafe Krittawat. The story portrays two friends who once had a misunderstanding when they were younger. They meet again near the end of their college days. Will this meeting bring them as close as they were before?
Studio Wabi – Sabi (Wabi House)
Studio Wabi Sabi is a content provider and an artist management company in Thailand. They have produced notable BL series like “Love By Chance”, “Until We Meet Again”, “Between Us”, “Dear Doctor: I’m Coming For Soul”, and “My Only 12%%. On July 4th 2023 Studio Wabi Sabi introduced their next generation of artists, a few of them have already appeared in BL projects already! The new artists you can expect to see in upcoming Studio Wabi Sabi projects are Methaphat Chimkul (Tonliew), Panachkorn Rueksiriaree (Stamp), Saranvut Nittayasuthi (Pie) from “Restart(ed)” and “Moments Of Love”, Pasatorn Lertsathitwong (Golf) and Suradet Piniwat (Bas), former Star Hunter Entertainment artist, from “2 Moons” and “Gen Y”.
The New Employee – Movie
Following the success of the TV series, ‘The New Employee: The Movie’ was released at the 24th Jeonju International Film Festival last month. It stars model-turned-actor Kwon Hyuk and Moon Ji Yong from Idol Romance’s “Once Again”.
Synopsis:
On the first day of his internship, the bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Seunghyun (Moon Ji Yong) meets his workaholic manager Jongchan (Kwon Hyuk). Seunghyun immediately falls in love with the handsome and perfect Jongchan at first sight. Seunghyun tries his best, but it’s his first time interning at a company and dating — at the same time! Will things eventually go as planned? Or will chaos ensue? ‘The New Employee: The Movie’ premieres on August 3rd 2023 at local cinemas in South Korea. For international fans, it will be streaming soon in selected regions on Viki.

Monochrome
An upcoming movie from WayuFilm Production which is slated to be released later this month. The project will feature up-and-coming actors Praphat Paramee and Natapakun Vitteyatananuwat. The story portrays ‘White’, a young man whose world has been black and white. He sees love from for the first time from ‘Shield’, who brings colours into his world. ‘Monochrome’ premieres on July 25th at 7 PM GMT+7 on Wayufilm’s official YouTube channel, for members only
My Momentary Wish
This is an upcoming short film thesis work from the students majoring in film and photography from Thammasat University’s Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication. The project stars Bonzai Panachai and Xinweer Wutthimeth from Artop Media’s web series ‘My Roommate’. Not a lot of information has been released regarding this short film but what we do know so far is that it centres around a young man and a spirit, and it will premiere on July 16th 2023.
The Star – Season 2
The Star Season 2’ was originally scheduled to be released in June, however due to unforeseen circumstances, Trust Entertainment postponed the air date to July 15th 2023 on Trust entertainments official YouTube Channel. Actors Myo Mg and J Yaung reprise their roles as Kyal and Saw, this season will also introduce new actors: Min Thant, Ti Min Khant, and Su Myat Mon. In the upcoming sequel, expect “fights”, “drama”, “love”, and “confusion” between the characters. That is all that has been revealed about the project but we are curious to see whether these newly introduced characters will bring love or trouble to the mix.
Senior Love Me
A two-part short film produced by Whodo Studio, which is known for their short “Scars in the Heart”, It stars rookie actors Tango Natthavat and Boom Tanakit. The project follows Bam, a young man who lands a job working at a café with his long time crush, Mike. ‘Senior Love Me’ was a surprise release and it aired on YouTube on Friday 7th July 2023.
Twilight Out Of Focus
Japanese BL manga will be made into a TV animation. The series is a coming-of-age ensemble drama depicting the love affairs of high school boys in Midorigaoka High Schools film club.
Synopsis:
Second-years Mao Tsuchiya and Hisashi Otomo make three promises: 1) That Mao will never tell anyone that Hisashi is gay and has a boyfriend, 2) That Hisashi will never think of Mao “in that way,” and 3) That they’ll always knock before entering, in case someone is having some “private time.” The two’s ground rules should ensure a peaceful life together in their dorm, but life is never as simple as it should be, and some things are not so easily promised.
Wedding Plan
Me Mind Y’s next project ‘Wedding Plan’ is a TV series adaptation of MAME’s novel of the same name. The author also wrote ‘TharnType’, ‘Don’t Say No’, and ‘Love in the Air’, which all received great reception from fans. The story focuses on the arranged marriage between Sunny and Aya. Both are forced to choose between duty and their Hearts when it’s revealed that Yiwa already has a lover, Kate, and Sunny falls In love with the wedding planner Pak.

Laws of Attraction
The much anticipated drama starring Jam Rachata and Film Thanapat is almost here. Prior to its release, the production company released character profiles and a new trailer to keep the fans on their toes. The drama follows the story between a broken-hearted teacher who has just lost his niece in an accident and a cold-hearted lawyer who thrives to uphold justice.
The story will highlight the horrible realities of the society in which we live. Through it all, an unexpected romance will develop between the two leads Tinn and Chan. Will justice prevail? “Laws Of Attraction” is set to premiere on July 15th and will air every Saturday at 8:15 PM GMT+7 on local TV station One 31.
