Due to the ongoing actors and writers strikes in the west, a lot of shows in Hollywood have been postponed indefinitely or even worse, cancelled. This is the chance for Asian content to shine, to show the world what they can really do. Boys Love is just one of the genres that the masses can flock to. So cross your fingers and pray that the upcoming projects really represent. This week was a bit quiet but no doubt things will pick up soon:
Love In The Big City
Actors Kim Go-eun and Noh Sang-hyun have been tapped to star in a feature film adaptation of “Love in the Big City,” Park Sang-young’s bestselling novel. The Korean actress, Kim Go Eun is famous for playing lead roles in K-dramas such as ‘Guardian: The Lonely and Great God’ and ‘The King: Eternal Monarch’. Whereas, Noh Sang Hyun aka Steve Sanghyun, is a Korean-American actor and model seen in ‘Dopojarak: Story of Homme the K-Wanderer’ and ‘Pachinko’.
Synopsis:
Young is a cynical yet fun-loving Korean student who pinballs from home to class to the beds of recent Tinder matches. He and Jaehee, his female best friend and roommate, frequent nearby bars where they push away their anxieties about their love lives, families, and money with rounds of soju and ice-cold Marlboro Reds that they keep in their freezer. Yet over time, even Jaehee leaves Young to settle down, leaving him alone to care for his ailing mother and to find companionship in his relationships with a series of men, including one whose handsomeness is matched by his coldness, and another who might end up being the great love of his life.
Papa What Is Love Season 2
The sequel to the 2022 Pinoy BL series starring Rex Lantano, Arnold Reyes and Anthony Flores. Season 1 portrays Rich, a middle aged man who hires a house helper called Tupe. Rich falls for Tupe and they eventually start dating. While he is away on business, Tupe falls in love with his son Greg. Not only that but Rich walks in on them in each other arms. Season 2 will pick up after the events of season 1, when Rich has accepted Greg and Tupe as a couple.

AVERY PIE’s Novel “#ปลื้มคนโปรด” will be adapted into a TV series under maximon entertainment. The cast members have been revealed and it looks like Kimmon Warodom (Gen Y) and Kut Tanawat (Chains Of Heart) will play the lead roles.

Sing My Crush
Myung Films Korean BL drama ‘Follow The Wind’ has been renamed and an air date has been revealed. The drama will star Jang Do Yoon and Son Hyun Woo and will have its exclusive release on iQIYI starting August 2nd 2023.
Synopsis:
Ba-Ram & Han-tae became close after an incident that happened at the music academy. Now they are adults, Ba-Ram is in a band and Han-Tae is the band manager. They remain close friends even though Ba-Rams heart moved past friendship long ago.

Kiseki (Thailand) – Chapter 1
9Naa Channel, the production house behind ‘Checkout Series’ has an upcoming project called ‘Kiseki’. The project will be filmed in Japan and is divided into different chapters, each with a different cast and a different story. Chapter 1 portrays Cheque, a Thai boy who travelled to Japan with his friend Todd to study. Cheque is having a hard time defining his relationship with Todd because the lines between friend and boyfriend are often blurred.

GMMTV has announced that Gemini Norawit and Fourth Nattawat will no longer be taking part in the series ’23.5’. This is due to changes in the storyline and characters. This change is also intended to give the actors time to prepare for a new series that will feature them both. While this series is technically a GL series, Gemini and Fourth were cast to play the side couple, North and Night.
Holland to star in new BL series
South Korean singer Holland is filming another BL series which will be out soon. No other details regarding the project have been shared, but the pictures suggest it is a high school romance. Holland previously played the lead in ‘Ocean Likes Me’ in 2022 alongside Han Gi-Chan.

‘The Final Couple in the Dating Program’ is a web drama starring Hokeep and Kim Chan-Kyu from the first season of South Korea’s gay dating reality show ‘His Man’. The drama depicts two young men who joined a gay dating reality show and ended up becoming the final couple, now celebrating their first anniversary through a couples vlog. Team Campy Entertainment, the production house behind Pinoy BL series ‘Stay’ proudly announces their new project which is a follow-up story to the one that just concluded. ‘Asking For a Friend’ is described as a heart-warming, slice-of-life romantic-comedy series that’s sure to touch the hearts of anyone who has fallen in love.
UniverSad
An unreleased novel written by Patrick Rangsimant will be adapted into a series next year. The novel titled ‘UniverSad’ is a neuro-fantasy romantic story set in a Culinary-Science school. Currently Patrick Rangsimant seems to be in high demand as he has sold the rights to 5 of his novels, all of which will seemingly be produced in the 2023-2024 window. No other details have been given regarding ‘UniverSad’ but the author has expressed his wish to release the novel before the series airs.
