Is it possible to wish someone well while wanting that happiness for yourself?
Mame’s new Boys’ Love series “Wedding Plan” poses this very question. Acting as sort of sequel to the 2022’s “Love in the Air”, “Wedding Plan” begins at the wedding of the second couple, Prapai (Fort Thitipong) and Sky (Peat Wasuthorn). Wedding planner Nuea (Pak Naphat) wistfully watches over the beautiful ceremony that he has organized. Unaware that he was being watched by a mysterious, handsome man.
The series is made for hopeless romantics and is unabashedly proud of it because the wedding planning is all juxtaposed with the romantic comedy that this show is; silliness with a precision for timing that most shows don’t own. It could be Nuea’s introspective talks about anything from hot guys to his actions and/or conflicts of interests. Two episodes down the line, the show is yet to tackle anything too serious. It’s interesting how the series creates such intriguing situations while never being too dramatic.
That in no way is a negative towards the show, quite the opposite, as I feel it achieves the goal that many failed shows could not. Nuea spies the sexy Salom (Sunny Wannarat) while he is eating at McDonald’s. Salom happens to be the perfect man for Nuea based on his visual considerations for a man. But the universe has an unimaginable sense of humor as Salom and his fiance, Yiwa (Aya Orapan), turn out to be his new clients. To make matters hilariously worse, Salom seems to have it out for Nuea. Teasing him mercilessly and enjoys frustrating him “obliviously”.

The chemistry between all the actors is quite exciting, as the script creates a false image of Salom and Yiwa as a loving couple, but by the end of the episode it’s clear Salom has his heart set on Nuea. Much to my surprise, Yiwa is not only aware of Salom’s desire, but also very supportive of his choices. Unlike “Love By Chance” and “Tharntype”, who somehow managed to make university life a muted, overdramatic drab chore for the eyes; the colors and vibrant detail given to almost every scene and setting of “Wedding Plan” matches the show’s synergy perfectly.
The second episode maintains the light tone of the pilot episode easily, as we watch Nuea try to work with Salom, who makes himself available while keeping Yiwa away. Episode one explains that all wedding decisions will be made by him and Yiwa has no problems with the same. Salom, to his credit, is less teasing this time as he has seen firsthand that Nuea desires him as well. The show then switches POV’s to Yiwa and her “friend” Marine (Katie Sasisarun). Marine is Yiwa’s secret girlfriend, and she isn’t happy with the situation Yiwa created by agreeing to be Salom’s pretend bride. The wide shots versus close ones work well to introduce Marine, but also show how much Yiwa cares about her. Again the script shines by using their proximity and quite a few similar moments to showcase where Salom’s heart lies while not detailing the situation behind this wedding farce.

Adding to this mayhem are Nuea’s boss, his crazy coworkers and their ridiculous antics to learn what new secrets Nuea is keeping, Salom’s unique form of courtship, and you have the makings of a wonderful yet fun-filled BL.
I’m giving it full ratings for being fun from start to finish; also because Salom is ostentatiously shameless. By the end of the second episode, you will see why.
