We’re in the depths of 2023, but the arrival of new and returning BL TV shows is unrelenting. Here’s what we’ve got to look forward to for this week.

Love Sick The Series

If you ask avid bl fans what their first BL series was, most will tell you it was ‘Lovesick’. Lovesick is well known for being the first and probably the most popular bl series ever made. Many look upon it with fond nostalgia. So, it was with great surprise when TIA51 announced that they will be recreating the legendary series. TIA51 is about to air ‘My Universe the Series’, the biggest Thai BL production ever made. The project will air for 6 months and will feature 12 stories and 11 couples, so its safe to say TIA51 are ambitious if not daring.

Synopsis:

Noh is need of a higher school budget for his school club, or he will be in huge trouble. Punn, the school president, needs a fake boyfriend to keep his sister and father off his back. Punn asks Noh to become his fake boyfriend in exchange for helping Noh raise funds for his music club. The two 17-year-old high school boys eventually fall in love after the deal brings them closer together.

I Can’t Reach You

Japanese BL drama ‘I Can’t Reach You’ starring Kentaro Maeda and Kashiwagi Haru will premiere on 26th September 2023. The story depicts the frustrations and conflicts of two childhood friends who are attracted to each other but cannot convey it. One is cool, intelligent and good at almost everything. The other is dorky and struggles to do anything right. They are always at each other’s side, but not in the way they truly want to be. No matter how hard they try, their hearts cannot reach each other.

Naughty Babe

The trailer for Max and Nats upcoming series ‘Naughty Babe’ has finally been revealed. The story portrays Thacha Wongtheerawit, who is engaged to Phayak Chatdecha Chen because of a mutually beneficial business agreement. Thacha is left alone on the engagement day and he’s left alone when he moves into Hia Yis place. As the wedding ceremony approaches, he has to deal with everything alone. As the distress is no longer bearable, Thacha decides to flee from the future wedding to Switzerland, not suspecting Hia Yi will try to catch up with him and get into a car accident. What’s more, Hia Yi loses his memory when he wakes up and accuses Thacha of being the one despising the idea of getting married. Will these two ever find common ground?

Absolute Zero

The producers of ‘Untill We Meet Again’ are back with a new series that is sure to have us reaching for the tissues. The series will star Tor Supakorn, Mix Wanut, Toey Puwanat and Teng Kanist.

Synopsis:

Suansoon and Ongsa are boyfriends. Ongsa got into a serious accident because he was rushing back to celebrate Suansoon’s birthday with him. Suansoon blamed himself and prayed that if he could get back to the past, he would not get together with Ongsa. Suansoon found himself in the past and warned Ongsa (high school age) about the future but Ongsa didn’t believe him and became boyfriends with Suansoon anyway. Ten years later, one day before the accident, Ongsa from the future came back to tell his younger self to not avoid the accident, because Suansoon will die if he does. Ongsa let the accident happen. He woke up again in the past where he met Suansoon for the first time. This time Ongsa decided to change the future and didn’t approach Suansoon.

Bright Vachirawit Chivaaree, lead actor from 2gether The Series, F4: Thailand and many other works revealed in a recent interview that he will be departing from GMMTV after his contract expires in two days. He thanked GMMTV for the past 5 years and hopes that his fans will support his future works.

Maestro

Maestro is an upcoming American biographical drama film that centers on the relationship between American composer Leonard Bernstein. The iconic conductor and composer who had sex with men and women during his lifetime. The Jewish conductor won 16 Grammy Awards, seven Emmy Awards, and two Tony Awards. He was well-known for the Broadway musical ‘West Side Story’. He died in 1990 at 72 years old in New York City. Netflix has described the film as “a love letter to life and art, Maestro at its core is an emotionally epic portrayal of family and love.” Maestro is set to premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival. The film is scheduled for limited theatrical release on November 22, 2023 before streaming on Netflix on December 20, 2023.

Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey play Hawk Fuller and Tim Laughlin, two men who meet while working in Washington, D.C., at the start of McCarthyism. They fall in love. For Hawk, this means living an existence of discipline and barriers, hiding who he is so he can build a life working in the government. For Tim, it means losing his career and finding a path that allows him to follow his truth. In order to survive, Hawk and Tim form a chosen family with two other gay men swept up in the big political and cultural changes happening: journalist Marcus Hooks (Jelani Alladin) and drag-queen-turned-activist Frankie Hines (Noah J. Ricketts). Throughout the four decades covered in the series, the four men come back into each other’s lives when things get hardest. The series will premiere on October 27, 2023 on Showtime.

Notes Of Autumn

There is a new LGBTQ+ rom-com from Hallmark featuring Luke Macfarlane and Peter Porte! The film features the character of Leo (Macfarlane), a successful author who is experiencing a tough writer’s block. Feeling the pressure to finish the new installment of his popular series of books, Leo swaps homes with his best friend, Ellie (played by Ashley Williams), for a period of time. During his stay at Ellie’s place, Leo ends up meeting Matt (Porte), who helps him get out of his own way when it comes to writing something new and inspiring. Leo and Matt’s newfound friendships turn into something far more meaningful. ‘Notes of Autumn’ is set to premiere on Saturday, September 16 on the Hallmark Channel.
