“My New Boss is Goofy” First Impressions (Ep.1 to 3)

As an avid fan of the BL genre, diving into my second anime series of the year, ‘Atarashii Joushi wa Do Tennen’ had me intrigued and excited. The ongoing series promised an interesting storyline, and after immersing myself in its first few episodes, it certainly delivered more than I expected.

The story revolves around Momose, a 26-year-old office worker who chooses to change jobs as a result of harassment from his previous employer. His path changes upon meeting Shirosaki, his new boss, since he immediately fears resemblances to his former boss. Still, he feels a wave of comfort upon learning of Shirosaki’s clear intentions. The first episode plays out as a cute and fluffy affair. It skillfully introduces the characters and establishes the scene for the developing plot in a lighthearted and understandable manner. A wonderful balance is struck in the relationship between Momose and Shirosaki, adding just the proper amount of chemistry to keep viewers interested.

One standout feature is Shirosaki’s goofiness, a trait that seamlessly complements his character. Unlike the typical noisy and clumsy stereotype, Shirosaki’s quiet and unpredictable nature adds a refreshing twist. His goofiness, skillfully portrayed, becomes a defining element of his charm. ‘Atarashii Joushi wa Do Tennen’ stands out that it has the capacity to transform adverse features into positive ones. Initially terrifying, Momose’s previous work experiences become a chance for improvement and positivity in his new setting. It’s evidence of the series’ positive outlook, in which obstacles are overcome with fortitude and hope.

The scenes that take place in the amusement park have a charming, puppy-love quality that perfectly captures the essence of a developing romance. As each scene naturally develops, viewers are drawn into the slow evolution of Momose and Shirosaki’s romance. The story is greatly influenced by the characters’ initial impressions, which create a narrative in which each character’s unique personality subtly enhances the overall attractiveness. A beautiful and endearing tone prevails despite the occasional tension, making it an ideal vacation for anyone looking for a heartwarming love story.

Episode 3 introduces an unexpected emotional depth, particularly with the story of Hakutou, the little cat Shirosaki brings home. The tear-jerker moment adds a layer of emotional complexity, revealing the series’ capacity to delve into heartfelt storytelling.

Anticipation builds as I look forward to the evolution of Momose and Shirosaki’s love story. ‘Atarashii Joushi wa Do Tennen’ has left a great impression on me, offering a stress-free viewing experience with a storyline that flows freely, allowing the characters and their love to shine. With each episode, the series proves that sometimes, all you need is a bit of goofiness and a lot of heart to make a captivating love story.
