We are here with our weekly roundup and perusal of exciting teasers & trailers that dropped last week. Some were unexpected, other’s long overdue. We can’t wait to share our excitement, so let’s jump into our Sunday Feature!
Kidnap
Bookish Veenita States-
One of my most anticipated series of 2024 is finally set to air next month. Just two words are enough to get me excited about it—Ohm Pawat. Ohm’s ability to create chemistry with anyone (or anything) is unmatched, and I’ve been a fan of his acting since “He’s Coming To Me”. Initially, I wasn’t sure if Kidnap would be a BL, but the official trailer cleared that up—HELL YES, IT IS!
The plot centers around a young man turned kidnapper and the kidnapped boy who isn’t as innocent as he appears. This time, we have the fresh face of Leng Thanapon, making his debut in a lead role. Kidnap will air on GMMTV’s official YouTube channel starting September 6th.

The most controversial yet also most awaited series of 2024 is here. With OhmNanon fans still camping outside GMMTV, this one could be a risky enterprise. Did I compare Ohm Pawat’s chemistry with rookie actor Leng Thanapon with that of Nanon Korapat? Hell yes, I did. Suffix to say, Ohm seems to have a refreshing chemistry with Leng, the plotline is tightly streamlined and the story looks good. So, I’m definitely looking forward to my FriGay’s becoming more intriguing. I won’t comment on the trailer much, you got to watch it to believe it!
Love Sick 2024
Bookish Veenita States-
New faces, but with the same old feelings. The beloved cult romance Love Sick is making a comeback exactly 10 years after its original debut! As a pioneering series in the BL industry, Love Sick paved the way for countless others.
The show revolves around the fake-dating-to-real-love trope, which might be familiar, but what it lacks in novelty, it makes up for in solid acting and comedic elements.
Although I usually shy away from comparisons, there’s bound to be some with the original. I’m eager to see how this new version unfolds. I’ll admit, I haven’t watched the original series, but now seems like the perfect time to dive in before the new Love Sick airs in September on Tia51’s official YouTube channel. Admittedly, I haven’t watched the original yet, so I have nothing to compare. I went into this trailer with zero expectations (because it has the dreaded, overrated faked dating trope) and came out entertained. I’m not sure if the current leads have a better chemistry than their predecessors; but given the popularity that the original commanded, Love Sick 2024 will see numerous comparisons and even catcalls. But overall, the show is hugely anticipated and I’m hoping that this romcom delivers. There have been too many remakes these days and not all were entertaining (Yes, My Love Mixup Thai, I’m looking at you). Despite, Love Sick 2024 seems like a package deal with an ensemble casting, so fingers crossed!
Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo
Bookish Veenita States-
There’s not much to go on yet, but what I’ve seen has piqued my interest. The color palette is cozy and inviting, and the acting seems promising. The tagline, “A love story between two teens with nowhere else to turn,” has definitely caught my attention. From the title, we can expect some taekwondo moments—are there any BLs with a taekwondo premise? None that I can recall.
This one’s going straight onto my “Next Watch List.”

Hwang Da Seul’s comeback is obviously something to look forward to. After her sabbatical following hits like “To My Star” & “Blueming”, the entire BL industry has been anticipating her next project. After a short trailer that dropped few months back, there was no news on “Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo”. Heavenly Global has released a snippet featuring the natural chemistry between the main leads, and we are definitely enamored. The story has a strong “Ex-Lovers Reconciliation” feel and given Hwang Da Seul’s forte of depicting angsty stories, this one doesn’t seem any different!
Happy of The End
Bookish Veenita States-
What a teaser! After watching it, the only thing I remember vividly is the sound of slaps. And loads of scary moments. Adapted from the manga of the same, Happy of The End follows a violent, dark and psychological warfare. I have given the manga a go and frankly speaking I am weirded out, and I am a person who enjoys horror and gory action media.
But I am also quite intrigued to see this panning out on screen. Japanese BLs are often too good and on a league of their own. So, eyes out for this one.
But my curiosity knows no bound. Japanese BLs are often on a whole different level, so I’m keeping a close watch on this one.

The first thing that came to my mind after watching this teaser was that the theme seems quite similar to “Dangerous Drugs of Sex” or “Sing in Love”. The story focuses on a dazed and confused Chihiro who has a one-night stand with Keito. Chihiro may not have a place to call home currently and Keito may not be a good person by any means, but maybe the two of them could be happy together. The teaser does pan out on the violent nature of the protagonist, so I’m wondering how violent or gory this show could get. Will the adaptation match the details in the manga or will it be less somberly? While waiting for information on international streaming, check out the teaser first!
Love in the Air Koi
Bookish Veenita States-
When adaptations go both ways! Thailand is adapting Japanese shows and Japan is returning the favor. Love In the Air, one of the most named shows is getting a Japanese adaptation.
The teaser is out. I see the character and set design already looks like the Thai version. I am loving the similarities. Intrigued for more information? Keep an eye on The BL Express.

With the promotions for this show in full swing, a lot of our followers commented on the fact that they were unsure if the Japanese actors could compare with the kind of chemistry that BossNoeul & FortPeat had. A caustic remake of Mame’s novels, Shoma Nagumo (At 2500 in Akasaka) and Takuto Hamaya will be reprising the roles of Phaya & Rain while WATWING’s Asahi Suzuki and 7ORDER’s Reo Nagatsuma will be playing the roles of Prapai and Sky. Seemingly, the actors have huge shoes to fill in. The teaser gives faint glimpses of chemistry between the main leads; we don’t want to compare, but will the Japanese version live upto the reputation of the original Thai version?
