Hello everyone! I am thrilled to share my impression of the newest Thai BL adaptation of the well-known Chinese BL drama “Addicted Heroine”. As a huge fan of the original series, my expectations for this version were sky-high, especially in terms of casting the leads, Bai Luo Yin and Gu Hai, now re-imagined as Hero and Poppy. Let me walk you through my thoughts on this exciting new series.
The Storyline:
The emotional journey of Hero, the high-ranking general’s son, who flees his family after learning that his father is about to get remarried, lies at the core of “Addicted Heroine”. Poppy, his stepson, is accompanied by his father’s new spouse. Hero poses as poor in order to gain Poppy’s attention. This leads to a dramatic and emotional connection between the two, who will eventually become stepbrothers. Their romantic tale is rife with complexities, ranging from social divide to familial rivalry, which causes both characters to experience severe emotional distress.
Class Differences and Love
Poppy, who is from a humbler background, stands in contrast to Hero, who comes from a wealthy and influential family. One of the main themes is the conflict between their socioeconomic classes, but love always has no bounds. The show promises to examine how their love develops as well as the challenges they encounter from society, their families, and themselves.

The Cast
Hero is portrayed by August Vachiravit Paisarnkulwong, and Poppy is portrayed by Mac Nattapat Nimjirawat. Their on-screen chemistry is captivating, and the combination works well together to assist the development of a dramatic, intense plot. Their friendship is both believable and heartbreaking, thanks to the amazing job both artists did in bringing the emotions of their characters to life.
The First Four Episodes
The initial four episodes were amazing! I was surprised by how faithful the adaptation was to the original series, even down to the minute details of the reenactments of famous scenes. Hero and Poppy have a difficult beginning to their relationship, but after a pivotal moment, they grow closer.
The main goal of episodes 1-3 is to familiarize us with the characters and their histories. Hero is shown apologizing to Poppy and even defending him against bullies at school. But things are made more difficult by Hero’s connection with his girlfriend, Lala. She tries to use a cunning scheme to bring Hero back, adding a level of stress.
Episode 4, meanwhile, is where things take a sharp emotional turn. Hero plans to stay at Poppy’s house, but their happiness is short-lived when they discover the heartbreaking news that their parents are the ones getting married. This revelation rocks their worlds, and their reaction is gut-wrenching. How will they navigate this new reality, and what impact will it have on their budding relationship?
Intrigue and Excitement
The development of Hero and Poppy’s friendship is the most fascinating part of the show thus far, especially since they are still oblivious to the complex familial dynamic that threatens them. The emotional highs and lows of the original series are faithfully portrayed in this adaptation for fans (so far), and the excitement for the next episodes is rising to an exhilarating degree. Will Hero and Poppy’s relationship endure if their parents’ identities are revealed? Will their chemistry last or will it disappear when faced with the real world?

Final Thoughts
For admirers of BL dramas, “Addicted Heroine” is proving to be a must-watch series because of the emotional intensity and drama that is developing. You’ll be hooked by the series because it offers the ideal balance of drama, heart, and suspense. I’m interested to watch how Hero and Poppy handle the challenges in their lives and grow closer to one another.
This Thai adaption of Addicted Heroine is highly recommended if you’re looking for a nostalgic yet modern twist on the original story. Make sure to mark your calendars for every Tuesday when new episodes air on WeTV and the official HJ Thailand YouTube channel!
