The level of spice in BL this week was off the charts. Almost every episode had a heart-melting kissing scene. With that in mind, I tried to narrow it down to my top three favorites. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. There were so many beautiful moments this week! Still, I managed to do it.

Here are my top 3 favorites of the week:

1) Cir and Phu in “The Boy Next World” lit my screen on fire as their chemistry oozed off the screen in massive doses.

2) Kazuaki and Sei in “When it Rains it Pours” had such a powerful scene of intimacy and healing from touch. They did a beautiful job of building this moment for their characters.

3) Fadel and Style’s kiss in the empty gymnasium with all the space around them was so intimate. I felt like I was watching a private moment that I shouldn’t have.

Sunday, February 2nd

Perfect 10 Liners Episode 15 (Thai BL on YouTube)

Thoughts –

1) Sadly, Gun being threatened was the only way for Yotha to figure his feelings out.

2) Gun overcoming his fear was a sweet scene, but I feel like it would’ve taken longer in real life.

3) Let the YothaGun boyfriend era commence!

The Boy Next World Episode 5 (Thai BL on iQIYI)

Thoughts –

1) Cir’s trauma hurts my heart. It’s so vast that he created a whole world just to be with Phu. 😭

2) Still, he has too much knowledge. I think there’s more to it than a dreamscape.

3) The best medicine is what love can provide. 😏

Your Sky Final Episode (Thai BL on iQIYI)

Final thoughts –

1) If you love character growth, sweet and spicy romance, and a college theme, this is for you.

2) Every story is wrapped up beautifully.

3) The acting is excellent, considering it was the main leads’ 1st series.

Best Friend Episode 1 (Myanmar BL mini-series on YouTube)

1) The setup for the story is interesting. I think they may use a cheating trope. The three leads seem to be high school best friends.

2) It’s only 7 minutes long. Still, they did an adequate job setting up the story.

3) I will try another week.

Ossan’s Love Thailand Episode 5 (Thai BL on YouTube)0

Thoughts –

1) In-game Heng is so much cooler than in-real-life Heng.

2) He finally made himself clear!

3) The way he looked at Mo in the final scenes made me think he realized something. 😳

4) Don’t cry, Boss. 😭

Wednesday, February 5th

The Heart Killers Episode 11 (Thai BL on iQIYI)

Thoughts –

1) “Destroy love.” This part of the song is running on repeat in my brain… 😳

2) Jail was the best choice.

3) Still, 5 years will feel like a lifetime.

4) Fadel and Style stole my heart and broke it. 💔

5) The paintball scene was nostalgic. (Think 10 Things I Hate About You)

Impression of Youth Episode 5 (Taiwanese BL on iQIYI)

Thoughts –

1) Oh, to be young again with zero fear of the consequences. I remember the time when I leaped in with both feet, too.

2) I loved how Bingchen considered that maybe his wife gave him Xu Luxi. Their relationship is so soft and slow.

Thursday, February 6th

When it Rains, it Pours Episode 5 (Japanese BL on Gagaoolala)

Thoughts –

1) I didn’t think I’d ever condone cheating, but here I am cheering Kazuaki and Sei on. Way to go, boys. 👏👏🔥

2) This series has so many nuanced details. It’s excellent.

3) I was surprised the girlfriend found out so quickly. 👀

Heart Stain Episodes 1 and 2 (Korean BL on iQIYI)

First Thoughts –

1) Childhood crushes on teachers are harmless. It only turns creepy if it’s reciprocated and the teacher is overly friendly. 👀

2) The main leads have adequate chemistry, and the plot has an interesting premise.

3) I’ll watch it another week.

Friday, February 7th

ThamePo Heart That Skips a Beat (Thai BL on YouTube)

Thoughts –

1) Thame is adorable and blunders a bit, but he always figures it out in the end.

2) The third time is a charm.

3) I would have knocked Po upside the head if he didn’t immediately get rid of his ex’s clothes! 🤦‍♀️

4) William and Est’s chemistry was on fire.

Fight for Love Ep 1 (Vietnamese BL on YouTube)

First Thoughts –

1) This series immediately gives quirky, campy vibes.

2) The setup is pretty straightforward. A boy runs into another boy and breaks his camera. He now has to pay off a debt. Shenanigans ensue.

3) I’ll try another week. 👀

FC Soldout Episode 4 (Korean BL on iQIYI)

Thoughts –

1) I’m struggling to keep track of who likes who.

2) I want more fanboy moments.

3) The “knowing each other in high school” element makes the series more dynamic.

4) Soccer? What soccer??

Eternal Butler Episode 8 (Taiwanese BL on iQIYI)

Thoughts –

1) Robots are spicy and protective.

2) I did not drool during this episode…No, I didn’t. Of course not.

3) It’s light-hearted fun that makes the weekend go by easier. I’m glad it’s back this week.

Saturday, February 8

GELBOYS Episode 1 (Thai BL on iQIYI)

First Thoughts –

1) I don’t know exactly what just happened, but I kind of loved it. 😂 51 minutes passed and I didn’t even realize it.

2) Nails were done, situationships were explored, and the main character was an entire mood.

3) This series was a chill vibe. I liked experiencing Bangkok.

I’ll Turn Back This Time Episode 5 (Chinese BL on Gagaoolala)

Thoughts –

1) The fates have spoken.

2) It’s hard watching someone pass on time after time. 😭

3) I’m not sure why Shen Nan decided to do what he did in the end. He should have left.

4) How will they wrap it up in one episode?

It’s going to be so sad not to have “Your Sky” to watch tomorrow. Also, next Wednesday is the last episode of “The Heart Killers”, which has been such an excellent ride and so much fun. Luckily, we have two new series starting this next week for Valentine’s Day. Both air on February 14. One is from Thailand and is called “The Last Time”. I think we’re going to need to bring out our tissue boxes for this one, guys. You can find it on WeTV. Hopefully, they release it internationally. The other is called “Exclusive Love”. It is a Taiwanese BL slated to air on Gagaoolala. I’m not sure about the plot for this one, because it seems unclear, but I’m willing to give it a shot.
