“Gelboys” ended this week and I feel like I got to witness a masterpiece in the making. It is the type of series that could win awards with its creative filming and artistry. The director, Boss Naruebet, also directed I Told Sunset About You, which was a visually stunning coming of age story.

This time, I think he outdid “I Told Sunset About You”, which is saying something. Each scene was a work of art and shot in a way that if it were a still life could be in a gallery.

I still can’t believe they filmed part of it with phones. Still, that made every scene feel more immediate. It was like following the lives of real teenagers. They were able to get crews into locations that we don’t usually see because it’s too challenging to get a full crew to fit.

Must Watch

1) Fou4mod had me wanting to express my individuality more with stickers and glam. 🦋🐝🎁🎀🎨🖼🏳️‍🌈.

2) The acting was hot. Bua and Baabin were my favorites.

3) It was visually stunning and a piece of artwork.

4) Every scene made me feel like I was watching everyday life in Bangkok. I felt like I got to experience the city with these boys.

5) It was beautifully written. The characters were flawed and had depth, which made me feel like I was watching something that might happen in real-life.

Sunday, March 16

Perfect 10 Liners Episode 21 (Thai BL on YouTube)

Thoughts –

1) To be able to find someone who you can communicate with so openly and easily so young is powerful. I wish I had that at that age.

2) I love the nuanced detail in expression that Junior brings to the role. HIS VOICE IS BEAUTIFUL.

3) Both Junior and Mark made some great acting choices in this episode.

4) The scene on the rooftop showed Wine’s respect for Faifa. It was by far my favorite of the episode. He respected Faifa’s boundaries and safe space. He asked Faifa why he was smiling and then gave room for his response.

5) What a lovely start to a relationship.

Last Meal Universe Episode 3 (Thai BL on OneD)

Thoughts –

1) This series is ridiculously adorable.

2) Everything about it is quirky and fun.

3) I love it so much. Thank you for adding English subs.

4) I just knew that Shun would be asking for an owner after talking with Mimiu. 🤣🤣

Ossan’s Love Thailand Episode 11 (Thai BL on YouTube)

Thoughts –

1) Did Heng improve because he was living with the Boss, or because he wanted to be the best version of himself for Mo?

2) The proposal was heartfelt and sweet. Though, why the Boss thought it would be appropriate is beyond me.

3) I wonder if the Boss deliberately made such a public proposal because he knew Heng would have difficulty saying no.

Idea: The Boss thought them living together was the same as asking Heng out.

4) I’m glad Mo overheard Heng’s confession.

Heng: Mo, why did you decide on your own to break up with me?

Me: That’s right! How could Mo make such a drastic decision without asking Heng how he felt about it?

Also, me: Oh yeah, probably because Mo watched Heng flitting around with unstable boundaries with his Mom and Chicha. No wonder he ended up in the space he was in.

Thoughts –

1) I want to know what happens when Tong turns 21.

2) Tong’s tears healing Mark was an interesting development.

3) Am I right in thinking golden blood gives vampires their humanity back? Is that why Mark didn’t heal as quickly?

4) Watching Mark regain his senses is super hot.

Lost in the Woods Episode 1 (Thai BL on Gagaoolala)

PREMIERE

First thoughts –

1) I now want to visit Chiang Mai.

2) An elephant sanctuary that also practices agroforestry and permaculture? Count me in. 🤩

3) The setup was entertaining. The main leads have the classic grumpy/sunshine vibe.

4) I will continue. 🔥

Secret Relationships Episode 7 (Korean BL on iQIYI)

Thoughts –

1) There’s no other way around it. Jaemin and Soohyun are crazy.

2) Also, whoever called the savior complex for Sunghyun, you were so right! He’s got it bad.

3) Da-on seems to have Narcissistic Abuse Syndrome. 😭 It would explain why he went to the garage.

Episode Thoughts –

1) Where were the attendants in the ambulance? I swear for a moment, I thought Sunghyun had passed on because of the lack of care. 👀

2) Jaemin’s “Until Death Do Us Part” endgame gave me chills.

3) Da-on ignoring Soohyun’s confession and apology was priceless.

Final thoughts –

Toxicity level 10/10 ⭐️🥇

1) It is well-acted considering the cast was new to acting.

2) The final episode had some plot holes, and the level of toxicity isn’t for everyone.

3) Watch with a nice🍷and be prepared to throw something at the TV.

PREMIERE

First thoughts –

1) Boom and Smart are great together. Their chemistry was fun and 🔥.

2) I liked the angel symbolism. I think it was hinting at Jin being Akin’s guardian angel. He just wants to stand beside him, not take his place.

3) The maturity of Akin and the newness of Jin were so clear. Both actors are experienced, but they were able to convey the different levels believably.

4) The setup for them being competing actors was interesting, but I have a feeling the next episode will be offering them either a bromance co-lead or a full-on BL co-lead. Either way, I’m ready.

5) I have a feeling this is going to be good. I liked Boom in Chains of Heart. He was the reason I was invested in that series at all. I will keep watching!

Friday, March 21

Fight for Love Episode 7 (Vietnam BL on YouTube)

Final thoughts –

1) This was a playful series. It was a plus that I only felt the need to yell at the screen once.

2) The two main leads had a strong spark, and I thought the actor who played Bihn had a strong performance.

3) It would be an easy binge and is worth watching once. It was well done for a small production company with a limited budget.

4) The story was simple with plenty of oomph and drama, which was perfect for 7 episodes.

Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist Episode 1 (Thai BL on IQIYI here in the US)

PREMIERE

First Thoughts –

1) It’s giving classic BL vibes with a sprinkle of romcom.

2) Mark and Ohm are cute together.

3) Toothaches suck.

4) What is up with “Jway?” 🤣🤣

5) Jay can be a knight in shining armor. Of course, he can. 👀🤣

6) I will watch episode 2.

PorschArm the Wedding Episode 5 (Thai LGBT Reality series on Gagaoolala and YouTube)

Final Thoughts –

1) The wedding vows made me cry. I also loved the modified tradition of both grooms walking toward each other. Like one of the guests mentioned, it was cool that Porsch was in traditional Chinese robes while Arm was in traditional Thai robes.

2) The after party was lavish. I wish they could have played the song Porsch and Arm sang.

3) I love how they shared the day after and how it was a normal day like any other, except more special because they were officially married.

4) It’s worth going on a little jaunt with them and getting to share in their experience. I definitely recommend checking it out.

Exclusive Love Episode 7 (Taiwanese BL on Gagaoolala, IQIYI, and Viki)

Thoughts –

1) I’m glad Yi Qing and Jing He finally had a heart to heart. I’m not sure if Yi Qing’s confession was believed, but at least it was spoken.

2) Forward momentum for the main couple? What forward momentum. I feel like their relationship progress is stagnating a bit.

3) Zhan’s gift for Du Zhi is pretty adorable.

Next week is exciting because I just found out that they’re doing a three episode spin-off of “Your Sky” starting on Saturday, March 29 on IQIYI. I loved that series, so it will be fun to see what they have in store for us.

Also, Friday, March 28 is the premiere of the Taiwanese BL “Fight for You”. It will be available on Gagaoolala. The premise is definitely unique, so we’ll have to see how the series goes.
