BL Week in Review

This week was short and sweet as promised. I only watched 9 episodes and had plenty of time to do other things. Consequently, Chapter 2 of my interactive BL novel is almost ready to go out. In fact, by the time this is posted, it may already be available. Look for it on my social media. It is about an ordinary dude who gets thrown into extraordinary circumstances and finds a civilization in a parallel world that still lives with dinosaurs.

With that, we come to the most heart-wrenching moment of the week. Perfect 10 Liners ended last Sunday. I loved it so much, and since it spanned 6 months of our lives, it is getting its special place at the top of this week’s article. It is also mostly what we talked about in last week’s live, so if you’d like even more details and reactions, watch the replay of that live on The BL Xpress YouTube channel.

Perfect 10 Liners Finale 😭😭😭 (Thai BL on YouTube)

This series is a must-watch and will be a comfort series for a lot of people. It is accessible to both the younger generation and the older generation with its timeless themes. The plot was well-developed and had seamless transitions between stories. I could tell from the opening scene in the bar where every main character is immediately introduced that we would be in for a treat.

First, let’s talk about the finale:

1) I like that this episode picked up right where the last one left off. This series has been consistent with its storytelling.

2) Klao and Wa’s proposal was the perfect way to bring the series home.

3) The proposal was great because it facilitated everyone talking about their future. As often happens with weddings, couples start thinking about their futures and what might be.

It allowed everyone to have those discussions at once in a natural way.

4) I love how they laid each couple to rest, both realistically (they were going to sleep for the night) and symbolically (we were getting to say goodbye). 😭😭😭

Yotha and Gun were particularly heartwarming.

5) Po, Arm, and Sand were iconic, and so was Po’s perpetual single status! 🤣🤣🤣

6) I giggled so much at them, passing around the flower crown and chanting, “Kiss, kiss, kiss.” Also, it was cute how each couple kissed slightly differently in that scene.

Now, for my final thoughts:

1) Caution: You might just fall in love.

2) Faifa and Wine stole my heart.

Junior’s acting was nuanced. His micro-expressions brought Faifa to life in a way that was so believable.

Of course, this wouldn’t have been possible without Mark, whose character was so relatable.

3) This series is now going on my comfort series watch list.

4) It had brilliant storytelling with every couple getting their moment.

5) Get cozy with snacks, a drink, and a blanket for a weekend (or two) of romance.

Last Meal Universe Episode 6 (Thai BL on OneD)

Thoughts –

1) Chondan is jealous. 🤣 He must be going back and forth between thinking Chun is cute and thinking he’s crazy.

2) Is the bike repairman an undercover operative?

3) Chun is cute trying to explain his job to Chondan, but who would believe him?

My Golden Blood Episode 5 (Thai BL on iQIYI and Gagaoolala)

Thoughts –

1) Mond is doing a great job of being creepy.

2) I have to add my weekly praise of Mark. Thank you for having him remove his shirt.

3) The kissing is fabulous.

4) I was right, Mark is regaining his humanness. A vampire has a cold. 🤭

Lost in the Woods Episode 4 (Thai BL on Gagaoolala)

Thoughts –

1) We have 2 people experiencing grief in their own ways and helping each other through it. I like it. It’ll be a fun way to progress the intimacy.

2) Ton is tiny and adorable.

3) I’m enjoying this series a lot more than I expected.

Thursday, April 10

Top Form Episode 5 (Thai BL on Tencent app)

Thoughts –

1) My only thought while Akin was floating around in his own head was, “Akin, this is real life, Sweetie. He’ll still be there in the morning and tomorrow.”

2) I’m so surprised that it was Akin’s first real kiss.

3) Jin has his work cut out for himself.

Business as Usual Episode 2 (Korean BL on Viki in the states)

Thoughts –

1) That was unexpected. It seemed like Jin Hwan had a thing with his best friend from the start. Either that, or he has no boundaries (which is also possible).

2) Min Jun knew and still stepped into that relationship. That’s on him.

Show I’m not watching:

Exclusive Love- Taiwanese BL on Gagaoolala, Viki, and IQIYI

Fight For You Episode 4 (Taiwanese BL on Gagaoolala)

Thoughts –

1) Xiao Bai truly is soft-hearted. Still, I tend to agree with him. I don’t think Da Hei knows all of what goes on at his job. Also, it seems as though the main boss doesn’t know everything either.

2) A drunken kiss led Da Hei to imagine kissing Xiao Bai every time he saw him. This was amusing to watch.

3) This series is light and fun. It’s one that you can turn off your brain and go with the flow. In fact, it may be better not to think too deeply about it or look too closely at it.

Heesu In Class 2 Episode 5

Thoughts –

1) Chan Yeong is firm and brave with his feelings for the first time. Good for him.

2) I feel bad for Heesu. He doesn’t know how to live outside of Chan Yeong’s shadow. What will he do when his world comes crashing down around him?

Sweet Tooth Good Dentist Episode 3 (Thai BL on iQIYI)

Favorite bits –

1) Sant told Jay to find someone better when they were at karaoke.

2) Their first kiss.

3) Jay came up with the excuse of Sant being his secretary just so he could give him his dream day.

4) Jay had a little morning-after panic.

Saturday, April 12

Shows I’m not watching:

Close to You – Korean anthology BL on YouTube

Heesu in Class 2 Episode 6 (Korean BL on Viki)

Thoughts –

1) Heesu is obsessed with Chan Yeong and his relationship with Ji Yu. Therefore, we all have to be, too.

2) Confession next episode, please, and thank you. 🙏😘

3) I dislike it when the confession happens in the final scene of the last episode.

Your Sky of Us Finale (Thai BL on IQIYI)

1) This episode is postponed to next week because of the Thai New Year (Songkran)

Last week, there were no new series, but this week we have a couple of interesting-looking shows commencing. The first is “Something’s Not Right.” It is a Korean BL that will air on Viki in the United States starting on Wednesday, April 16. On Saturday, April 19, a Thai BL titled “Secret Ghost” will start airing on VIU Thailand. Right now, there’s no international platform announcement, but “Lost in the Woods” (the other VIU original currently airing) is on Gagaoolala, so fingers crossed.

Also, a new series has come to my attention called “Secrets Happened on the Lichi Island”. It is a Chinese BL on YouTube, and all episodes are now available. I plan on trying it out when I have a chance. Has anyone seen it? What do you think?
