Dear fellow BL Fans,

Good news. I feel better this week, although I’m still recovering. I think the saddest thing for me was not having “The Ex-Morning” to watch on Thursday, though there have been hints that Krist and Singto will have a new series in 2026, so fingers crossed (and maybe toes, too).

This week, three new series dropped that are fabulous. I was thinking about which one I enjoyed the most, and I think they’re equal. All get first place in my book. You may be wondering what those series are. Well, look no further, look for the “Highlights” to find out. Let’s get on to the BL Week in Review.

1) The cinematography was fun, especially with the boxing scenes and some of the other fight scenes.

2) The acting was on point. Stand-out performances go to Nice Boripat (Keen) and Tuck Naphatsaran (Phuwish).

3) The story would work well as a binge watch rather than watching week to week.

✨Highlight 1: My Magic Prophecy Episode 1 (Thai BL on YouTube)

✴️PREMIERE

1) Jimmy and Sea are back. Honestly, that’s my primary takeaway from this episode. 🤣

2) I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this series, but I do know I wasn’t expecting it to be so well-paced with a great setup.

3) Then again, it is the same director as Reset and The Sign, both of which have a great beginning.

4) Jimmy and Sea’s characters are immediately intriguing. I like the clash between common sense/logic and the magical/mysterious world of being a psychic.

Doctor’s Mine Episode 2 (Thai BL on Gagaoolala and cut on YouTube)

Lighthearted Fun

1) Sometimes it’s nice not to have to think too hard.

2) Kan got serious, really fast. I feel like that relationship will develop quickly, but something will go wrong with it.

3) The backstory between Knight and Mild has to be interesting.

Dogbro Episode 1 (Thai BL uncut on IQIYI and cut on YouTube)

1) It’s more or less as the title says. We have a boy (Meen) who finds himself a dog to keep him company, and then his bro joins him, too.

2) The main actors are cute, and the story is simple. I can just sit back, relax, and enjoy.

Reset Episode 9 (Thai BL on IQIYI)

1) It looks like our human fly is out for blood. Does that make him a mosquito?

2) Tada looks at Armin like he wants to devour him. It’s hot.

3) Wenai and Janine’s endgame is real! I ship them.

4) Dang, did Tada remember the future?? OMG! The scene when he finds Armin dead was excellent!

Revenged Love Episode 15 (Chinese BL everywhere)

1) Cue the misunderstanding. I’m sure Wei is going to assume Cheng is cheating since he lied about being at the hospital.

2) I think Cheng should tell Wei about his mother’s illness. He won’t be forgiven if Wei finds out too late.

3) In this episode, I loved the interaction between Shuai and Cheng Yu.

4) It turns out Cheng has a type: those who like to scheme.

Jealousy

1) It’s cool, every action in this episode leads to how both parties handle jealousy! Love it.

2) A run is a great way to get over any physical frustrations you have.

3) This photography scene is so awkward. I remember my mom asking me to pose for hand references for a drawing she was doing, so it’s a thing, but what a great way to create possible jealousy in a new relationship.

The storytelling is easy. The drama is light. I would call it a slow, easy series to consume.

I did enjoy some of the acting moments, especially Minwoo. I thought he was an interesting character.

1) I’m glad I started it. What an opening.

2) So, Prince in the present comes out as trans and is facing impressive backlash. Prince in the past was Woradet, who was involved in some kind of political intrigue scandal.

3) Yet, the presentation is light-hearted and funny…. What an interesting combination.

Memoir of Rati Episode 7 (Thai BL on YouTube)

Fortitude

1) Thee is so optimistic. Me? I have a sense of dread for them.

2) You can just tell that Mek isn’t used to someone worrying about him.

3) It’s fun to watch Ruj knocked down a peg or two by everyone!

4) I love Mek’s character and was so excited when he got his land back.

10 Things to do Before I Turn 40 Episode 5 (Japanese BL on Gagaoolala)

Adorable

1) Tojo’s style change is unnecessary. His other style is so cute. But if it makes him feel confident, then.

2) This remains the cutest show out there right now.

3) Keiji’s sisters are a lot to handle… I wonder how Tojo survived.

4) This week was all about getting brave with speaking.

4) This is a good series for a day when you have a lot of time to kill and your favorite beverage. Throw in a plushie and you’re set.

✨Highlight 3: Shine the Series Episode 1 (Thai BL on WeTV/Tencent)

1) Episode 1 was excellent. I did have to look up a bit of Thai history, but Google AI was adequate to get the feel of 1969 in Thailand.

2) They’ve done a great job of placing this series in time and space.

3) Mile as Thanwa, this free-spirited hippie was not something I was expecting to enjoy so much. Apo as Trin is super fastidious and straight-laced.

4) The camera work in the final scene, with everyone tripping out, was fabulous.

ABO Desire Episode 6 (Chinese BL on Gagaoolala, Viki)

Sociopath

1) The actor playing Hua Yong is excellent. He goes from ruthless to simpering on a dime.

2) Gao Tu’s place is crappy. I wonder if it’s a reflection of how he sees himself. Also, he’s a glutton for punishment.

3) Shen is a reactive, emotional man. Still, he was kind of sweet for fixing all the lights. Maybe, he just doesn’t have any social skills.

The Next Prince Episode 14 (Thai BL on IQIYI)

1) The filming was beautiful.

Next week is going to be another great one, starting on Monday, August 4. The Japanese BL “The Proper Way to Write Love” will be getting its official international release on Gagaoolala. The premise is about a man who seeks revenge on his childhood nemesis.

On Friday, August 8, a vertical micro series titled “21 Days Sunshine” will begin on YouTube. It is another Thai college BL about forced proximity.

On Saturday, August 9, we have a series that a lot of us have been anticipating. “Khemjira” begins on IQIYI. The premise is that a young man is cursed with dying before his 21st birthday. How will he survive?
