“My Bias is Showing” First Impressions (Ep.1 & 2)

We all have something we look forward to, something that helps motivate us through our days. Whether it’s a person, a place, or a thing, it keeps us grounded even when we don’t feel grounded at all.

That’s exactly how high school teacher Na Ae Joon (Kevin) feels about pop idol Choi Si Yeol (Kim Kang Min). To Ae Joon, Si Yeol is more than just a singer, he’s a dream, someone who inspires him from a distance, someone he never expects to meet.

Until he does.

When Ae Joon’s school becomes the filming location for Si Yeol’s new show, the two cross paths in the hallway, and life gets complicated fast. Not only does Si Yeol notice Ae Joon, but he invites him to join the show as his “co-teacher.” Suddenly, Ae Joon finds himself balancing his secret fanboy heart with the professionalism his job demands, and neither role is easy to keep up.

The first two episodes of My Bias is Showing are light, fun, and surprisingly relatable. Because, really, who hasn’t imagined what it might be like to meet their favorite celebrity? What makes this story shine is how real Ae Joon’s fanboying feels. It’s sweet without being over the top, and never tipping into scary or obsessive. That balance makes Si Yeol’s presence in his life all the more charming, especially as Ae Joon struggles between hiding his devotion and doing what’s expected of him.

Beyond that, the early episodes keep things simple: we’re introduced to Ae Joon, Si Yeol, and Ae Joon’s roommate, whose own storyline teases a connection to Si Yeol. There are hints of ulterior motives, subtle setups for conflict, and just enough mystery to make you wonder where loyalties truly lie.

While not a lot of big plot points drop right away, My Bias is Showing doesn’t need them to pull viewers in. It’s endearing, funny, and brimming with promise. It’s the kind of drama you know is going to get messier (and more emotional) as it unfolds. And I’m here for it.
