7 Wholesome BLs with No Spice

If you’re looking for soft BLs with no mature content, this list is for you. Each of these titles avoids explicit scenes so you enjoy them in peace and in public, if you so choose. I picked shows with endearing characters and sweet stories.

I Hear the Sunspot

Premise: A reserved student with hearing loss meets a loud and energetic classmate who changes his world and opens his heart.

This show will soak you in warm and happy feelings. The pacing is great, the characters are individually compelling and good together. The loud classmate is dumb to his own feelings in a way that’s endearing. If you see an NC-17 rating, that’s incorrect, I promise.

Fish Upon the Sky

Premise: A nerdy dental student has a crush on a campus hottie, but another student seems determined to interfere with their love story.

A light, entertaining watch for days you don’t want to think too hard. The chemistry is cute, the fourth wall breaks made me laugh, and I rolled my eyes at the dental student’s stubbornness. I enjoyed watching it after stressful days.

Boys Be Brave

Premise: A teenager’s secret crush moves in with him, providing frustration and confusion.

This is a cute little romance with fun tension between the leads. The secondary romance has deeper emotional notes that never venture too far into drama. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys opposites-attract romances that are easy to watch.

Love Tractor

Premise: A university student escapes to the countryside where he meets an affable country boy.

This is a cozy romance where a city boy and a country bumpkin fall in love. The conflict is minimal, making it a good palate cleanser between more intense shows. The story is simple and it probably won’t blow you away, but it’s sweet and easy to watch.

Only Boo

Premise: Sent away to sort out his studies, a teen falls in love as he chases his dream of becoming an idol.

The lead pursued his love interest with charming, upbeat dedication. He’s a bit of a golden retriever to his love interest’s black cat. It deals with the sacrifices that come with chasing your dreams, but is mostly light-hearted. A fun watch that delivers the awkwardness of teens in love.

Cherry Blossoms After Winter

Premise: Seo Hae Bom lives with an adoptive family with a son his age. The ice between them thaws when they are assigned to the same class in high school.

A sweet high school romance between two boys who live together. If you like a stoic versus a soft lead, you’ll enjoy this one. It leans towards being cute and soft, so it’s a good watch for when you need something happy to keep you company.

School Trip: Joined A Group I’m Not Close To

Premise: On a class trip, shy and reserved Hioki ends up rooming with the most popular boys in class. His nervousness gives way to friendship, particularly with the handsome Watarai.

Truly adorable and refreshing. I was touched by how kind and generous each of the popular boys were, along with Hioki’s relatable reluctance to join them initially. If you were the introvert growing up, this show will particularly warm your heart.
