“Wedding Plan” Series Review (Ep.3 to 7)

“Wedding Plan” ended its series run with unexpected results for all the characters. The series was helmed by Mame, who wrote it based on one of her romance novels of the same name. The mysterious circumstances surrounding Lom (Sunny Wannarat) and Yiwa (Aya Orapan)’s wedding remain the centerpiece for the drama.

“Only Friends” First Impressions (Ep.1 & 2)

Written and directed by Jojo Tichakorn (whose written and directed many shows for GMMTV), the highly anticipated series “Only Friends” debuted on YouTube. So, I knew what to expect going into this spastic hyper sexual series that surrounds six college friends and the antics they get into. Many familiar actors from multiple series pop up in this drama in quite a few surprising ways, mainly because the cameos weren’t mentioned in any of the trailers that were released online. So, I treat them as cupcakes meant to delight longtime fans of Jojo’s work catalog.

“Stay” Series Review (Ep.3 to 7)

This seven episode joint venture between the Filipino and American community in the form of a bicultural series follows the Pinoy screenwriter, Andre (Sebastian Castro) who traveling to Los Angeles for an award acceptance ceremony. Making less than favorable life choices, he ends up rooming with Joshua (Ellis Gage), a hardworking American of Korean descent. Although their relationship stars as tenant and landlord but as the two learn more about each other, things change.

“House of Stars” Series Review (Ep.3 to 12)

A multimillion baht house with beautiful actors working for the same company, thriving on the drama they can create in each other’s lives, is the setting for “House of Stars”. The show is a twelve episode drama surrounding the residents of the house, all of whom follow the strict house rules only when it suits them. The series moves like a spider interconnecting the characters like flies to the web of need that the house owner Miss Susie (Rudklao Amratisha) weaves. Offering rewards like fame, money, opportunities and access to the other actors for sex of romance (passively, as she has hidden cameras everywhere in the house and uses them to manipulate the actors).

“Nimona” Movie Review

A love story is where two different people meet and learn about each other. Their differences, their likes, the things that make them unique- it’s those aspects presented in a way that the viewer can’t just relate to, but understand, in a manner that touches your heart and makes a beautiful love story. Netflix’s “Nimona” is one of the best love stories I have ever experienced.

“Dinosaur Love” First Impressions (Ep.1 & 2)

A shy young man bumps into a complete stranger who experiences love at first sight. The object of his affection is someone experiencing years of pain and disappointment of the most callous kind. Maybe it’s time for a Seme (who seems like a dinosaur) to step in and shake things up. That’s the premise for “Dinosaur Love”, a BL based on the novel of the same name by Scriper; created by Ultimate Troop as Part One of their compilation stories in “Buddy Line Y Animal”.

“Stay The Series” First Impressions (Ep.1 to 3)

Two men meeting by happenstance would be an ordinary thing to happen, if not for the whipsmart writing and amazing chemistry between characters Joshua (Ellis Gage) and Andre (Sebastian Castro) in “Stay The Series”. The show is 7 episodes long and details Andre’s time in America. The bilingual Sebastian Castro articulates Andre’s naïveté quite well as the series focuses on him. Beside him is the cynical Joshua, who can be described as prickly. Andre navigates the city of Los Angeles, debuting his powerful short film and winning an award for it. The set for the award ceremony was shot using clever angles, so it gives the impression that there is more to it, as well as more people in attendance. Attention to details like that make or break the image before the viewer’s eye and fortunately that is taken into account in every scene of this show.

“The Boy Next Door” Series Review (Ep.1 to 15)

Based on the web comic “Handsome Men” by Bae Chul Wan,”The Boy Next Door” follows the misadventures of two single college men, Park Kyu Tae (Choi Woo Shik) and his neighbor Sung Ji Jae (Jang Ki Yong). The two are your average guys who happen to find themselves smoking on the balcony at the same time. Sung Ji Jae, who is typically shy but doesn’t want to be rude and not acknowledge Park Kyu Tae, tries to strike up conversations; which generally lead nowhere. But due to their sense of pride and faulty wiring, they both end up as roommates.
