“Once in Memory- Let me be yours” Movie Review

Mind Trio has added another chapter to their “Once in Memory Series”. Let me be Yours is the fourth short film in the series. I was so excited to see another short Film in their “Once in Memory” franchise. Unbelievably, each film is just 20 to 30 minutes long but they tell such a fantastic story. Mind Trio really has the ability to tell a complete story in a short period.

Once again, Mind Trio did not disappoint. Let me be Yours is a bittersweet story with an open ending. The story is in sync with the accompanying music and the scenery is mesmerizing (which is a trademark of most Mind Trio productions). We have 3 friends, X (Pun Napat), TK (Bom Thunpisit) and Max (Poom Phumphat), who – here is a BL twist – like each other. You will have to watch to see who likes who. The ensuing love triangle is pretty interesting.

In a short timeframe, you can see and feel their emotions, as they deal with liking someone, mostly for the first time, and that too someone of the same sex. The uncertainty relative to the questions of “ Does he like me too?” “ What if he doesn’t like me?” Will he still be my friend?” give an intriguing edge to the storyline. This series is mainly shot around the university setting. Much like others were, the music helped to enliven the scenes and the background score matches each person’s feelings, showcasing their happy and sad moments!

I did not like the ending, it almost felt unfinished. Maybe there would be more, but alas I am not so sure. It left me wondering – Can they still be friends after this? Can they overcome their feelings for each other and move on? Honestly, I wish there was more to this short film. It wasn’t a happy ending but also wasn’t a sad ending either. It was, to me, an unfinished premise. I understand what the director was trying to convey in the ending, but I just wish it was more definitive.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this one. So please watch, come back and share your thoughts. I am very interested to see what you have to say!
