Stayloki94’s Favorites

As a fan of Taiwanese BL dramas, I can’t help but admire the work that goes into developing such engrossing plotlines. Taiwanese BL dramas stand out for me because of their actors’ expertise as well as their ability to present an interesting plot. I am always drawn to their natural and seamless performances, which makes it simple for viewers like me to identify with the characters.

As I look back at the BL dramas I watched last year, I cannot help but recall my top 3 favorites. These dramas each had their own distinct plot and characters, but what really stuck with me was the superb acting, humor, and emotions they conveyed.

DNA Says Love You

DNA Says Love You is a gripping Taiwanese BL series that follows the narrative of two characters, Amber (Erek Lin) and Pu Le Chien, who have their own challenges, but fate pulls them together. Erek Lin’s exceptional acting skills and chemistry with his on-screen companion, Lukas Huang, who plays Pu Le Chien, makes their romance even more captivating. The story takes a fascinating turn thanks to the use of vlogging as a storytelling tool, whilst the back and forth between the past and present is expertly done. I like the way the show illustrates the fact that fate works in odd ways and how love may still blossom in the face of adversity. Pu Le Chien’s innocent and adorable demeanor is played brilliantly by Lukas Huang, and it’s not surprising that he has the capacity to make someone fall in love with him. Overall, DNA Says Love You has a fantastic plot, pace, and cast of characters that helped it gain a secure place in the hearts of many viewers.

Plus & Minus

Plus & Minus is a Taiwanese BL series that will take you on a journey with two close friends who eventually fall in love with each other. Zheng Ze Shou (Max Lin) and Fu Li Gong (Shi Cheng Xuan) have been best friends for as long as they can remember. They work as lawyers and have a wonderful mutual understanding, but things change when they start to recognize their love for each other. It’s a poignant story of friendship growing into love, and the series captures it brilliantly.

In addition to the two main characters, the story also centers on Jian Ying Ze (Matt Lee) and Kato Yuki (Zheng Qi Lei), who are also trying to understand their feelings for one another. The show demonstrates how love can be difficult sometimes be and how much courage it takes to move forward. Both couples face numerous challenges, but they are prepared to battle for their relationship. What I admire about this series is how it tackles problems regarding acceptance and being open-minded about sexuality. It’s a refreshing twist on the genre and proves that love knows no boundaries. The acting is great, and the chemistry between the characters is evident. The transition between scenes is flawless, and the tempo is just right. Overall, Plus & Minus is a lovely series that will make you believe in the power of love. Fans of the BL genre should definitely watch it, and even those who aren’t familiar with it will undoubtedly enjoy the moving story it recounts.

About Youth

Taiwanese BL series About Youth debuted in 2022 and gained popularity right away. The show centres around two young men, Xu Qi Zhang (played by Shen Jyun) and Ye Guang (played by Li Zhen Hao), who have extremely different personalities but are brought together by fate.

Ye Guang has always been a talented person, and his parents encourage him to be the best at whatever he does. But as the strain mounts, he feels stifled and starts to rebel because he feels powerless. While Qi Zhang, who is more of a performer than a scholar, has a devoted mother and a group of friends who stand behind him, he is nevertheless accepted for who he is. Despite their differences, Qi Zhang and Ye Guang are drawn to one other, and their romance deepens throughout the course of the series. The show deals with issues like social stereotypes, family pressures, and the hardships that young people experience in modern society.

About Youth differs from other BL series because of its straightforward and novel approach. The group is filled with brilliant performers who bring their characters to life, and the story is beautiful and endearing. The soundtrack is also one of the highlights of the program, beautifully portraying the emotions of each moment. Throughout the series, Qi Zhang and Ye Guang meet disagreements and misunderstandings, but they always try to settle them in the best way possible. Destiny plays a significant role in their journey, and it’s fascinating to observe how everything develops. Overall, About Youth is a must-watch for anyone who loves a good love story. It’s a charming and emotional series that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

My love for Taiwanese BL dramas continues to grow as I discover more captivating stories and talented actors. I am always excited to see what new gems will come my way in the future.

A Girl Who Loves to Read’s Favorites

What is the most important thing when you watch a show or a movie? It’s the intriguing, captivating story with a nice cast and amazing chemistry between the actors. It doesn’t matter how high or low budgeted; the production is. Taiwan has over the years produced very exciting and great BLs/LGBTQ dramas and movies with a story that make you feel connected to or narratives that grip your attention like no other drama does. Here are some of my favorite 2022 Taiwan BL dramas.

Plus & Minus

This adorable series is based on a love story between two childhood friends. Even though this trope may sound like the same old story about a childhood friend falling in love, this show has a distinct kind of freshness that made me obsessed with the series. In the series, both main leads have been best friends for twenty years and their friendly bond turns into a love bond. It is indeed a very cute and endearing show to watch.

My Tooth Your Love

The series, as you can understand from the title, is based on a love story between a dentist and his patient. The show had great chemistry between the leads and the way their relationship develops overtime is something that you will appreciate while watching the show. As much as this show feels like it is somewhat cliché, you can watch it to lighten your mood and enjoy watching two complete opposites falling in love.

DNA Says Love You

When I started this series, I thought maybe it will be another boring series, but I was wrong. This drama has a fresh concept and a good story that grips the attention of the viewers till the end; the plot becomes more engaging as the story moves on. Though the story is a bit slow-paced, it has a uniqueness that will keep you occupied and intrigued.

We will be back next week with the third edition of this feature. So till then, keep watching this space as we bring you more updates from the Asian BL World!
