It’s a busy week ahead and, as always, we are here with the latest updates and exclusives from the BL world. It’s our job to keep you abreast with the newest happenings in the Boy’s Love diaspora and we aim to please. Join us as we talk about fresh arrivals as well as news reports relative to shows that are making waves across the globe!

Laws of Attraction

This is one of those series that simply drew attention because of its immensely popular main cast. Yes, we are talking about “To Sir With Love” fame couple, Jam Rachata and Film Thanapat. The duo became famous by portraying the main couple, Tian & Jiu, in the Republican era Lakorn and fans have been eagerly awaiting news about their next venture. Your wait ends, because Jam & Film have started filming for “Laws of Attraction”, their upcoming new age thriller romance. While we don’t know much about the storyline, the main poster is quite indicative of the fact that the show might be a mystery thriller. As of now, the only update we have is that Film will be playing the role of a lawyer while Jam will be acting as a PE teacher.

The Star Season 2

Trust Entertainment (Myanmar) will be releasing a sequel to their BL short film ‘The Star’. Season One was based on the tragic romance between the main couple, Rachel and Kyal. Rachel is a rich heir and Kyal is a barista. Rachel’s mother schemes to separate them, she cajoles them into getting a surrogate so Rachel can have a baby. Later, she uses the same surrogate to keep them apart. Rachel falls into the trap and he stops seeing Kyal. Season One ends with Rachel breaking up with Kyal via text and Kyal is hit by a car. Season Two will probably follow Rachel and Kyal’s journey after their breakup with the added twist of a possible love triangle. The sequel stars Myo Mg Mg, J Yaung, Min Thant, Ti Min Khant, and Su Myat Mon, and is directed by Kina and Kevin. The Star Season 2 is scheduled to be released in June.

Stupid Genius

RL Studio (Vietnam) have released the official poster for their upcoming teenage romance, “Stupid Genius” or “Thien Tai Hang Bet”. Their previous works include “Stupid Boys Stupid Love”, “You Are My Sunshine”, “You Are My Stupid Boy”, The Stars Always Follow You’ and ‘Stormy Honeymoon’. Starring Thế Bằng, Tiến Hải, Thái Khang, Quốc Nam, Cindy and Tiêu Thanh in the lead roles, Stupid Genius is set to premiere on 9th June, 2023 and will have six episodes. The drama also stars Tuong Minh Thao (Mr. Cinderella) in a supporting role.

Playboyy The Series

After a long wait, Copy A Bangkok (YYY Series, Y Destiny, War of Y) have announced their upcoming new project, “Playboyy The Series”. The show has an ensemble casting which includes Parm Pawarate, Aun Warit, View Thanathorn, Win Jirapat, Kaowoat Supasin, Korn Palat, Boat Pakorn, Vivit Parunrit, Jack Jaktrin, Chat Wasutha, Shell Thakrit, Dech Narongdet, Jaab Phumisit, and Jeffy Chutipon. Information relative to the storyline is still under wraps. The show is slated to be released in the latter half of 2023.

My Universe: Refund Love

Marwin Akkaradanai and Thee Theechula will be starring in the eleventh installment of “My Universe”. The story follows a young man, Plai, who gets hired to look after a hesitant man named Third. When he meets his employer, Third asks him to take care of himself rather than others. He feels like that he has been hired to take care of himself. The twist occurs when the wages he receives isn’t money, but love.

My Universe: I Wish You Love

Oh Anuchit (Club Friday Season 2) and Winner Tanatat (War of Y) will star in the twelfth installment of “My Universe”. Titled “I Wish You Love”, the story follows Pon, who is so obsessed with looking into the mirror that he has them all over the house. One day he trips & falls into one of them. He finds himself in the room of an old classmate/crush, Marvin, with whom he lost contact in high school after Marvin got sick.

“My Universe The Series” is set to premiere on August 20th on IQIYI.

The Internship

Wayufilm Production have announced their next project, “The Internship”. Starring Ryuton Yananthon and Earth Wachirawit in the lead roles, the short film is set to premiere in June on their YouTube Channel. The storyline follows an intern who encounters a ghost at his workplace.

Given

Avid fans of the Japanese manga franchise can rejoice; Fuji TV has announced that Given will be getting its second film adaptation. The series is centered around the lives of four high school students, Mafuyu Sato, Ritsuka Uenoyama, Akihiko Kaji, and Haruki Nakayama, who form a rock band; alongside Mafuyu’s childhood friends Hiiragi Kashima and Shizusumi Yagi. The manga was first serialized into an eleven episode anime series (2019), which was followed by the movie version (2020). The episodic series focuses on Ritsuka as he rediscovers his love for music thanks to Mafuyu. Given the Movie focused on their bandmates, Akihiko-Haruki, and their tumultuous relationship. The storyline for the second film involves Ritsuka temporarily joining Hiiragi and Shizusumi’s band, and the tension that brings to his new relationship with Mafuyu. It will also delve into the relationship between Hiiragi and Shizusumi.

Love Tractor

Next Entertainment World (NEW) have revealed the official poster and trailer for their upcoming healing romance, “Love Tractor”. Adapted from the webtoon “Love Tractor” (트랙터는 사랑을 싣고), the show stars Do Won and Yoon Do Jin as Sun Yool and Yechan in the lead roles of Sun Yeol and Suh Ye Chan. Love Tractor is set to premiere on 7th June, 2023 and will be available on IQIYI.

Synopsis-

Due to feeling lost in life, Hyeon Yul, a city man with zero ability to survive in the countryside, comes to his grandfather’s rural home. In front of him appears Ye Chan, a passionate young man who loves farming. While learning about rural life and assisting with farming tasks, Hyeon Yul gradually finds himself drawn to Ye Chan’s warm and straightforward nature. Between these two individuals, each burdened with their own worries, a youthful and lively rural healing romance unfolds, full of ups and downs!

Where Your Eyes Linger

Released in 2020, Hwang Da-Seul’s Where Your Eyes Linger was a pioneer in the Korean BL industry; the show heralded the genre into existence in a country where queer media was sorely nonexistent. Starring actors stars Han Gi Chan and Jang Eui Soo in the lead roles of Han Tae Joo and Kang Gook, the story follows their teenage romance as both childhood friends come to terms with their feelings for each other. A re-edited movie version of the drama will be released soon. W-Story has unveiled the official poster for the movie version, setting the ball into motion for its future release. Will international fans have an opportunity to watch the movie version? Only time will tell!

Tokyo in April

Adapted from the manga series “4gatsu no Tokyo wa by Haru, “Tokyo in April” is the first BL in MBS’s popular Tunku drama 2023 Lineup. Starring Yuki Sakurai of GEKIDAN EXILE and Takamatsu Aloha of Choutokkyuu in the lead roles of Takizawa Kazuma and Ishihara Ren, the storyline focuses on two best friends who separated by misunderstandings, reunite ten years later and rekindle their relationship. Premieres on 16th June, 2023 on Gagaoolala.

Synopsis-

The new employee Kazuma, who returned to Tokyo from America, reunites with his close friend from middle school, Ren, who is currently working as the top designer at their company. It is their first meeting since the abrupt farewell during their third year in middle school, 10 years ago. Ren was his best friend and his first love. He is as strong and good-looking as ever. And Kazuma is happy just being with him. However, Ren avoids the subject of their time in middle school rather unnaturally and acts like a friendly former-classmate… But he’s behaving this way because he is gay, and above all, fears being rejected by Kazuma. Yet one night, the two of them get together again?

Twin The Series

Lovemedia Thailand have released the pilot trailer for their upcoming drama, “Twin The Series”. Starring rookie actor Frame Ritchanon and Ryan Mcshane (Oh! My Sunshine Night), the show focuses on identical twins, Sprite and Zee who get separated when their parents’ divorce. While Zee trains to become a volleyball player, Sprite is a boxer. Unexpectedly, some thugs mistake Zee for Sprite and shoot him. Left with no choice, Sprite masquerades as Zee to help his brother secure his place as a national athlete. The show is set to premiere on CH3 Thailand, no international platform announced yet.
