November has been an extremely busy month with the continuous outpouring of new BL dramas/movies. And while we are still gasping for breath making time to watch the latest releases, the Boys’ Love diaspora is constantly churning out updates/exclusives related to upcoming shows/films. Join us as we take you on a joyride, but proceed with caution!

Lovely Addict The Series

Tod Panapong and Cheque Wacharawee are definitely one of the hottest couples in the “9naa Production” campsite. Following the news that they will be starring in a new project “Kiseki Chapter 1”, the production house has released a 12 minute long pilot for their upcoming drama “Lovely Addict”. This show stars Tod and Cheque in the lead roles as Panapong Khaisang & Wacharawee Kaewpoolsri. While Tod plays the role of a hot-tempered, rich hotelier, Cheque will be playing a fresh hotel intern. The show also features BeBoy Nanthakorn and Plai Chattrin as the secondary couple, Nanthakorn Sringenthap and Chattrin Chotticomporn. Tod and Cheque are quite popular for their fiery chemistry and the pilot promises the same!

Official Pilot-

Despite the announcement, actor Cheque Wacharawee publicly shared on his social media platform that he is withdrawing from the company as their artist, siding work attitude problems. The company hasn’t contacted him yet, making it unclear whether he is indeed participating in their recently announced projects (Kiseki Chapter One & Lovely Addict). Cheque intends to explain the misunderstandings after discussing it with the company.

I Became the Lead Role of a BL Drama

TV Asahi announced their latest project, ‘I Became the Lead Role of a BL Drama’, an adaptation based on Suzuri Machi’s manga “BL Drama no Shuen ni Narimashita”. Starring actors Nichika Akutsu and Abe Aran from the musical band ‘7ORDER’ in the lead roles of Akafuji Yuuichirou & Aoyanagi Hajime, the drama showcases the struggles faced by the two main leads. The prequel will premiere on December 24 on TELASA with three episodes. Meanwhile, the sequel will be aired on January 1st on the local TV station, TV Asahi. International release is still under wrap.

Synopsis-

A popular BL manga is going to be adapted into a live-action drama. The double lead roles will be played by Aoyanagi Hajime, a talented actor who used to be a successful child actor but is not so successful anymore and Akafuji Yuuichirou, a popular and handsome actor. Hajime has a hard time with Yuuichirou who has an unfriendly attitude, but on the other hand Yuuichirou has too much love for Hajime. Will the two stars succeed in their BL drama?

Love Sick 2024

Tia 51 has unveiled character profiles for their upcoming remake “Love Sick 2024”. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of this old classic, the show is being revamped with a brand new casting. Rookie actors Poomsuwan Suwansatit and Passawish Thamasungkeeti will be portraying the main leads, Phun and Noh (previously played by Ngern Anupart and August Vachiravit). Similarly, NJ Deeprompt and Toto Thayawat will be playing the roles of Ohm & Mick. Shane Thanatpong and Sky Phasith will be playing the supporting couple, Per- Mewin alongside Bew Busaya & Yeepun Purichaya who will be playing the GL couple, Aim & Yuri. The show is set to premiere on July, 2024.

My Stand-In

IQIYI and YYDS Entertainment’s upcoming collaboration “My Stand-In” has begun filming and is expected to air in the first half of 2024. Adapted from Shui Qian Cheng’s popular Chinese Danmei novel ‘Professional Body Double’, the series stars Up Poompat (Lovely Writer) and Poom Phuripan (Bake Me Please) as Zhou Xiang and Ming Xiu. “My Stand In” is adapted from one of the ‘188’ Novels titled ‘Professional Body Double’ by Shui Qian Cheng. 188 are a series of popular Chinese Danmei novels that centre around exceptionally tall men. The series currently has 30+ works. IQIYI and YYDS have been consistently updating latest stills from the show and the ambience sure looks intriguing.

Synopsis-

The story portrays the relationship between two men over two lifetimes. In both of them Ming Xiu treats Zhou Xiang as a substitute for the person he truly loves. Does their relationship stand a chance?

Sammon Scene’s Upcoming Projects

Popular Thai BL author Sammon Scene (Manner of Death, Triage, Make A Wish) has not one but two upcoming projects in the pipeline. Sammon is collaborating with WaGa Creative on her second adaptation, “Lost on the River”. Adapted from her unreleased novel of the same name, the love story revolves around Thara, a cardiac surgeon and Khet, a producer and owner of a music company who becomes captivated by him.

Alongside, Sammon has also confirmed that her other popular novel, Euthanasia will be adapted as “Spare Me Your Mercy”. Recently, one of the staff members from the related production house confirmed the fact that the show’s trailer will be officially released in early Feb along with 4 other projects as OneD Original Series. Sammon affirmed the same by reposting the tweet. Fans who were eagerly awaiting the news about this adaptation are surely ecstatic and awaiting further details!

Synopsis-

Police Cpt. Wasan returns home to find his mothers death might be linked to a suspicious rise in terminal patient deaths. Gun, who cared for Wasans mother, becomes his solace. As the mystery unfolds, Gun becomes the main suspect. Can Wasan trust his lover?

Tadaima, Okaeri

The anime’s official account has released the official poster along with the news that the eagerly awaited adaptation is set to premiere in 2024. Adapted from Japanese manga author Ichi Ichikawa’s work of the same name, the storyline is set in an omegaverse and chronicles the daily lives of Masaki Fujiyoshi and his husband Hiromu as they raise their two-year-old son, Hikari.

Synopsis-

Masaki Fujiyoshi is a stay-at-home spouse and parent. He has fought long and hard with feelings of being a burden to his loving husband, Hiromu, due to his status as an omega—and the difficulty they faced to achieve this domesticity. When their son, Hikari, was born, the family moved to an area better suited for raising children.

Hikari is now nearing his second birthday, and he and his parents are forging meaningful bonds with those around them. These include the beta high schooler living next door, Yuuki, to whom Hikari has become rather attached; Hiromu’s friend from work Matsuo; and the mysterious single dad seen wandering around the park.

Despite their newfound domestic bliss, the family’s ties to their past are in tatters. There are people they left behind to pursue the creation of their happy family, and when they begin to return, Masaki and Hiromu aren’t quite sure they have good intentions.

Sahara-sensei and Toki-kun

MBS has unveiled the official poster and trailer for the fourth installment of this year’s Tunku Drama Shower. “Sahara-sensei to Toki-kun”, will take over the slot of their recently concluded miniseries “One Room Angel”. Adapted from the manga series “Sahara-sensei to Toki-kun” (佐原先生と土岐くん) by Toriya Ko (鳥谷コウ), actors Takumi Kizu and Rintaro Hachimura (WATWING) will be playing the lead roles, Ichiro Sahara, a handsome physical education teacher, and Toki Kanade, a yankee who falls in love with Sahara at first sight. The show will premiere on 30th November, 2023.

Synopsis-

Toki Kaneda is a delinquent who gets into lots of fights. But despite his appearance, he is a pure-hearted guy. He gains favor with handsome physical education teacher Sahara Ichiro, who he subsequently happens to fall for. As a result, he begins to go to school daily just to see Sahara. Thus begins a one-sided, earnest love situation between a refreshingly handsome teacher and a yankee student!

“Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!” Anime

The official accounts for the anime adaptation of Yū Toyota’s manga “Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! “(30-sai Dōtei da to Mahō Tsukai ni Nareru Rashii) have unveiled the key visual and the premiere date. Broadcast will start on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 on TV Tokyo and will simultaneously air on BS TV Tokyo.

Synopsis:

Having never had sex in his life, after Kiyoshi Adachi reaches his 30th birthday he becomes a “wizard”. He develops an ability to hear the thoughts of other people by touching them. One day, he accidently touches his popular co-worker, Yuichi Kurosawa, and discovers that Yuichi is in love with him. While dealing with the awkwardness of being able to hear Kurosawa’s rather forthright feelings towards him, Adachi comes to terms with how much Kurosawa values him and starts to develop reciprocal feelings of his own.

Behind the Shadow

KBS has announced their special drama “Behind the Shadow” as a part of their “Drama Special Season 14: TV Cinema” edition. Directed by Lee Dae Kyung, the drama stars Ren (a former member of the boy group NU’EST), Park Sang Nam, Hong Seung Hee, and Ham Eun-jung in the lead roles. “Behind the Shadow” depicts the story of love and friendship between Joseon youth who want to convey their true feelings despite the taboos of that time. Set to premiere on November 24th 2023, KBS Drama has unveiled official posters, stills and trailers for the show. The plotline certainly looks intriguing.
