Japanese GLs seem to be the flavor of the new year, with not one but two upcoming releases in 2024. It has been a slow curve for GL productions, but the massive hit “Gap The Series” has suddenly turned the wheel of fortune. Starting from Thailand, the revolution is now spreading to Japanese shores, with avid producers banking on the sudden popularity of this genre.

Chaser Game W: Power Harassment Joshi wa Watashi no Moto Kano

Following up on the announcement of the live-action adaptation, TV Tokyo has unveiled the official poster of their first lesbian romance “Chaser Game W: Power Harassment Joshi wa Watashi no Moto Kano”, alongside additional casting. Adapted from Hiroshi Matsuyama’s manga of the same name, the show stars Sugai Yuuka & Nakamura Yurika in the lead roles of Harumoto Itsuki & Hayashi Fuyu. The first live-action adaptation of the manga “Chaser Game” aired in September 2022 and it received a lot of positive responses, which prompted the second time adaptation. As per sources at TV Tokyo, the settings, storyline and characters that are not found in the original work. The show is set to premiere on January 08, 2024.

Synopsis-

The story features Sugai as Itsuki Harumoto, who works at the game development company Dynamic Dream and has been selected as the leader of a major joint project between Japan and China. Nakamura is Itsuki’s ex-girlfriend, Hayashi Fuyu, the head of a major Chinese content company that is a client. Fuyu, who resents the fact that Itsuki dumped her during their university days without explaining the reason, takes control of the project and imposes difficult tasks on Itsuki, such as power harassment. However, Itsuki rekindles her love when her ex-lover suddenly appears in front of her.

She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat 2

NHK has announced that the live-action adaptation of Sakaomi Yuzaki’s GL romance ‘She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat’ (‘Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna’) will premiere in January 2024. All 10 episodes of “Season 1” that aired last year will be rebroadcast in the same night drama slot from January 9, 2024 (Tuesday) for those who missed the previous work or want to review it. All 20 episodes of the new “Season 2” will be broadcast from January 29th (Monday).

Starting actresses Manami Higa and Emi Nishino in the lead roles of Nomoto and Kasuga, the show follows the story of two single ladies who are neighbors. Nomoto is passionate about cooking while Kasuga enjoys eating. As they bond over their love for food, Nomoto eventually develops feelings for Kasuga. Directed by Yui Matsusaki and Niroyuki Nakata, with Yuri Yamada writing the script, “She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat” is the first program on NHK’s “YoruDora” drama block to get a sequel.
