“City of Stars” First Impressions (Ep.1 & 2)

Exploring the Twinkling Universe of “City of Stars”: A Fresh Perspective!

So here I am again, ready to dive into another captivating journey within the realm of Thai BL series. “City of Stars” beckons with its promise of intertwining technology and human connection, drawing me in with its intriguing premise even before the opening credits roll. As a seasoned enthusiast of the genre, I’ve learned to appreciate the nuances of storytelling, and this series seems poised to offer something truly unique.

I made sure to familiarize myself with the plot and even saw snippets of the trailer before diving into the first two episodes. Although the idea of technology being used as a storytelling device is not new, it always raises the suspense because one never knows how it will fit in with the overall story. My curiosity was piqued by “City of Stars,” as I wondered how each scenario may develop and come together. For me, one of the main appeals of the series was the presence of well-known characters. Excitement was sparked by the presence of Kimmon and Bank Thanathip, two adored actors from the GEN Y Series. Their participation assured me of a caliber and genuineness that I was looking forward to.

As the story progressed, we were introduced to the new characters, Job Krisz as Krommatha and Porsche Sitha as Fuengnakorn. Their strong chemistry gave the narrative life and created the foundation for an exciting voyage ahead. With a charming mix of humor and charm, Episode 1 sprung onto the screen and took me by surprise with its infectious enthusiasm. A further degree of mystery was given by the surprising appearance of abs and skinship teasers, which alluded to the exciting developments that were about to come.

But amidst the good times, there were hints of strain that started to show. There were still unanswered questions, ones I knew would come to light eventually. A layer of complexity was added to Fuengnakorn and Krommatha’s relationship as their growing affection suggested deeper feelings that were just waiting to be discovered. However, as with any compelling story, there were signs of impending conflict. I was curious to see how the plot would develop because of the unique element of fans versus Krommatha. My curiosity was further piqued by the antagonist’s identity’s mystery, which kept me captivated with the series right up to the very end.

I can’t help but be amazed by the complexity of “City of Stars'” story and the potential it has as I impatiently await the next chapter. This show will definitely keep viewers interested and come to a satisfactory end because every episode promises fresh insights and turns. Hopefully, the voyage that lies ahead will be just as captivating as the stars that illuminate the night sky.

  1. CITY OF STARS is a good BL to be airing right now with the real life situations involving GMMTV actors Neo (happy news) and Pawin (disturbing news). In both cases, their personal lives have punctured the illusion of their on-screen couplings, which, of course, impacts not only them, but also their on-screen partners.
While the romance between the leads will be the main story, it certainly feels like there be some drama involving fans’ reaction after they discover Fueangnakhon is “cheating” on his on-screen ship, Kodit. (Kodit is also “cheating” on Fueangnakhon with their female co-star, but appears to be doing so less openly.) I am interested to see how this plays out, since there are a few well known ships in the BL world in which it is highly believed that one of the pair is queer in real-life while the other isn’t. These must be incredibly difficult waters for actors to navigate.
On the negative side, the language translation from Thai to English is a little choppier than in most BLs from bigger production companies. At least a couple of the characters appear to be kathoey and that results in some hard-to-translate gender dialogue.
