25 Ji, Akasaka de

TV Tokyo and GagaOOLala announced the launch of their upcoming live-action drama “At 25:00, in Akasaka”. Adapted from the manga series “25 Ji, Akasaka de” (25時、赤坂で) by Natsuno Hiroko (夏野寛子), the story explores the fascinating “what if” scenario of two actors, known for their roles as a BL couple, being in a romantic relationship in real life. Premieres 18th April on Gagaoolala.

Synopsis-

The plot follows Yuki Shirasaki (Taisuke Niihara), a rookie actor who seizes his chance during an audition and lands a role opposite the popular senior actor, Asami Hayama (Kiita Komagine), in a BL drama. As Shirasaki grapples with the pressure of his first major role, Hayama proposes that they enter into a “relationship for the sake of their roles” until filming concludes. This pseudo-romantic involvement between them off-screen leads to a poignant and beautifully crafted love story that delves into the complexities of relationships within the entertainment industry and between actors.

Tadaima, Okaeri

Adapted from Japanese manga author Ichi Ichikawa’s work of the same name, the storyline chronicles the daily lives of Masaki Fujiyoshi and his husband Hiromu as they raise their two-year-old son, Hikari. Streaming on Crunchyroll, starting 8th April, 2024.

Synopsis-

Masaki Fujiyoshi is a stay-at-home spouse and parent. He has fought long and hard with feelings of being a burden to his loving husband, Hiromu, due to his status as an omega—a secondary gender, allowing one to give birth regardless of if they are male or female— and the difficulty they faced to achieve this domesticity. When their son, Hikari, was born, the family moved to an area better suited for raising children.

Hikari is now nearing his second birthday, and he and his parents are forging meaningful bonds with those around them. These include the beta college student living next door, Yuuki, to whom Hikari has become rather attached; Hiromu’s friend from work Matsuo; and the mysterious single dad seen wandering around the park.

Despite their newfound domestic bliss, the family’s ties to their past are in tatters. There are people they left behind to pursue the creation of their happy family, and when they begin to return, Masaki and Hiromu aren’t quite sure they have good intentions.

Global Examination/ Quan Qiu Gao Kao

Musuli’s danmei novel “Global Examination/Quan Qiu Gao Kao” is being adapted by Netflix. Rumored casting involves Taiwanese actor Tseng Jing Hua (“Your Name Engraved Herein” & “Oh No! Here Comes Trouble”) and Chinese actor Lin Yi (“Derailment” & “Everyone Loves Me”).

Synopsis-

A global-scale exam system is pulling people randomly into an alternate dimension, forcing them to take exams with varying (read: very high) levels of difficulty and peril. Overseen by the System’s examination officers, the only way to escape seems to be passing your exams with a total score above the qualifying threshold. The System thoughtfully provides rewards for good performance, like extra points or bonus cards for special privileges. However, if you break the System’s rules, you will also be punished accordingly. Not even examiners are exempt.

You Huo finds himself a victim of this ridiculous examination system, along with his alcoholic uncle, Old Yu, and younger cousin, Yu Wen. It’s not been long since he returned from overseas, recovering from surgery and still missing a good chunk of memories. Now, he wakes up in a snowed-in cabin in the middle of nowhere, with a room full of eclectic individuals — elderly, children, hooligans, and pregnant women. And some stupid voice is announcing the rules of an exam? What a headache. He just wants to keep sleeping.

And speaking of headaches, it’s not long before You Huo’s disregard for rules brings the System’s examiners to their door. Leading the party is the main examiner assigned to their exam, Examiner 001…
