I never thought that I could get addicted to a reality dating show, but “Sparks Camp” proved me wrong!
Black Sheep and ABS-CBN Studio’s “Sparks Camp Season Two” ended on a high note and I’m already suffering from the withdrawal symptoms. Honestly I really loved the contestants this season, it could be the quirky Miggy Ruallo, brave Pipoy Oreiro or the fabulous Ejay (doesn’t mean, I didn’t like the other contestants). Each camper bought a different flavor to this potboiler that was wildly exciting and spontaneous. The sparks were sparkling yet meaningful, “Moment of Truth” was honest and insightful while Mela Habijan as Mother Camper was a soothing presence. Directed by Theodore Boborol (whom we recently interviewed), the show was bigger, bolder and more versatile; and we are not just talking about the contestants who were from different walks of life. They had stories to share; some endearing, others remorseful. We are going to talk more about the intricacies of this show in our review, so buckle your seatbelts!
Before embarking on this journey, let’s get reacquainted with the campers!

Zuher & Martin
Like Zuher mentioned, this couple’s historic journey began when Martin tried to get Zuher drunk because he wanted to hit on Universe. Unknowingly, they ended up in a veritable love triangle, with Zuher decisively choosing Martin because of Universe’s inconsistent nature. There were a lot of ups and downs in this relationship because Zuher seemed to hold onto his mutual spark with Universe for a long time; while Martin patiently waited at the sidelines. Until Zuher actually saw him and appreciated his efforts. The rest as we know is history. Zuher & Martin walked away as the first official couple of Season Two last night and fans were overjoyed. It was long overdue (atleast for Martin) and we are delighted to see the lovely couple together; especially since this show was Zuher’s attempt at “Coming Out”.
Kyle & Allan
Another intriguing couple who were a surprise package; I was least expecting them to choose each other. Since the show started, I have been a huge fan of Kyle. He is calm and composed, even under duress. Having faced heartbreak at close quarters, Kyle was still brave enough to join this show. Allan on the other hand has striking personality and is sympathetic. In the initial stages, he seemed enamored with Universe (like most guys) and Kyle wasn’t making any breakthrough with the other campers (despite being a catch). Fortunately, they went on a date and stuck a chord. Despite the comfort and camaraderie they share, I wasn’t sure if they would choose each other. So, Kyle & Allan ending up together was a total surprise; albeit pleasant and heartwarming.
Final Thoughts
Despite the long and tumultuous journey, I was invested in all of them!
Especially Pipoy, Ejay and Miggy who were my favorites and although they didn’t end up with mutual sparks, I’m hoping that they would find better partners in near future who will cherish them for lives. I was cheering on Zuher to end up with Martin; I guess the key to their relationship is “Consistency”. Allan & Kyle were a shocking entrant at the end, but they make a compatible pair. Some shows leave you feeling contented, “Sparks Camp Season Two” was one such show for me. Love to the entire team at “Sparks Camp Season Two”.

This was a very entertaining show with lots of “villians”.
I think a lot of people went on to get more followers for their media endeavors and businesses and I think that is a fair trade. They are at this camp for a week and it was a blast!
Several contestants were eloquent and shared openly- it felt deeper and more varied than season 1. My faves were Pipoy, Alan and Kyle. My fave “villians” were Zuher and Universe:)
Here’s to a 3rd season!
