Sunday’s are your time to relax and recline. Taking a detour from our normal style, we decided to try something new. With new teasers and trailers dropping almost every day, we thought it was prudent to dissect them purposefully. With this taunting task in mind, our team members set out on a crusade to analyze the latest trendsetters on the block!
Peaceful Property
Bookish Veenita States-
Wherever TayNew goes, we follow. Even if it is inside a decrepit house infested with vengeful spirits. And we don’t regret it a bit.
A prodigal heir turned failed real estate agent suffering from unsold haunted houses,
A desperate chef who is also suffering from haunted places because he can SEE ghosts,
A social media addict little sister who has her nose in the money,
And, a strict workaholic attorney who was given the job to see the lawful sales.
The four join forces together as ghostbusters to drive away the ghosts from the properties and sell them to the highest bidders. Aaaaand shenanigans ensue.
In the abundance of horror elements infused in comedic moments of Thai BL series, “Peaceful Property” looks like a breath of fresh air.
The official trailer looks like this is what I have been waiting for. Bold colors, comic timings, perfect amount of horror elements and jump scares – nothing over the top- and pure professional hilarious acting without too much melodrama – this is what I want in a horror comedy.
I doubt it is a BL. The pilot trailer too did not feel like it was a BL even then. But with TayNew, one of the most gorgeous teams of GMMTV- both in visuals and acting- you don’t have to worry. These two men can even make the most boring show full of chemistry just by existing together.
Perth and ForceBook were pleasant surprises.
All in all, our empty Wednesdays just got more exciting. We will be watching Peaceful Property from 28th August on GMMTV and Viu.

So, since it’s TayNew, the show is supposed to be a BL, right? Wrong, GMMTV actually dared to cast their most prominent and veteran couple in a “Bromance”. They really had the audacity to do so, after we saw them walk down the aisle in “Cherry Magic Thai”.
If you are looking for some serious ghostbusting, then you might be disappointed; New Thitipoom will be starring in a comic role as the heir of a wealthy and famous Thai family, who returns home from abroad after his grandfather’s sudden death. The highlight being- he has a bevy of haunted houses to sell and a ghostbuster duo/siblings to handle. Tay on the other hand stars as a chef who is unable to cook and has the ability to see ghosts. Classic twist right!
Hijinks ensue when our dynamic couple are joined by Jan Ployshompoo (crazy influencer) & Mook Worranit (scary attorney). The “Peaceful Property” team is assembled but can they really hunt ghosts?
The show might not be a proper BL, but the subtle touch of bromance between TayNew showcases their abundant chemistry, it cannot be dimmed in the slightest!
The On1y One

You know how when you watch a trailer it gives you butterflies in the stomach because you have seen something so similar before and you absolutely loved it but also went through heart-shattering pain?
That is what I actually felt while watching the trailer.
At the first glance, the resemblance of the trailer immediately reminded me of the famous (or infamous whatever you see fit) “Addicted Heroin” series because of the theme and the school setting. On the other hand, the director is Mr. Liu Kuang Hui, the mastermind director of legendary LGBTQ+ film “Your Name Engraved Herein”.
Taiwanese LGBTQ+ series have their own style and elements. They are fun, they have amazing acting, the storylines don’t usually shy away from showing darker stuff. And they never disappoint. Especially after “Unknown” I am looking out for more and more well-developed stories in Taiwanese queer media.
While the trailer showcases typical BL aesthetics—soft melodies, stunning visuals, and that signature BL shimmer—I have high hopes for a more substantial story given the director’s talent.
First episode is airing next week from 22nd August, and I, for one, cannot wait. You can watch it on Gagaoolala, Netflix, IQIYI and VIKI.

For those who are currently watching the Thai version of “Addicted Heroin” (after having watched the classic Chinese version & “Stay With Me”), this teaser might be a whiplash.
Obviously, stepbrothers romance seems to be trending, everyone is getting on the bandwagon. And the short glimpses of the story line that we get from the teaser seems to point towards the obvious.
The melancholy is set with subtle tones and colors which offset the ensuing heartbreak (because I’m obviously expecting one, it cannot be a stepbrother romance without one).
What we can expect is abundant chemistry between the main leads, because Taiwanese cinema is superior like that!
Affair The Series
Bookish Veenita States-
Chao Planoy has a reputation. That is both controversial and influential.
On one hand her stories are highly toxic but on the other hand she has given us back-to-back hits.
If you are wondering who in the world Chao Planoy is, she is the writer of the original novel of Affair who has also written some of the most lauded GL series like GAP, Blank, My Marvellous Dream is You and Pluto.
From the first glance, the trailer felt rather short, but it certainly piqued my interest.
There are definitely cheating elements in this one, there will be pain, heartbreak and more. Typical Cha Planoy style of work. I do hope that the producer, director and the whole team keep the toxicity minimum and arrange the script to more female gaze and the storytelling, like they did to GAP. The director is a woman which I find great to be in a GL.
Let’s see how Affair unfolds. It’s out on 30th August. Share your thoughts in the comments.

CHANGE2561 has been adopting a serious attitude towards its BL shows. After bankrolling “Pit Babe Series” into a massive hit last year, the production house has decided to test its luck in the GL genre.
Their first GL production “Affair The Series” is set to premiere this month end and the promotions are in full swing. Adapted from the novel “Affair” by Chao Planoy, who is a popular name in the GL industry (GAP, Blank, My Marvelous Dream is You & the upcoming Pluto), the storyline is as angsty as it could get. That’s a prominent feature of Chao’s novels, the characters only ever get their “Happy Ending” after going through a roller coaster which is both heart wrenching and emotional.
The lead actresses seem quite comfortable with each other and their chemistry shines through the short teaser that hints at a “Friends To Lovers” romance!
Love in the Big City
Bookish Veenita States-
A gay man and his straight female best friend living together? Count me in! Where do I sign up?
This trailer has already sparked some controversies. BUT if the actual content delivers what the trailer has depicted, this is going to be a brilliant work of art. I love some good non problematic friendship stories.
The lively music, colorful visuals, and overall vibe give off major Hollywood rom-com energy. I would be watching this film for sure. Rest of the discussion after it drops.

Probably the most anticipated release in 2024, Park Sang Young’s “Love in the Big City” has movie adaptation lined up for release and a live-action drama in making. Makes you wonder what the storyline is about, to have kick started two different versions?
The recently released trailer showcases the strong bonding between the main leads Jae Hee (Kim Go Eun) & Heung Soo (Steve Noh), a straight woman and her gay best friend. The trailer has sparked off a fresh debate on the fact that the storytelling might be entirely focused on Jae Hee & Heung Soo might be sidelined.
The novel is one of the most celebrated works in Korea for portraying the prejudices faced by the LGBTQ community; will the movie version depict the same? That remains to be seen!
Twins
Bookish Veenita States-
Are we going to finally see a show revolving around a throuple from South Korea? Groundbreaking! The theme, the concept looks interesting. The cinematography looks visually appealing. The actors don’t seem to shy away from steamy scenes as well. A nice surprise from the more modesty-loving country.
Kim Chang Kyu from “His Man” (Season 1) is already stealing the spotlight. The trailer is much shorter to my liking but it’s a good introduction for the series itself.
After “The Eighth Sense” and “Love for Love’s Sake”, my expectations from Korean Bl has increased tenfold. I hope Twins will be able to live up to the hype.
Krishna Naidu States-
A throuple in a Korean BL?
That was the first question that came to my mind after watching this trailer. Sure enough, the short film has been making waves. Unfortunately, the availability has been limited to a streaming portal.
Now focusing on the trailer, we have Kim Chang Kyu from (His Man Season One) starring opposite Seo Tae-Woong. Korean BLs have recently become quite daring (you will get my drift if you are watching City Boys Log or Sukfilm’s recent releases). The chemistry is on-spot and it would be nice watching something different. But and that’s a big but, global availability is currently squashing our dreams, so let’s hope for the best while enjoying this trailer!
We would love to hear your comments on this new section, so join in the conversation!
Teaser Trailer Sunday is a great idea! My only suggestion would be to list the streaming platform(s) directly under the title of the series. Sadly, if a series isn’t on a platform I have access to, I don’t want to watch the trailer since I don’t want to get hooked and think about subscribing to one more service! Even more disappointing is a series like SUGAR DOG LIFE which doesn’t appear to have an official international platform (and I hate to use unauthorized / illegal streaming sites.)
