“Your Sky” Series Review (Ep.3 to 12)

This is one of those shows that kickstarts in a surprisingly good manner, moves at a snail’s pace and goes off-track towards the end!

Adapted from the novel “Your Sky” (Your sky #กี่หมื่นฟ้า) by 25.15.66, the show stars three new fresh pairings- lead couple Muenfah (Thomas Teetut)- Teerak (Kong Kongpob); supporting couples, Real (Auau Thanaphum)- Hia (Save Worapong) & Punlee (Por Suppakarn)- Klaijai (TeeTee Wanpichit). All three love stories have different wavelengths, are choppy in places but oddly enticing. I’m not dissing this show, but apart from the cute, fluffy moments between the three pairings and a big showdown in the penultimate episode, the storytelling doesn’t hold much substance. But then you can’t expect anything more from a Mandee Work adaptation; they specifically choose subjects which are more about romance and less about character growth. The main couple do try their level best to lead the narrative in their charming way, but there is only so much they can do. So, if you are looking for a meaningful romance with thoughtful reconnaissance, then this show might not be up your alley!

The Sweet Couple Do Win Your Heart

Despite their abundant differences, Teerak & Fah click in an odd way. Teerak is sweet, innocent, naive & plain oblivious while Muenfah is the campus hottie, rich, reserved and temperamental. They enter into a fake, contract like dating farce because the campus creep Oh (Mike Chinnarat) won’t leave Teerak alone. What starts as a false pretense quickly escalates when the duo start developing feelings for real. Thomas & Kong make a visual couple, they look handsome together and their chemistry is sweet, ethereal. I just wish there was more to their relationship just than the overloaded sweet moments sprinkled throughout the narrative. The only character growth I saw was Teerak standing upto his homophobic father when he rebukes their relationship. Apart from that, there isn’t much drama happening and our couple frolick to a “Happily Ever After” that doesn’t need 12 episodes of storytelling!

The Bickering Couple With Hysterical Antics

There are sweet couples like Fah & Teerak and then there are annoying ones like Real & Hia who thrive on chaos. From the start, it is obvious that Real has feelings for Hia who is plain oblivious to his close friend’s affections. They keep annoying each other to no end, dancing around their feelings without comprehending what they want. It was tiring to the extent that I stopped hoping they would give up on the pretense; until Real suddenly strikes and takes the initiative to express his interest. Even after that, Hia is unsettled and only Real’s avoidance makes him accept his feelings. They are spicy though, so that makes up for the pain they put us through!

The Couple Who Could Have Been So Much More

One of my favorite couples, they had the least amount of screentime. Lee & Khlai have a shy, almost calm relationship. Neither have confessed their feelings for each other, but they know what the other person thinks. The show kind of leaves their relationship in a conundrum, so I was hoping they star in a sequel or another show because the actors have oodles of chemistry. Wishes do come true because Por & TeeTee will be acting in “Duang With You Series”

Is it a Worthwhile Watch

With the amount of BL dramas dropping everyday, you can’t spare time to watch every one of them; but you can make an exception if you are on the lookout for a sweet romance without much substance!

The show only revolves around the main couple, them falling for each other, recognizing their feelings, confession and them seeking parental approval. There isn’t much happening outside that circumference, the supporting couples do add some flavor, but that’s about it. Don’t go looking for show that makes life altering changes and you will breeze through this one!
