“True love doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t go through a break-up. Sometimes, you go apart to understand the value of getting back together”
This quote pretty much sums up the premise of this sequel, which has been four years in making. Starring Lin Zai Zai & Lyan Cheng in lead roles, the story follows Yi Min’s journey as she reunites with her long-lost love, Ting Ting. The pilot episodes are a somber experience, with both protagonists charting their own path, barely reuniting in the epicenter. The detailing in the sequel is much better than the prequel, the screenplay offers valuable insights as the main protagonists reunite after a long time. There are no sporadic outbursts this time around, the show focuses on their individual struggles; but at the same time, there are few sprinkled moments of sweet adolescence. Time heals everything, even deep wounds of distress and betrayal.
What is Happening in the Sequel

After their separation in the prequel, Yi Min (Lin Zai Zai) and Ting Ting (Lyan Cheng) have moved apart. Yi Min has divorced her husband who got the custody for their son, Xiao Zhe (Hong Jun Han). While searching for a new job, Yi Min finds a pamphlet about a new band. Ironically, it turns out to be Ting Ting’s band, she and her bandmates are trying to debut their new single at a music festival. Their paths converge when Yi Min returns to their high school to keep a promise made to Ting Ting. The first meeting is bittersweet, Yi Min is happy yet cautious while Ting Ting is ecstatic to meet her long-lost love. The chemistry between the main leads remain unchanged, it has even gotten better.
Is it a Worthwhile Watch

The show doesn’t shy away from addressing their issues from the offset, so is reconciliation on the table?
Yi Min has been secretly stalking Ting Ting after discovering her band’s social media, but she clearly maintains a distance. I kept wondering about the reason behind her hesitation, now that she is divorced and single. Ting Ting obviously has the same affections for Yi Min, but she seems doubtful about her intentions. Will these doubts, insecurities and fears make or break their relationship? Only time will tell!
