An intelligence agency spy, a crime syndicate and its employee who might not know anything about their crimes!
VBL’s last venture “Eternal Butler” was a huge success with a streamlined storytelling and an excellent casting. I was hoping that their new project “Fight for You” will keep up with the same momentum. Unfortunately it does and doesn’t. Starring Andy Ko & Nelson Ji in lead roles, the show focuses on the unlikely entanglement between the main couple. The main leads have a decent chemistry but the storytelling is off-track and it leaves you pretty confused. This was the major problem in most VBL’s productions which they seemed to have overcome in “Eternal Butler”. I’m not sure if it is because the shows had different directors and screenwriters. But the leads can only do so much to save the show from sinking like a blasted ship in the middle of the ocean!
Storyline & Characters

Hei Yu Bo/Da Hei (Andy Ko) works at a roadside stall with his grandmother. Sadly, their meager income isn’t enough to support Da Hei’s sister who is undergoing a major surgery. His nextdoor neighbor Dou Ke Yi (Wills Sia) comes to his rescue by offering him a job at his “Dou Convenience Store”. Da Hei reluctantly takes on these odd jobs to earn medical funds, unaware that his roommate Xiao Bai (Nelson Ji) is secretly an operative sent by the intelligence agency to take them down. Xiao Bai belongs to a family of elite intelligence agents. Sadly, he is not on par with his Grandfather or his elder brother. To fulfill their high expectations, he takes on this odd job of tailing Da Hei, since he works for a crime syndicate which is disguised as a “All-Service House” that accepts any task, whether it’s walking dogs, finding cats, or even stabbing people. Ironically, Da Hei isn’t involved in the illegal activities because Dou Ke Yi treats him like a younger brother. The storyline is littered with comical situations where Xiao Bai tries to figure out if Da Hei is involved in any illegal deals, misleading Da Hei and making him believe that Xiao Bai might have a crush on him.
Is it a Worthwhile Watch

The main leads have a good chemistry but I’m not sure if it will be enough salvage the ratings!
The storyline is all over the place which is kind of outputting. The pilot episodes doesn’t give a decent introduction of the characters, their backstory or purpose. You are left to guess what the main leads are upto, specifically Xiao Bai. He is adorably flustered and kind of lame when it comes to investigations, but his budding romance with Da Hei is interesting!
