“Pit Babe The Series (Season Two)” First Impressions (Ep.1 & 2)

Continuation of the hit supernatural Thai-BL and adapted from the novel of the same name, “Pit Babe The Series Season Two” is a series full of race cars, mysterious happenings, and supernaturally powerful beings. From the first episode, we start seeing competitions, new decisions, arrival of new characters and the return of some old ones grambling with mysterious incidents. Babe (Pavel Naret), the undefeated king of the racing track loses his crown when new rookie racer, Willy (Milk Natchanon) beats him in a race.

The first episode starts with Pavel, who is playing the title character, Babe having a nightmare followed by Charlie (Pooh Krittin), calming him down. Kim (Benz Atthanin), another racer in X- Hunter company resigns to move forward with his career, to be honest I am very invested in his story and wish to see where his story arc and character goes. Another new twist in the story is that Way/Chris (Nut Supanut) is back (but is he? Or is it someone else?). I wish that Pete (Ping Orbnithi) could find his closure or get his happy ending in this season. Despite taking the power sealing power, Jeff is still getting his visions, and predicting future predicaments related to his colleagues in X-Hunter. The second episode follows up with the confusion that occurs when Chris joins Pete’s company as their new researcher. He looks exactly like Way, who is presumably dead. Tony who was declared dead also returns to play the antagonist. He promptly kidnaps Kenta (Garfield Pantach) and Winner (Pop Pataraphol) to assist him in his attempts to destroy X-Hunter again. In the midst of this chaos, Willy tries to flirt with Babe. I am a little skeptical about Willy’s character as I have zero idea of what he is planning to do.

Also, I hate the miscommunication and misunderstanding trope that occurs repeatedly in a most BL stories. I wish writers took a different angle on the Charlie-Babe relationship angle than this repeated misunderstanding trope. I’m also excited for the introduction of new villains who aim to destroy X-Hunter, as well as the character Kenta; I look forward to watching his backstory. I am also excited to watch North-Sonic’s (Michael Kiettisak & TopTen Supakorn) love story, as I find them cute and innocent. I hope they have a cute romance with NO ANGST.

Pavel has come a long way since “2moons2”; his acting skills have improved significantly. However, I hope that his chemistry with Pooh develops more naturally and doesn’t feel forced or cringeworthy. I have high hopes for their dynamic as they have amazing sensual chemistry but while performing non-sensual scene, I hope they become more natural. In contrast, I feel that Sailub Hemmawich (Alan) and Pon Thanapon (Jeff) have a natural and enjoyable chemistry, making their presence and screen time in the series pleasant to watch. Overall, I am intrigued by the current fast-paced nature of the series and excited to watch the unraveling of all the mysteries, hidden secrets, and blossoming of some new relationships.
