Some shows are good, some are bad; there are some which are midway, you know they are bad but yet you can’t stop watching them!
“Flirt Milk” belongs to the third category. Announced as a part of Star Hunter Entertainment’s 2023 Lineup, the show has been long in making. When the fans almost lost hope that the show might see the daylight, Star Hunter Entertainment dropped the promotions for this romcom. Without much fanfare or marketing, the show premiered to low expectations. Adapted from the novel “Rak Rot Nom Juet” (รักรสนมจืด) by Arpo, the storyline is centered around Nomjuet, a dental student who is naive, sweet and innocent. So much so, that his best friends guard him fiercely and are extremely overprotective. Chaos ensues when he unexpectedly meets Phra-ek, a junior from the photography club. Their personalities clash but somehow they end up falling in love. The show doesn’t have much substance; alongside the two supporting couples, it manages to maintain your interest in the ten or so odd episodes. There isn’t much happening that you haven’t seen before in BL adaptations!
The Boring Titular Main Leads

I’m sorry to say this, but the main couple fail to keep you invested in their relationship. Nom Jued (Neel Kawich) has an extremely naive personality while Phra Aek (Pooh Poohrin) is his complete opposite, cunning and street smart. They have a cardboard relationship, you never understand why they fell for each other. Guess, Phra Aek’s sudden influaction is understandable because he falls for Nom Jued’s innocence; but for three fourths of the drama, Nom Jued seems oblivious to Phra Aek’s affections. That says a lot about his naivete, he is a grown up man who is still childish. Sadly, Neel & Pooh do look good together but lack chemistry. Their kissing scenes look too forced, atleast on Pooh’s part with Neel giving his best but failing because it didn’t work in the end.
The Spicy Second Lead Couple

“Enemies to Lover’s” trope never gets old; Phra Rong & Phai are a classic example of the same. Grumpy and hugely overprotective of his friend, Nom Jued, Phai is temperamental. As against Phra Rong who is calm, composed and reasonable. Their tussle in the cafe shop is epic and despite having arguements that are strangely endearing, Phra Rong manages to win over Phai with his continuous efforts and unwavering attention. Phai doesn’t give up easily but that doesn’t stop Phra Rong from giving him rides on a daily basis to handling his weird mood swings. Newton Waiyakorn & Paul Somphop have an awesome chemistry; as compared to the main leads. I kept wondering why they weren’t the main leads instead?
The Utterly Disinteresting Couple

Yingyam & Beauty sure make a beautiful couple; aesthetic wise and that’s where the intrigue ends. They are as boring as the main couple. Beauty is a nude model, suspectible to wild rumors. Yingyam is her best friend and has a longtime crush on her but doesn’t act on her affections because Beauty is a wild cat. Somewhere along the line, they end up together after Beauty breaks up with her girlfriend, Jan. Noon Thunyaphat & Praewa Putticha have oodles of chemistry. Unfortunately their storyline doesn’t do them justice.
Is it a Worthwhile Watch

I did enjoy the show because there isn’t much to watch on weekends!
I wish Star Hunter Entertainment would invest in better scriptwriter’s or directors. I don’t know where it went wrong, but presumably the storytelling was inconsistent. Also, the main lead couple fail to rouse your attention. For a show that was in making for years, “Flirt Milk” was a wasted effort!
