Last Meal Universe: A Thai- Bromance Show with Sci-Fi elements in it!!
Summary: Shun (Ritz Rueangritz) is a galactic civil engineer with a unique assignment: demolishing Earth to make way for a new intergalactic expressway. Naturally, earthlings have no clue of this impending doom.
On his first day on earth, Chondan (Gun Napat), the owner of a quaint Thai restaurant, enthralls Shun with his mouthwatering homemade dishes. Consequently, Shun secretly postpones his world-ending plan, lured by the promise of more delicious meals with Chondan. If he ever grows tired of the flavours, he can return to his original mission.
I am a little confused about how to explain this series. I was excited for an exhilarating ride in a Sci-Fi BL series, but what we got was more of a bromance; until the very end, when we got to see something intimate, only, coupled with the fictional elements. I would have preferred it if it had focused on that more. I do find Shun’s character cute. I mean, he comes to earth with a devil plan to destroy Earth, but ends up postponing it because he gets to taste food that probably tastes like heaven. Now, his entry was very chaotic, and so was his first meeting with Chodan, and instantly, he is inside the cafe, eating food. This is adorable yet weird, and feels rushed, but I understand the inconsistency, since the show is only a mini-series of 8 episodes.

The series is an enjoyable blend of cuteness and comic situations, offering a heartwarming charm. It has a few comedic touches sprinkled throughout, but unfortunately, the humor often comes across as forced and lacks natural flow. While the series may not seem or stand out as a masterpiece, the actors have tried their best; but I think due to the low quality production, they were not able to give their whole. I enjoyed Shun and Chodan’s chemistry in the last episode, and the side characters were okay too, including the cat. Overall, the series isn’t exceptional, but it’s worth a one-time watch.

While I was watching the show, I was shocked to know that this is based on a book written by Patrick Rangsimant, an author I admire and I love reading his books. I think with better production, the series could have been a lot better, but for a simple, cute, and adventurous ride full of food and evil plans to destroy Earth, that kept getting pushed because of good food, it certainly can be watched once.
