The Boys’ Love & Girls’ Love industry are fast growing into economic phenomena, considering their reach and global outburst. The only difference between the rest of the Asian subcontinent and Thailand, is the recurring concept of BL/GL pairings. While the rest of the countries don’t focus on continuing the same pairings, Thailand’s soft power is quickly becoming taciturn because of their investments in long-standing couplings. We are here to take a glimpse at some of the most important couples in the Thai industry!

Off Jumpol & Gun Atthaphan

The veterans of the BL industry have been together since 2016 when they were first featured together in “Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey”. That’s a whopping nine years in making. They started as a shy couple who were trying to grow roots in Thai Entertainment a d have slowly grown to become one of the most formidable couples in the industry. Their chemistry was further cemented by their wholesome camaraderie in the 2019 sleeper hit “Theory of Love”. It was their first major project as solo leads and their fiery chemistry was much appreciated. Next, they became queer icons after portraying the dynamic roles of Sean & White in the 2021 masterpiece “Not Me”. Their nuanced performances gave a killer edge to the show and the ratings skyrocketed. They further cemented their fanbase by starring in romcoms like “Cooking Crush” and “The Trainee” proving that they could do comic roles as well as serious ones. OffGun are one of the most prolific couples in the BL industry and rightly so!

Tay Tawan & New Thitipoom

TayNew were first introduced as the popular characters Pete & Kao in the 2016 hit “Kiss”. Their roles were elevated to main lead status with the sequel “Kiss Me Again”. Pete & Kao became instant hit and their relationship was further explored in recurring sequels “Our Skyy (2018)” and the 2019 hit “Dark Blue Kiss”. The show became a huge success and established TayNew’s fandom. Tay & New didn’t have any follow-up projects as a pairing until they reunited for the 2023 remake “Cherry Magic”. They simply breezed through their performances of Japanese characters that were hugely popular. Tay & New portrayed those characters in their own signature manner, that was unexpectedly suave. They returned for a playful banter in the 2024 bromance “Peaceful Property”; despite having no kissing scenes, their chemistry outshone everything else. One of the most intriguing pairings in the BL industry, they are fun & entertaining!

Pond Naravit & Phuwin Tangsakyuen

Introduced as a rookie pairing in the 2021 adaptation “Fish Upon the Sky”, Pond and Phuwin quickly rose to fame because of their refreshing chemistry. Even though the show failed to make much noise, it established their fandom. Adaptations became their very purpose, and they were paired in their next project “Never Let Me Go”, being able their roles in “Our Skyy 2”. If you are featured in “Our Skyy”, it means you have arrived. Keeping in tune with their growing popularity and fan base, Pond & Phuwin were featured as the one of the main pairings in the ensemble romance “We Are”. Our favorite couple have a fiery chemistry and their increasingly budding camaraderie makes them the perfect choice for BL dramas.

Joong Archen & Dunk Natachai

After making his name in the 2019 hit “2moons2”, Joong joined the GMMTV camp in 2021. It wasn’t until 2022 that he was officially paired opposite rookie actor, Dunk Natachai that he got to return to the BL arena again. Starring in the adaptation “Star and Sky: Star in My Mind” portrayed a intriguing chemistry. They reprised their roles in “Our Skyy 2” establishing their new fandom which rapidly grew day by day. They became GMMTV regulars who gave recurring hits every year. Next they were paired in the “Hidden Agenda”, their chemistry increased ten fold and their camaraderie betrayed their offscreen closeness. Following up, GMMTV decided to pair them with another hit couple, First Kanaphan & Khaotung Thanawat in “The Heart Killers”. The show premiered to high expectations and was able to maintain a steady rating throughout its run. JoongDunk are currently one of the most celebrated couples in the BL industry and rightly so!

Singto Prachaya & Krist Perawat

Another iconic couple who have made their presence known through decades of friendship and a very short-lived breakup. Currently, starring in the on-air office romance “The Ex- Morning”, Singto- Krist are back with a bang and rightly so. First paired in the 2016 classic “SOTUS”, an era where BL production weren’t rampant, the actors established a loyal fanbase with their formidable acting talents. They were celebrated which lead to a sequel in the next year. Singto & Krist reprised their roles in the 2018 mini series “Our Skyy”. Following the success of Sotus, they were featured in quite a few shows but nothing substantial panned out. With Singto’s uncharacteristic exit from GMMTV in 2021, the pairing broke and Krist was briefly paired with Gawin Caskey in 2023 adaptation “Be My Favorite”. Even though they were good, avid fans missed the “SingtoKrist” magic. Their prayers were heard when Singto returned to GMMTV in 2024 and was promptly paired opposite Krist again. This pairing literally have a fairy tale deliverance!

Force Jiratchapong & Book Kasidet

Another celebrated couple from the GMMTV campus, Force and Book have decades of friendship to fall back on. As school friends they have known each other forever. So, things weren’t complicated when GMMTV decided to pitch these rookie actors in the 2022 romance “Enchanté”. The show wasn’t received positively but ForceBook managed to leave a deep impression in everyone’s minds. They quickly established their fan base by playing the main leads in the 2022 romcom “A Boss and a Babe”. Comedy became their forte and fans began used to their playful banter, especially Book who has a classic sense of humor. They decided to shake the status quo by portraying highly sensual characters in the 2023 hit “Only Friends” which became a global sensation. After shocking everyone with their sexual exploits, ForceBook returned to the candor by playing endearing characters in the 2024 ensemble adaptation “Perfect 10 Liners”.

Mos Panuwat & Bank Mondop

Mos was introduced to the BL world in the 2022 adaptation “Big Dragon” opposite his onscreen (rumored real life) partner Bank Mondop. The show broke records solely based on their sensual chemistry, skyrocketing their popularity. They next appeared in the 2024 romance “Sunset x Vibes”. Even though the show didn’t create much buzz, MosBank’s fame remains untouched. They are one of the most popular couples in the Thai industry, having graced the covers of popular entertainment magazines. They sparingly sign new projects but whenever they do, it becomes the most talked subject ever. MosBank are buzzworthy and that remains their biggest strength!

Zee Pruk & NuNew Chawarin

Possibly the most eminent couple in the current circles, Zee & NuNew were first paired together in the 2022 adaptation “Cutie Pie”. The subject matter was entirely new and so was there pairing. Many speculated about their chemistry and ZeeNunew replied with demonstrating a sensuous tension that was out of the charts. With each episode, their popularity and fame grew, quickly raising their star status. Zee & NuNew were next paired in the horror romance “After Sundown”. Remaining true to their refreshing camaraderie, they rewrote history. And they continue to do so, with their currently on-air regal romance “The Next Prince”. Thai industry has never witnessed a big budget show like this before, everything from the settings to costumes that speaks of grandeur and exuberance. But the most reckoning factor is Zee’s somber portrayal of a calm bodyguard opposite NuNew’s depiction of a sassy Prince in making. We are yet to witness a pairing or a story like this!
