Adapted from the novel “Nai Hia Bok Mai Chop Dek” (ไหนเฮียบอกไม่ชอบเด็ก) by MissPa_Ob (นางสาวผอบ), “My Stubborn” had a clear directive & motion. It was NOT to repeat M Flow Entertainment’s past mistakes. Most shows from the said agency have poor production value & highly enthusiastic sex scenes. But sex can only sell so far; doesn’t mean “My Stubborn” doesn’t delve on it. Almost 80% of the narrative includes unhindered & unapologetic sex scenes between the main leads. I’m yet to find an episode where they weren’t kissing or having a full-blown sex session. Sex plays an important role in most M Flow Entertainment’s dramas. And yet, “My Stubborn” was far better than the precedents set by the company with their prior productions. The high ratings could very well be attributed to the high class chemistry between the main leads, Boat Yongyut & Oat Pasakorn.
The Very Horny, Very Sexy Main Couple

It seems actor Boat was met with just one directive from the crew of this show (mainly the director) and that was- “You need to kiss like you want to consume Oat and that’s exactly what he did for twelve episodes”. The high energy didn’t dim even for a second when their characters were alone. What started as a messy “Brothers with Benefits” relationship morphs into something more when Jun (Oat Pasakorn) starts falling for his elder brother’s best friend, Sorn (Boat Yongyut). Sorn isn’t exactly boyfriend material, his mood swings are epic, he is extremely horny and has an on-off relationship with his office colleague, Penny. Sorn spends a lot of time being confused about his affections for Jun. But once he decides that Jun belongs to him, he is steadfast in his approach. This relationship has loads of ups and downs. Sorn tallies anything and everything with sex, so he isn’t exactly adept at understanding the nuances of a healthy relationship. But somehow they make it to the end (I’m still amazed and amused by their romance). Boat & Oat have a phenomenal chemistry. I have never seen a hotter couple before!
Kissing Chemistry- 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 ( Through the Roof)
I Don’t Know Where They Went Wrong!

While the main pairing were breaking the heat index, the secondary couple, Tai (Yoon Phusanu) & Champ (Punpun Punn) were undecided and confused. They are childhood friends, live in each other’s pockets, obviously have strong feelings for each other and yet, they won’t commit. So, we spend almost 10 episodes watching them dance around each other with no clear resolution. I failed to understand what the hiccup was. Why Tai failed to define their relationship even though he is insanely over protective about Champ. Their scenes dragged on and were unimpressive. Also, the actors failed to make a mark with their abysmal chemistry. They had difficulty maintaining the tempo throughout the kissing scenes. Either they didn’t develop a camaraderie during workshops or they weren’t comfortable kissing (except for the finale episode, where they actually manage to have a full-blown sex session).
Kissing Chemistry- 🔥 (Not Upto The Mark)
Atleast The GL Couple Were Better

So, I wasn’t exactly impressed with the GL couple after watching the initial episodes. While Penny (Michelle Behrmann) was in a discreet “Friends with Benefits” relationship with Sorn, June (Poy Cherlyn) spend most of her time pinning after Penny. It wasn’t until Sorn started getting serious about Jun & ditched Penny, that June gets a chance to make her move. And their relationship blooms. Penny has never had a serious relationship before but June slowly reins her in and their romance is sweet as well as endearing. The actresses have an amicable chemistry and the love their characters have for each other shines through in their scenes. I loved watching them together!

Final Impressions

If you are looking for a sex romp, there are a lot of shows in the market!
M Flow Entertainment isn’t exactly known for producing good quality narratives. But “My Stubborn” was different. The show had a well-defined script, good actors and a clear directive. The cast and crew knew what they were doing with the script and it significantly impacted the storytelling. It was unhinged, somewhat different and unique!
