Eight series ended this week, and we only have one new series beginning next week. I think we are finally getting some breathing room for a minute.
I enjoyed “The Proper Way to Write Love”, “Memoir of Rati”, and “The Promise of the Soul” enough to recommend them here. Each series had a unique premise and was easy to follow. I believe “The Proper Way to Write Love” had the best execution, but “Memoir of Rati” certainly follows close behind. Anyway, they would make a fun binge session for a weekend where you just need to relax.
I’m so excited. Next weekend, I will be in LA to meet KristSingto and EarthMix. Both are major acting duos from GMMTV in Thailand, and I have loved all the work they have been in.
Also, don’t forget my BL Week in Review Live on Tuesdays at 6 PM PST. Let’s chat about all of these series that ended, as well as our favorite moments from the week.
Now, on to the week in review.
Sunday, August 31
My Magic Prophecy Episode 6 (Thai BL on YouTube)
1. I’m drunk on love.
2. Why am I crying again?
3. I believe that they’re soulmates. Their subtle talking with body language and their look of unspoken connection in this series is crazy.
4. Beautiful OST today.
The Proper Way to Write Love Episode 8 ✴️FINALE (Japanese BL on Gagaoolala)
My Rating – 8/10
1. Hiro’s low self-esteem and Natsuo’s lack of boundaries were a toxic combo that somehow worked.
2. I’m glad they didn’t follow stereotypes.
3. Binge it when you need some light entertainment with depth.

3. It’s a bit more intriguing now.
Situationship in the City Episode 2 ✴️FINALE (Vietnam BL on YouTube)
1. This series had a weird premise that was sometimes challenging to follow.

I’m the Most Beautiful Count Episode 6 (Thai BL on IQIYI)
1. Prince has a good point. Even if she were to transport forward in time, nothing would have changed.
2. I like how she’s putting her showmanship to use to get more followers. A little magic goes a long way
10 Things I Want To Do Before I Turn 40 Episode 10 (Japanese BL on Gagaoolala)
1. Suzume is in such a pit of despair.
2. Then, of course, they had to show the contrast of the seemingly happy family with the kids and the white picket fence just to rub it in.
3. I don’t feel at all sorry for Keishi. He was a foolish nincompoop.
Memoir of Rati Episode 12 ✴️FINALE (Thai BL on YouTube)

🏹Hunter
1. The explanation for Punn’s apathy is clear. He is a hunter, and it seems as though he’s somehow special.
2. Also, what’s his fascination with the necklaces?
3. I’m excited to see Ramil with all his powers. Who wants to see him turn into a bird?
Shine Episode 6 (Thai BL on WeTV/Tencent)
Do you hear the people sing?
1. If the people don’t speak, no one will hear them. Power to the people.
2. Apo’s acting was outstanding, especially from the time he entered the protest until the end.
3. Krailert and Naran’s scene was powerful.
Khemjira Episode 5 (Thai BL on IQIYI)
Team Building
1. I like that they are developing a solid ghostbusting group.
2. It makes sense that Khem can’t be a disciple. If he were, Peem would never be able to look at him any other way. 🫠
3. I love Keng’s acting.
Awaiting Dawn Episode 1 ✴️PREMIERE (Vietnamese BL on YouTube)
The only way to go is up
1. The premise is pretty straightforward. The main character is set up to be down on his luck.
2. The acting and cinematography are both easy to watch.
3. I can appreciate that the main character is flawed.
4. Let’s see where this goes. I will watch another episode.

Set to release next week is the Monomax original Mandate. It is a political intrigue drama that looks fun, but the only problem is that it’s only available on Monomax. They do say they will be providing English subtitles for international viewers, but it seems it won’t be on one of our standard platforms, which means signing up for theirs. If it’s a drama that sounds interesting to you, here is a link to the platform: Link to Monomax
