There is a sense of déjà vu in everything that happens in this show!!
It may be because the show is a remake of a Thai original. The Japanese BL industry is currently involved in the serious business of remaking Thai originals these days, most of which are adaptations from Me Mind Y campus. After starring in the last remake, “Love in the Air”, heartthrobs Nagumo Shoma & Hamaya Takuto are playing star-crossed lovers in their second project “The Boy Next World: My Destiny.” Adapted from the novel “The Boy Next World” by Mame, the Thai original stars Boss Chaikamon & Noeul Nuttarat in lead roles. After embodying their characters in “Love in the Air”, Shoma & Takuto will be manifesting their “The Boy Next World” roles as well. It is hard to maintain originality when you are starring in a remake. Slipping into roles depicted by other actors isn’t an easy task. But Shoma & Takuto breeze through their performance even when the subject matter is difficult!
Synopsis–
The ordinary daily life of Yotsuba Fu, a college student with zero romantic experience, is suddenly turned upside down one day. The senior admired by everyone on campus, Kogami Sara, abruptly tells him that he is someone who came from a parallel world, and that “we are lovers”, declaring it unilaterally.
Confused by this sudden confession from Sara, with whom he has never even exchanged words before, Fu nevertheless finds himself gradually drawn to him. However, he soon begins to suffer from the inner conflict that he himself is not the Fu whom Sara loved in that parallel world. At the same time, Sara is also carrying a major secret of his own…
Guided together by the threads of fate, what path of love will the two ultimately choose?

Fall in Love With Sara & Fu

As against his mannerism in “Love in the Air”, Nagumo Shoma takes on the role of Kogami Sara. The show doesn’t mince words and instantly throws us into chaos. He steps into the world of a person who is supposedly from a parallel world. Hamaya Takuto plays the role of Fu Yotsuba, a slightly clumsy yet ordinary college student with zero love experience. He is superstitious enough to believe that if he doesn’t wear underwear based on lucky colors, then his day will be undone. His world is turned upside down when the college hotshot Sara suddenly appears at his doorstep injured abruptly, declaring his love for him. When Fu fails to recognize, Sara declares he is from a parallel world and that they are in a relationship. His overtures are ridiculously unbelievable, so Sara sets out to woo Fu again. Of course, Fu is surprised beyond his imagination when the senior admired by everyone on campus suddenly showers him with love and affection. Shoma steps into his role with candor and outright confidence. His swag and style are unmistakable as Sara’s, even when he is injured. Takuto as Fu is sweet, naive and awestruck. Their combination never fails!
Is it a Worthwhile Watch

You need to forget about BossNoeul, if you want to fully immerse yourself in this experience!
It is slightly disconcerting to do so; if you have watched the original, comparisons are inevitable. Supporting couple, Jin (Uemura Souta) and Taiga (Nakayama Shingo) make a short appearance as their characters are introduced, but we don’t get to see them interact. Like I mentioned, if you know certain aspects of the storyline, the anticipation for those scenes is unavoidable. For now, just cruise through the pilot episodes and enjoy the romance!
