So, it was all a lie, there is no such thing as a parallel universe or does it even exist??
Having watched the original quite a long time ago, I didn’t remember the specifics of this storyline. So, throughout this remake, I kept wondering if our main lead really did transmigrate from a parallel universe. And the finale episode finally resolved my doubts. Of course, the Japanese remake falls short when compared to the scale or production value of the Thai original. But it has it’s own merits & demerits. If you are simply looking for a show to catch up on the weekends, then this one will tide you over. If you are an ardent fan of the main couple and wants to peruse their electrifying chemistry, then you shouldn’t mind its remake status. But if you are looking for something new & intriguing, then this show will definitely fall short of your expectations.
The Storyline & Chemistry

Yotsuba Fu (Hamaya Takuto) is an ordinary college student who is heavily superstitious & zero romantic experience. His world is turned upside down when the hottest senior in the campus, Kogami Sara (Nagumo Shoma) suddenly turns up at his doorstep and declares that he is from a parallel world and that they are lovers. Sara was gravely injured and wakes up saying that Fuu is his boyfriend. Sara knows everything about Fuu, his mannerisms and his habits. Fuu slowly starts believing that Sara is truly from a parallel world and he might have been in a relationship with the “Fuu” from that world. He decides that he would help Sara return to his original world. In the meanwhile, Sara takes care of him and Fuu eventually falls for him. Sara’s mother Kogami Rana (Yokoyama Megumi) loves to keep him under her tight control. She tries to sabotage their relationship by instigating Sara’s so-called fiancee, Karen (Fujizono Rei). Things take an interesting turn when Fuu discovers that Sara has been following him since their high school days. Takuto & Shoma have an interesting chemistry, but it somehow pales in comparison to that of Boss Chaikamon & Noeul Nuttarat who starred in the original.
Final Impressions

Sadly, I was more invested in the secondary couple than the lead ones!!
Uemura Souta & Nakayama Shugo take over the roles embodied by Forth Kashane & Donut Suppawit in the original. Souta & Shugo lack Forth & Donut’s fiery chemistry but their romance is solemn and interesting. Remakes are already at a disadvantage because we have watched the original. They are only entertaining if the lead pairing spark any originality. Unfortunately, it doesn’t happen here!
