A historical thriller that subtly spells a bromance!!
In this age, where Chinese censorship is wrecking havoc, it seems unlikely that a bromance might get a sequel. And yet, “The Leopard Cat Scholar” managed to do the impossible. The story draws inspiration from supernatural suspense to weave a lovely show of brotherhood and friendship. Starring Wang Yi Zhou & Xie Xin Hao, the story focuses on their teamwork as they investigate a murder mystery that invokes sorcery & academic deceit!
The Storyline & Chemistry

Academy students Tao Sheng (Xie Xin Hao) and Wang Sheng (Wang Yi Zhou) are close friends. Unfortunately, Wang Sheng dies mysteriously, and his body is possessed by a mythical cat demon. At the same time, their academy is plagued by mysterious deaths that seem to be interconnected. Tao Sheng is inquisitive by nature and tends to overthink everything. As his curiosity draws him to dangerous situations, the cat demon impersonates Wang Sheng and helps Tao Sheng to investigate the murder mystery. In the end, the cat demon sacrifices himself to save Wang Sheng. Sadly, until the end, Tao Sheng doesn’t realize that his friend was actually dead, and it was the cat demon who saved his life. Xie Xin Hao & Wang Yi Zhou have formidable chemistry. The cat demon is extremely protective of Tao Sheng and their camaraderie is striking.
Final Impressions

This show isn’t exactly exceptional in its execution, but the main leads have a surreal chemistry!!
The editing is chopping, the production value isn’t that great. But the storytelling is bearable. The murder mystery keeps you invested, and the main leads have a refreshing chemistry. It was one of the main reasons for this show’s popularity despite the abysmal output. But it is worth your time, if you are a fan of Chinese Bromances!
