“MuTeLuv” is a unique effort by GMMTV to script an anthology that describes stories of people who attempt to use supernatural forces to meet their goals, and their unique journeys to finding love along the way. The anthology includes a total of seven stories out of which three are queer romances. We awaited the end of the last story to conclude this series!
MuTeLuv: “Hi” by My Luck
Inspired by “Mo Du Thak Khrap” (หมอดูทักครับ) by Molekule, the show stars Sea Dechchart & Keen Suvijak as main leads. Academic overachiever Er (Keen) meets his match when Mawin (Sea) joins his class. Er was the top student until Mawin joined their class. When the two are sent away to take an exam that could qualify them for a scholarship abroad, Er’s confidence is further shaken. In an attempt to control his fate, he contacts an anonymous fortune-teller who makes strange demands of him. As Er shares a room with Mawin, the fortune-teller forces him to do everything to make the icy Mawin like him. As Er pursues him to appease the fortune-teller, they slowly grow closer & fall for each other. Things take on an interesting turn when it is revealed that Mawin is the so-called fortune-teller. He is lonely at school and as such, masquerades as the fortune-teller to seek friends. Sea & Keen have an amusing chemistry. They are always entertaining, least to say!
MuTeLuv: Diva Deva Mata
This was my favorite series in this anthology. “Air Dolls” Nevia (Fluke Nattanon), Ingky (Lego Rapeepong), Fews (Soodyacht Patsit), and Katrina (Neo Trai) are a fierce group of high school influencer divas. However, their channel’s follower count isn’t budging, so they turn to Goddess Dalop, known for her power to elevate influencers, for help. It works, and their follower count grows exponentially. However, Katrina offends the Goddess and ends up possessed. Nivea, Inky, and Fuse must find a way to drive the spirit out of her body. In the midst of all this turmoil, Med-tubtim, Goddess Dalop’s priestess, tries to help her gain permanent control over Katrina’s body. As Nivea, Inky and Fuse try to drive the spirit out of Katrina’s body, they end up fighting each other. As they come to terms with their shortcomings, their friendship is tested again & again. “Diva Deva Mata” was a fun watch. Fluke, Lego, Yacht and Neo embody their characters too well- the snappy attitude, the girlish charms, their impersonation is perfect.
MuTeLuv: Love Me if You Swear
This was another favorite, because I did not expect that a new pairing like JavaSurf to be so ingenious. You might have recently noticed them in “Head 2 Head” where they played the secondary couple. After Tum (Surf Patchara) gains leadership of Nuea-in gang through a superstitious vow, he experiences horrible luck. Nuea-in gang has always been at odds with the Pathumphaisan gang. When Oh (Java Bhobdhama), the leader of Pathumphaisan gang, steals his gang’s badge, Nuea-in’s members begin to question whether Tum deserves his new position. Realising it all stems from not fulfilling his vow, he soon sets out on a nine-temple merit-making journey. Surprisingly, Oh is also on the same mission, and they find themselves forced to cooperate. As they travel together, Tum & Oh learn more about each other; they have their own fears and insecurities to tackle. Being in close quarters makes them question their feelings for each other. Surf & Java have a refreshing chemistry. This was their first time leading a project and they proved their worth. It’s high time SurfJave were given individual projects, so they could shine!!
Here’s hoping that “MuTeLuv” continues to bring us such gems in the future too!!
