8 Spicy Thai BLs That Are Actually Good

Disclaimer: This article is intended for readers aged 18 and over.

Thailand isn’t lacking in BL series with NC scenes. But finding a show with a good plot and mature content can be a bit tricky. So if you like your smut to come with a good story, here are 8 recommendations to get you started.

Note: To create this list, I looked for shows I’ve personally watched that have a rating of 8 / 10 or higher on MyDramaList.

KinnPorsche The Series

Premise: After saving a mafia man’s life, Porsche gets recruited to be his bodyguard. His job is unforgiving, even as love blooms.

A high-stakes BL where the plot actually makes sense! This show was a sensation for a reason. The chemistry is off the charts and the action sequences are a lot of fun. There are secrets to uncover, spies to root out, and a love to be saved.

MyDramaList Rating: 8 / 10

Only Friends

Premise: A group of students find that life gets messy when the lines between friendship, sex, and love are blurred.

It’s a steamy show where no villain is irredeemable and no hero is a saint. I honestly didn’t think I’d finish this but it was too compelling to stop watching. I honestly would watch it again, hot mess and all.

MyDramaList Rating: 8 / 10

The Sign

Premise: A young man with premonitions keeps seeing his fellow trainee in his fantastical visions.

A fun supernatural action romance. When you’re constantly dreaming of another man, it’s natural to fall for the guy. This romance layers in crime and investigation, while a love story across lifetimes also unfolds.

MyDramaList Rating: 8 / 10

Wandee Goodday

Premise: A one-night stand turns into “boyfriends” with benefits for a doctor and a fighter. Feelings spark in their fake relationship.

I was truly surprised to enjoy this so much. A steamy, green-flag romance that doesn’t rely on toxic tropes. It was easy to root for these good-natured characters. Bonus points for representing asexuality and sex positivity.

MyDramaList Rating: 8.0 / 10

The Heart Killers

Premise: A man agrees to investigate suspected murderers in exchange for a clean record. He recruits a friend to help and boundaries quickly blur.

I loved the old-school vibe of this “spy falls in love with his target” story. Despite sometimes strange pacing, I liked this a lot and was eager for new episodes. The chemistry is incredible. I saw the twist coming, but it didn’t ruin it for me.

MyDramaList Rating: 8.1 / 10

Love in the Air

Premise: Rain and Sky are best friends at university. They encounter a pair of seniors who pursue the younger men.

It’s a steamy romance that plays with power dynamics. There’s also an underground racing scene, high-stakes moments, and a canonically bisexual character. I enjoy this more than I should, probably.

Note: The second couple’s story plays out in the last 4 episodes. It’s a bit jarring if you’re not prepared for it.

MyDramaList Rating: 8.1 / 10

Burnout Syndrome

Premise: A burned out artist meets his ideal type but then discovers they’re working for the same anti-social boss. He gets caught between the two of them.

This is a sensual series that invites you to confront the impact of artificial intelligence and what it means to live as an artist. It’s beautiful, moody, and compelling. I’m not a huge fan of love triangles, but I could not look away.

MyDramaList Rating: 8.3 / 10

Shine

Premise: An economist returns to Thailand where he meets a free-wheeling musician. He faces impossible choices amid political turmoil in 1969.

Shine is mature—in every sense of the word. The leads navigate their sexual identities during a time where being queer isn’t safe. I loved the complexity of the characters, the depth of the story, and the beauty of the production (a must watch for retro music lovers).

MyDramaList Rating: 8.4 / 10
