I'm a Researcher by profession, prone to questioning everything. Living in Mumbai, I grew up on a stable diet of monotonous Indian dramas which stretch for a decade or so and I sincerely wanted to elude the boredom. So I escaped into the unknown, which is the world of BL dramas. I love sharing my thoughts about the storyline, characters and analyzing the smallest details possible. When something touches my heart, I want to know what others feel about the subject matter as well. That’s why, I’m here at BL Xpress. Being a writer gives me an outlet to explore my inner emotions and turmoil

Upcoming “Girls’ Love” Dramas/Movies

Gone are the days when Girls’ Love dramas were low on viewership and ratings. The unprecedented success of Thai GL “Gap The Series” has heralded a new era where GL content is on the verge of evolving. The main leads Freen Sarocha & Rebecca Armstrong became household names and they are still trending. “Show Me Love” starring beauty queens Engfa Waraha & Charlotte Austin was another lucid attempt to diversify the popularity of this genre. Currently on-air Thai GL’s “Love Senior” and “Lucky My Love” are fervently trying to capitalize on this notion; whether they win or lose, only time will tell. In the meantime, let’s sit down and talk about the upcoming dramas/movies that will definitely grab your attention!

“Nuovo Olimpo” Movie Review

Set in the picturesque locales of Rome, Netflix’s latest Italian romance “Nuovo Olimpo” is a nostalgic reminiscence of lost love and endurance. Directed by Turkish-Italian film director and screenwriter, Ferzan Özpetek, the film leaves a lot to speculations and random “What if’s”. Maybe it is because the film’s trajectory was designed to showcase a cinematic experience shadowing the lives of two closeted men in 1970s. The rustic cinematography does bring back fond memories of old cinema, but the nostalgia ends once the main leads are separated. If you have watched “Your Name Engraved Herein”, then “Nuovo Olimpo” might strike a jarring resemblance to the Taiwanese classic. Ferzan Özpetek does his level best to depict a gay romance in difficult times and the message does resonate with the current times as well. Homophobia is still prevalent and existent, so the deliverance isn’t lost. And yet, something is missing. Join us as we talk about this movie in depth!

Why The Queers Seemed Lost in Elite 7

There was a time when the Spanish teenage hit “Elite” signified mystery and murder mayhem; Las Enchinas has always been the breeding ground for ornate romance or well orchestrated crimes scenes. While the first five seasons reigned on the basis of this concept, the quality began to decline when the series entered its fifth season. Forgoing logic, new characters were added for atypical drama and illogical conclusions. Despite this, the show still managed to survive (makes you question Netflix’s inability to distinguish between good and bad dramas; considering the steady number of LGBTQ dramas that they have axed). And yet, Elite has managed the impossible; they keep missing the axe. Is it because the show has a consistent fandom who are ready to devour the baseless storyline as long as they get melodrama? The current season remains true to this premise; we have old and new characters; some delusional, others opportunistic. We are here to talk about the queer characters, so let’s just train our lens on them (there is nothing to discuss this show anyways).
