Fall Under the Spell of Cherry Magic

There’s something magical about Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! (30-sai made Doutei dato Mahoutsukai ni Nareru Rashii, 30歳まで童貞だと魔法使いになれるらしい). I first fell in love with the live-action series starring Eiji Akaso and Keita Machida as the adorable Adachi and handsome Kurosawa when it was first released for international viewing on the streaming platform Crunchyroll (though you can order the Blu-ray wherever Japanese music and movies are sold, including CDJAPAN). It was such an adorable and innocently sweet story that I couldn’t help but fall in love with it.

Sypnosis: Having never had sex in his life, after Kiyoshi Adachi reaches his 30th birthday he becomes a “wizard”: he develops an ability to hear the thoughts of other people by touching them. One day, he discovers that his popular co-worker, Yuichi Kurosawa, is in love with him. While dealing with the awkwardness of being able to hear Kurosawa’s rather forthright feelings towards him, Adachi comes to terms with how much Kurosawa values him and starts to develop reciprocal feelings of his own.
