It has been a slow curve for GL productions, but the massive hit “Gap The Series” has suddenly turned the wheel of fortune. Starting from Thailand, the revolution is now spreading to Japanese shores, with avid producers banking on the sudden popularity of this genre.

“Mr. Nice Guy & The Lonely Man” Movie Review
Sometimes a title to a movie is so spot-on that nothing more needs to be said about it. The summation is expressed, quite literally, in this title. It is a story about a very lonely young man who by chance meets a very nice man and love is awakened. Not only is a love awakened but a reckoning and a realization of oneself is as well. You get all of that in just over 30 minutes of pure cinematic magic in this beautiful love sonnet that reads more like poetry than prose.

“Fellow Travelers” Series Review (Ep.3 to 8)
“Fellow Travelers” takes us on a journey through the lives of Hawkins Fuller (Matt Bomer), a closeted gay man working for the State Department, Tim Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey), who meets Hawkins during his stint working at the State Department where the two fall in love during the McCarthy administration. Marcus Hooks (Jelani Alladin) and Frankie (Noah Ricketts) a couple of black queer men also find themselves in each other’s orbit and fall in love despite their differences and the need for self-preservation in a time of racism as homophobia puts a wedge in all relationships.

2023 was a phenomenal year for BL productions. With the pandemic panic finally receding and restrictions being uplifted, the BL industry was very busy churning out massive hits. Artistic freedom is evolving and so are the BL actors. This year we saw some rookie actors joining the ranks and against our better judgement, they proved their worth. So, we weren’t surprised with this year’s results where the fans voted in full swing for the actors who deserved this title!

“The Memories” Series Review (Ep.1 to 4)
Remarkable. This was the first word that came to me in how to describe this distinctive series from Cambodia, a country ostensibly not known for its BLs. But this word seems woefully inadequate, I am afraid. Maybe words are unwarranted here; perhaps only feelings are fitting. And my feelings are profound sadness, heartache, and a sense of betrayal. Yet, what still remains is just the meager shred of strength fed by the faintest spark of love.
