IQIYI made a splash on the social circuit this week; with the grand announcement of its upcoming Boy’s Love dramas for 2022.

Working in an exclusive collaboration with Studio Wabi Sabi and Be On Cloud; the popular streaming portal will be bringing us, some of the most anticipated BL shows ever. Under the banner of “Next Wabi”, Studio Wabi Sabi are co-producing- Dear Doctor Series, My Only 12% with IQIYI and Between Us The Series with We TV. We still don’t have any updates about the international release of Absolute Zero Series. The reductant crime thriller KinnPorsche The Series which faced financial constraints, has been revamped along with a brand-new casting. Without further ado, let’s review the available information relative to these eagerly awaited shows!

Dear Doctor The Series

“Dear Doctor I’m Coming For Soul” was initially being produced by AB Group Music until 2020. But the project never materialized (most probably because of financial issues) and then in 2021, Studio Wabi Sabi announced that they have obtained exclusive rights for this show. Renamed as “Dear Doctor Series”, the show now features the erstwhile popular “Grey Rainbow” couple Nut Nutchapon and Karn Kasidej in leading roles. Adapted from a novel, the show focuses on the romance between a hardworking Doctor, who is hellbent on saving his patients and a Grim Reaper. The supporting cast includes Cookkai Pavadee, Yacht Patsit, Tae Weerapat Toemmaneerat and Pat Chatburirak.

Synopsis-

Dr. Prakam is a well-known surgeon dedicated to saving people’s lives. However, while he is trying to save lives he is constantly visited by the last person he could ever want to see. Death will show up every day trying to take the souls of the people that the doctor is trying to save. They work for completely opposing sides. One must collect the souls of the dead, the other must save lives before they reach that state. Is it possible to fall in love with the one thing you try to avoid, and how can the love story between death and a Doctor last?

My Only 12%

I was floored by the sublime chemistry between main leads Santa Pongsapak and Earth Katsamonnat in the recently on-air “7 Project” miniseries. As such, I’m totally looking forward to the premiere of this show. Santa & Earth certainly make an interesting combination and I have high hopes from the storyline as well. Based on the popular novel of the same name by author Afterday (author of currently on-air GMMTV BL Bad Buddy the Series), My Only 12% is based on the fictional probability of falling in love with your desired ones. We still don’t have official confirmation, but Santa will most be playing the role of Cake, while Earth will be cast as Seeiw.

Synopsis-

12% is the probability that the person we love, loves us back.

Cake and Seeiw are neighbors and childhood friends, with totally opposite personalities. Seeiw is more reserved and prefers interacting with his own family or Cake’s. Seeiw never though that his inability to speak well or having few friends would be a problem in his life. He always believed that even if the whole world didn’t see him; everything would be fine, as long as he had Cake beside him. But fate had other plans for Seeiw and it pushed Cake away from him. Reminiscing about the old days when they would talk every night until they fell asleep, Seeiw suddenly realizes that Cake’s social circle is growing. As such, the safe zone that once solely belonged to Seeiw, would very soon turn into a public space. And that’s no different from having the whole world collapsing right in front of Seeiw.

Between Us The Series

The most anticipated BL of 2022, fans of UWMA universe had been eagerly awaiting news related to the release and premiere of this drama. While Win and Team were relegated to the supporting role status in the author Lazy Sheep’s first novel “The Red Thread”, Between Us is based on her next work “Hemp Rope”, which explores their blossoming relationship in detail. Although main leads Boun Noppanut and Prem Warut didn’t get enough screentime in the original, their poignant chemistry captured hearts across the globe and the demand for this sequel spiralled out of control. Die-hard fans of Boun Prem have finally realised their dreams, as the show has recently started shooting.

Synopsis-

A parallel story to Until We Meet Again (2019). Tells the story of how Win and Team get to know one another through the swim club and they eventually develop a relationship. Their relationship grows as Win helps Team deal with his childhood trauma and Team helps Win feel wanted.

Absolute Zero Series

This project was announced in 2020 with much fanfare and because of its Sci-fi elements, it created quite a buzz. But the speculations slowly died and now it has resurfaced with the Next Wabi launch. Adapted from a novel by author Salil, the storyline solely focuses on the intriguing concept of time-travel, which is used as a base to build the main protagonist’s relationship. Starring UWMA star Mix Wanut as Suan Soon and Tor Supakorn as Ong Saa, Absolute Zero will take our main leads on a journey of self-discovery, intimacy and retrospection. Teng Kanit and Toey Phuwanat will be playing the older versions of Suan Soon and Ong Saa.

Synopsis-

SuanSoon and Ongsa are boyfriends. Ongsa got into a serious accident because he was rushing back to celebrate Suansoon’s birthday with him. Suansoon blamed himself and prayed if he could get back to the past, he would not get together with Ongsa. Suansoon found himself in the past and warned Ongsa (high school age) about the future but Ongsa didn’t believe him and became boyfriends with Suansoon anyway. Ten years later, one day before the accident, Ongsa from the future came back to tell his younger self to not avoid the accident, because Suansoon will die if he does. Ongsa let the accident happen. He woke up again in the past where he met Suansoon for the first time. This time Ongsa decided to change the future and didn’t approach Suansoon.

KinnPorsche The Series

“The New KinnPorsche” is certainly bigger, better and on a much larger volume than the previous version. After taking over the control from Filmania Productions, Be On Cloud have streamlined the casting and made quite a few changes. Recently the new cast and director were introduced in a live event, where IQIYI officials revealed the details pertaining to this project.

Starring alongside main leads Mile Phakphum and Apo Nattawin, we have an interesting round up of supporting actors- Bible Wichapas, Build Jakapan, Tong Thanayut, Jeff Satur, Us Nititorn, Ole Thanakorn, Bas Chatshol, Job Yosatorn, Blue Burin, Pete Thongchua, Piya Wimouktayon, Thaweesak Alexander and Perth Nakhun. Helmed by popular Thai director, Khom Kongkiat Khomsiri, this crime thriller is surely going to be challenging and sinful!

Synopsis-

The second son of the Mafia, Kinn Anakinn, is assaulted by an enemy causing him to flee from them until he meets Porsche Pitchaya – a young student who was hired as a part-time waiter at an entertainment establishment. Porsche saw the scene in the entertainment establishment but didn’t pay much attention to it. But then… Kinn made an offer. If Porsche could save him from his enemies, he would pay a certain amount in return. Porsche, who has the best martial arts degree and is a national judo champion, decides to get involved and helps Kinn escape. Due to his striking combat skills, Kinn wants to hire Porsche to be his personal bodyguard. Porsche was opposed and rejected Kinn, who would do anything to get what he wanted. After being terrorised by Kinn’s enemies and Kinn, he had no choice but to agree. Porsche didn’t want to be a part of this dangerous world because he was afraid that that only person he loved, his brother Porché Pitchaya, would get hurt. Porsche accepts Kinns ridiculous agreements and moves in to live with him. There is still a mystery that Porsche has to face with some very unexpected events. Moreover, the intimacy with Kinn creates a turbulent feeling in their hearts that starts to shake and become love. That path will not be easy because of the many problems and many obstacles that will come to test their love – he must stand up to endure all the problems he faces.
