It’s been an exhausting week with BL announcements dropping left and right. We haven’t had a wink of sleep, because bringing you these updates is really important. Join us, as we wind down the road to check out the latest happenings in the BL world!

The Rebound

All This Entertainment has announced their next project in collaboration with Viu Thailand. Titled “The Rebound”, the show will star Nammon Krittanai (Work From Heart) and Frank Thanatsaran (Love Syndrome III). The Rebound will be directed by Golf Tanwarin (The Eclipse and 609 Bedtime Story). As yet, no further details have been revealed.

The Bartender The Series

Cambodian media house Kool Play have announced their next project after “My Croissant”. Titled “The Bartender The Series”, the show stars actors Thean, Mateen, Teddy & Oly in the lead actors. The story depicts a handsome bartender who attracts all of his patrons.

Jun And Jun

W-Story (Cherry Blossoms After Winter) have unveiled the official poster for their most anticipated project this year- “Jun And Jun”. An upcoming office romance, the show stars Ki Hyun Woo, Yang Jun Mo, Jo Chan Hyun, and Park Hyeong Seop in the lead roles. Written by Yoon Na Ra and directed by Kim Eun Hye, Jun And Jun is set to premiere on 20th July, 2023 and will have eight episodes. International platform unannounced.

Synopsis-

His childhood first love, Choi Jun, who disappeared without a word, returned as a hot general manager! An office rom-com about idol-turned-intern Lee Jun and Choi Jun, a heart-fluttering genius director.

Dear Dopamine

Jinloe Media (What The Duck and Hit Bite Love) have released the premiere pilot for their upcoming drama, “Dear Dopamine”. The show will be based on the novel of the same name by Mr. Pinta. The story describes the infatuation between Libra, a senior in the Faculty of Economics & Posh a bad boy whose goal it is to possess Libra’s heart.

Minato’s Laundromat S2

Popular Japanese manga adaptation “Minato’s Laundromat” is all set to return with its new season. The show stars Kusakawa Takuya and Nishigaki Sho as the lead couple who will be reprising their roles, Akira Minato and Shintaro Katsuki. Apart from them, actors Fukushi Seiji, Inaba Yu, Oku Tomoya and Toyoshima Hana will also be reprising their roles from Season One.

Based on Tsubaki Yuzu’s manga ‘Minato Shouji Coin Laundry’, the first season focuses on 30 years old, Minato who shifts to his hometown after inheriting a laundromat from his grandfather. There he coincidentally meets Shintaro, a high school student, and they quickly become friends. Things get exciting when Shin unexpectedly discovers that Minato is gay and starts pursuing him. The second season will probably give us a glimpse into Minato’s blossoming relationship with Shintaro, who is now a college student.

She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat Season Two

NHK announced that the live-action adaptation of Sakaomi Yuzaki’s GL romance ‘She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat’ (‘Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna’) is getting renewed for a second season. Starting actresses Manami Higa and Emi Nishino in the lead roles of Nomoto and Kasuga, the show follows the story of two single ladies who are neighbors. Nomoto is passionate about cooking while Kasuga enjoys eating. As they bond over their love for food, Nomoto eventually develops feelings for Kasuga. Directed by Yui Matsusaki and Niroyuki Nakata, with Yuri Yamada writing the script, “She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat” will become the first program on NHK’s “YoruDora” drama block to get a sequel. The upcoming sequel will run for 20 episodes and is expected to premiere in early 2024.

GMMTV announces recast for BL shows “Only Friends” and “Cooking Crush”

Due to unavoidable conflicts in their schedules, GMMTV has recast several actors in their upcoming dramas. As such, actress Piploy Kanyarat Ruangrung will be stepping down from her role in “Only Friends”, which will now be taken over by Lookjun Bhasidi Petchsutee.

Similarly, Mark Pakin Kuna-anuvit’s role in “Cooking Crush” has been given to rookie actor Aungpao Ochiris Suwanacheep.

Addressing his inability to join the cast of “Cooking Crush”, Mark explained in a tweet that he will be unable to take up the role since its shooting schedule was in conflict with his other upcoming dramas, “Last Twilight” and “Only Friends”.

Strongberry’s New Fantasy BL Romance

Strongberry finally announced the results for their voting polls. Story E, with a fantasy-romance plot, has won the polls with 58% of the total votes as against Story A, which got 42%. A total of 1,1142 people participated in the poll.

Story E will follow a protagonist who meets a dokkaebi (Korean goblin) and falls in love.

During the school break, Inho heads down to his grandmother’s house, expecting it to be empty. However, contrary to his assumption, the house has become a hideout for two individuals named Cheolsu and Gwangpal. Initially disliking them, Inho gradually comes to accept them once he discovers that Cheolsu and Gwangpal are ‘dokkaebi’ – supernatural beings bound to the house, unique to Korean folklore, often likened to goblins or trolls, who possess supernatural powers and inhabit everyday objects. As he grows close to Cheolsu, they start to share their everyday life. In addition, Inho befriends a local young man named Jaegwan, who helps him better understand the dokkaebi, Cheolsu, and Gwangpal. However, when Inho suddenly faces a health crisis, Cheolsu develops a strong desire to protect him. Being a dokkaebi that inhabits objects and can only move with Inho, Cheolsu dislikes his own limitations in protecting Inho. But with Gwangpal’s help, he learns about a way for a dokkaebi to become a human. Could this enable Cheolsu and Inho to establish a relationship as loving partners?

Weather Forecast Love

The upcoming Korean BL “Weather Forecast Love” is a collaboration between Why Not Media (Light On Me) and KENAZ (Blueming, The Director Who Buys Me Dinner). It is adapted from author Gwendolyn’s webtoon of the same name and will have eight episodes. Whilst filming has reportedly started, casting details are still under wraps.

Synopsis-

Dong-Uk is always sensitive and picky from being haunted by ghosts every night. However, he manages to sleep peacefully for the first time in his life, when he sleeps next to Dohyeon. They thought they were meant for one another and knew everything about each other, even though they didn’t talk much. Dong-Uk feels that their relationship is not working well and tries to hold on to Dohyeon, while Dohyeon is afraid to find out what’s about to come when the happy moments are gone. Just like the weather forecast, their love is so unpredictable.

Cooking Crush

After delivering the sleeper hit “Not Me Series”, popular BL couple Off Jumpol & Gun Atthaphan will be pairing together in their fourth project, Cooking Crush. Adapted from the novel “Love Course! เสื้อกาวน์รุกเสื้อกุ๊กรับ” by iJune4S, this show is a gourmet romance between an awry medical student, Ten (Off) and his cooking coach, Prem (Gun). This drama will also introduce the new pairing of Fire (Neo Trai Nimtawat) and Neo (Aungpao Ochiris). The show’s official account posted pictures of OffGun. Most possibly, the shooting will commence soon.

Synopsis-

Prem, Dynamite and Samsi run a not-so-popular restaurant. With heavy losses, the trio finds out about a cooking competition with a huge reward that could help their business. However, preparations go awry, and just when Prem has decided to back out when he meets Ten, a medical student under a heavy burden of stress. Ten approaches Prem to teach him cooking, and Prem uses this as a scam opportunity to make money. However, as the lessons go on, it isn’t just the food that’s hot, but also their faces as they slowly fall for each other.

Wuju Bakery

A collaboration between Be On Cloud and Korean based company Hanyang International, “Wuju Bakery” is described as a supernatural romantic comedy starring Jeff Satur and Barcode Tinnasit. South Korean actors Dion and Q will be joining as the supporting couple. Hanyang International is already collaborating with Thailand-based companies on projects such as Eccentric Romance, Love Is Like a Cat and Our Winter. Fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere of this show as the KinnPorsche couple are immensely popular and this is their second project together. Jeff, Barcode, Dion, and Q seem to have had their first script reading session recently. Most possibly, the show might premiere in the second half of 2023.

Synopsis-

A small bakery was re-established after all kinds of hardship in a small old town that holds precious memories with his parents before his long-awaited opening ceremony. A spaceship crash-landed, and the bakery was ruined… An alien and the handsome boss sat down in the bakery where a chaotic living together had begun. At the same time, the aliens who have been hiding in various parts of the city in search of them are revealed.

Be Mine SuperStar’s Official Poster

Preparations are in full swing for the premiere of JaFirst’s upcoming drama “Be Mine SuperStar”. Adapted from the novel “The Superstar and the Puppy on Set” (พี่พระเอกกับเด็กหมาในกอง) by Orpheus (ออเฟียส), the show stars popular BL couple Ja Phachara and First Chalongrat in lead roles. This show is their fifth project together (TharnType Season 2: 7 Years of Love, Close Friend, Don’t Say No, and Remember Me). Bite Me Series director David Bigander is helming this drama, and the show is set to premiere in July. Bosston Suphadach (UWMA) and Jo Kavinpat (My Roommate) will be playing the supporting couple.

Synopsis-

Third-year film student Punn gets an internship on the set of a drama. He’s come there to learn from professionals, but what lights his passion even more than the work is leading man Achi, beloved of the nation.

Ja Pachara Quits Triple Eight Entertainment

Triple Eight Entertainment made an announcement that their artist Ja Phachara has decided not to renew his contract with them. In lieu of the statement issued, Ja Pachara also tweeted expressing his gratitude to the staff at Triple Eight Entertainment.

Last Twilight Series

Vice Versa couple Jimmy Jitaraphol Potihiwok and Sea Tawinan’s new project “Last Twilight Series” had its first read through and fitting sessions recently. The show’s official account has been posting tweets about the progress and avid fans are really enthused about the premiere. Jimmy and Sea will be playing the roles of Mork and Day, whilst Namtan Tipnaree and Mark Pakin will be playing the characters Phojai and Night. Aof Noppharnach (He’s Coming to Me, Dark Blue Kiss, A Tale of Thousand Stars, Moonlight Chicken, Our Skyy & Our Skyy 2) will be directing this project.

Only Friends Series

GMMTV’S upcoming mature romance, Only Friends Series has started shooting. Starring Book Kasidet & Force Jiratchapong (Enchanté, A Boss and A Babe), Khaotung Thanawat Ratanakitpaisan & First Kanaphan Puitrakul (The Eclipse, Moonlight Chicken) as well as Neo Trai Nimtawat (Fish Upon The Sky, The Eclipse) and Mark Pakin (My School Prseident, The Warp Effect) in lead roles, the drama is being directed by Jojo Tichakorn (Never Let Me Go Series). The show’s official account has been actively posting updates from the shooting spot.

23.5

GMMTV’s first full-fledged GL romance 23.5 has its costume fitting session recently. Love Pattranite, who will be playing the role of Sun, tweeted about the same. Co-star Milk Pansa, who will play as Ongsa, has also posted photos from the fitting day. Rumors are afloat that View Benyapa & June Wanwimol will be playing the supporting couple, alongside My School President couple, Gemini Norawit & Fourth Nattawat.

Beyond The Star

MFlow Entertainment recently released the pilot trailer for their mega project “Beyond The Star”. Starring actors Tae Natthapat, Chanakan Daungjan, Pan Jirachot, Llouis Kitawat, Bank Chanwut, Plai Chattrin, Beam Atichart, and Bigboss Woraphon in lead roles, “Beyond The Star” is a collaboration between major production houses like MFlow Entertainment, Kantana, 9NAA Production, and Jinloe Media. The show is expected to premiere in the second half of 2023.

Synopsis-

The story of KJ Agency, a well-known agency plans to create and produce a series. Including the artists development therefore gathering young people who have dreams Join the “Beyond The Star” project to develop capabilities in all aspects of the entertainment industry, but on the process to become a superstar. There will always be obstacles. Love, commitment, or dreams, which ones are more important?

After Sundown

Very Great Official has unveiled the poster and trailer for ZeeNunew’s upcoming horror movie, “After Sundown”. Adapted from the novel “Dap Saeng Rawi” (ดับแสงรวี) by CEO, the film is directed by Bhandit Thongdee and will be released in Thai theaters on July 20, 2023. After Sundown is Zee Pruk & Nunew Chawarin’s second project together after last year’s “Cutie Pie The Series”. There is no information about the film’s international release.

Synopsis-

Heeding the words of a fortune teller, Phloeng becomes engaged to Rawi, a boy from the countryside. Both enter into it reluctantly. Disbelieving the prophecy but appeasing his parents, Phloeng agrees to the arrangement on the condition that, should six months pass without the relationship deepening, he’ll call it off. Throughout his stay with Phloeng’s family, Rawi is haunted by a spirit. When he begins staying with Phloeng, however, the spirit is quiet. It soon becomes clear that whatever is haunting the house is focused entirely on Rawi.
