Netflix Drops Not One But Three Surprises: Man Suang, Young Royals S3 & After Sundown

Netflix was on a surprise giving spree yesterday with not one but three announcements, relative to some of the most anticipated releases in a long time.

Man Suang

This historical period romance which received rave reviews in Thailand as well as Cannes 2023 will finally have an international premiere. Directed by Pond Krisda, the mystery thriller stars “KinnPorsche” actors Apo Nattawin & Mile Phakphum in the lead roles of Khem & Chatra. The film is inspired by real events, dating back to the reign of King Rama III and also includes actors Tong Thanayut, Bas Asavapatr. Streaming on Netflix from 29th February, 2024.

Synopsis-

Khem and Wan, two young men from Chachoengsao take on the mission to investigate the truth hidden inside “Man Suang”, the most luxurious and mysterious entertainment club in Siam. Behind the curtain, people gather to plan and make political negotiations during the end of King Rama III’s reign. The two friends join the troupe and meet Chatra, a taphon musician. The relationship between the three develops while the dark secret of Man Suang and their hidden motives begin being revealed bit by bit. This mission, thus, involves murder, rebelion, the search for truth, and a major change for both the kingdom and the three men.

After Sundown

For avid fans who were awaiting the release of Zee Pruk (Phloeng) and NuNew Chawarin’s (Rawi) horror themed movie “After Sundown”, we got some good news. The movie is now available on Netflix. Adapted from the novel “Dap Saeng Rawi” (ดับแสงรวี) by CEO, the film is directed by Bhandit Thongdee and is Zee Pruk-Nunew Chawarin’s second project together after the 2022 hit “Cutie Pie The Series”.

Synopsis-

Set in 1961, Saengrawi Raemsawang lived with Luang Lung Janthakorn until he turns twenty-one and is sent to live at Sitthikornkan Castle in Phra Nakhon. The castle is owned by Phraphloeng, currently living abroad. Heeding the words of a sage, Phloeng’s parents urge him back to Thailand. About to turn twenty-five, a prophecy requires him to soon find his soulmate to secure his safety; they may not be a woman, nor born in Phra Nakhon. Throughout his stay with Phloeng’s family, Rawi is plagued by nightmares and haunted by a spirit. When he begins staying close to Phloeng, however, the spirit is quiet. It soon becomes clear that whatever is haunting the house is focused entirely on Rawi.

Young Royals S3

Last but not the least, Netflix ended the day with the first look visuals for the much anticipated Swedish romance, “Young Royals S3”. Amassing a global following, the regal love story between Prince Wilhelm (Edvin Ryding) and his commoner love interest, Simon (Omar Rudberg) is set to premiere in March, 2024. Penned by Lisa Ambjörn, the upcoming sequel is the season finale and will see the conclusion to their impossible love story. The visuals do paint a happy ending, with Wilhelm & Simon standing in front of the Queen inside the Palace, smiling solemnly at each other. No official date has been announced yet, but we could be looking at an early release.
