GMMTV sprung a BL bonanza in the second edition of their “Up & Above” 2024 Lineup. After conclusively disclosing 9 BL/1 GL drama in Part I, the tech giant has announced 6 additional BL dramas coupled with a fresh GL project. The currently airing programs from Part I include “We Are Series” and “Only Boo Series” with “Wandee Goodday” set to premiere in May. “My Love MixUp”, “Kidnap Series”, “Pluto Series” are in various stages of filming/production. This brings the total to 15 BL dramas & 2 GL shows scheduled for 2024. No wonder, GMMTV had to divide the lineup into two parts. Let’s take a look at the exclusives from last night!

Ossan’s Love

A rustic remake of the 2018 Japanese classic “Ossan’s Love”, the show was announced in the first edition of the GMMTV lineup. The romantic comedy focuses on Haruta, a 33-years-old single man who isn’t popular with women. He works at a real estate office and is hapless at doing daily chores. One day, Ryota, his roommate and Kurosawa Musashi, his boss, both confess their feelings to Haruta. The popular franchise had veteran actors like Tanaka Kei, Hayashi Kento and Yoshida Kotaro playing the lead roles. In the Thai version, Earth Pirapat & Mix Sahaphap Wongratch will be reprising the roles played by Tanaka Kei & Hayashi Kento. There was a lot of anticipation about the actor reprising Yoshida Kotaro’s Kurosawa. With a pilot release, it was revealed that Krit Shahkrit will be reprising the role as Chakrit. Directed by Au Kornprom Niyomsil, the show might premiere soon.

The Heart Killers

One of the most surprising announcements last night, “The Heart Killers” stars two prominent BL pairings from the GMMTV camp. Directed by Jojo Tichakorn, who is famous for helming ensemble castings (Never Let Me Go, Only Friends”), the drama will be pitting First Kanaphan- Khaotung Thanawat’s magic against Joong Archen-Dunk Natachai’s easy charm.

Synopsis-

It follows the story of a tattoo artist, Kan, who is tasked by the police to dig into the mysterious killings of businessmen and politicians. Kan tails the two assassin brothers, Fadel and Bison, who also run a restaurant. Things take a turn when Kan finds himself falling for Bison. Meanwhile, Fadel gets caught with a car mechanic named Style.

Director Jojo Tichakorn tweeted last night that “The Heart Killers” is a loose adaptation of Shakespeare’s famous work “The Taming of Shrew” and also draws inspiration from the teen romance “10 Things I Hate About You”.

Perfect10 Liners

Force Jiratchapong & Book Kasidet’s shows sell like hot cakes. GMMTV just loves pairing them up and these two are back with “Perfect10 Liners”. Starting with “Enchanté”, they were paired repeatedly in last year’s comic hit “A Boss and a Babe”. Their next sexual romp “Only Friends” became a worldwide phenomenon, so ForceBook’s popularity is a given. “Perfect10 Liners” has an ensemble casting that includes the “Dangerous Romance” pairing Perth Tanapon & Chimon Wachirawit alongside the “Cherry Magic Thai” duo Junior Panachai & Mark Jiruntanin. Adapted from Jittarain’s novels, ‘Witsawakam Presart’, ‘Witsawa Gun-yotha’, and ‘Witsawa Kap Faifa’, the drama focuses on engineering students and their individual love stories.

Us The Series

GMMTV is certainly catering to their GL fans. With their currently on-air Girls’ Love drama “23.5” making waves on Netflix, and “Pluto Series” in the pipeline, the tech giant has announced a third project in making. Adapted from the novel “Us: Our Love” (US : รักของเรา) by Chao Planoy (เจ้าปลาน้อย), “Is The Series” stars Bonnie Pussarasorn & Emi Thasorn in the lead roles. This project will be helmed by Fon Kanittha who was also involved in the making of “23.5”.

Synopsis-

Dokrak has a secret crush on her brother Kawi’s girlfriend, Pam. Kawi has been using Dokrak’s paintings to woo Pam. Shockingly, Pam discovers the truth and breaks up with Kawi. Thus, begins Dokrak & Pam’s journey of love.

Thame – Po Heart That Skips a Beat

For fans who have been discreetly shipping Est Supha with William Jakrapatr, GMMTV has made your dream come true. Apart from Est, the remaining cast which includes William Jakrapatr, Lego Rapeepong, Hong Pichetpong, Nut Thanat & Tui Chayatorn are members of the biy group LYKN (ไลแคน) signed under GMMTV (จีเอ็มเอ็มทีวี) and Riser Music (ไรเซอร์มิวสิค).

Synopsis-

When Po is tasked with documenting boy group Mars’ final concert before their disbandment, he inadvertently becomes the closest confidant of leader Thame. Thame’s about to make his debut in South Korea, leaving the rest of the group behind.

Director Mui Aticha tweeted saying that the project has been in making for 5 years. She had trouble finding appropriate casts for the storyline, until she finally found LYKN and Est.

Revamp: The Undead Story

Previously titled “The Vampire Project”, Studio Wabi Sabi’s original work has been totally revamped by GMMTV. Renamed as “Revamp: The Undead Story”, the show stars Boun Noppanut & Prem Warut in lead roles. Boss Chaikamon has replaced by Kay Lertsittichai who will be starring alongside Santa Pongsapak, Stamp Panachkorn, Luke Peemsan & Mark Jiruntanin.

Synopsis-

Punn, a vintage shop owner unknowingly gets entangled with Ramil, the last descendant of the vampire lineage and a group of vampires who serve him.

Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist

Another pairing that fans have been cheering about, “Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist” stars Mark Pakin (“Only Friends”) opposite Ohm Thipakorn (“A Boss and a Babe”). Adapted from an original work by author Jittirain, the novel will be released in June by GMMTV. The show is being produced by Aof Noppharnach and helmed by Pepzi Banchorn (who previously directed “KinnPorsche Series”)

Synopsis-

Son is a university student, who is struggling to make ends meet. Unable to afford a dentist for his toothache, Son gets his tooth checked by the dental student, Dr.Jay following his friend Kak’s suggestion. As their sessions progress, Jay tries different ways to win Son’s heart.

The Ex-Morning

The biggest surprise of the evening was the reunion of the “SOTUS” stars Krist Perawat & Singto Prachaya. Singto left GMMTV in April 2021. He worked as a freelancer for a while doing solo projects like “Baker Boys”, “Paint with Love” and “Shadow” before returning to GMMTV again in 2024. Meanwhile, Krist starred in the time travel romance “Be My Favorite” opposite Gawin Caskey. Both stars will be reuniting for the “Exes to Lover’s” romance “The Ex-Morning”.

Synopsis-

Pathapi, a renowned reporter with a brash attitude, must redeem his tarnished reputation. His challenge intensifies when he encounters a new producer, Tamtawan, who happens to be his former boyfriend. As they navigate working together, will old flames reignite?
