Tokyo Cowboys To Hold Test Screening For “Aichaku” on 4th May

Japanese production company Tokyo Cowboys is looking for 5 guests to attend a special test screening of the 2024 Gay Romance/BL Japanese feature film “Aichaku”!

Aichaku, a 2024 Japanese gay romance/BL film made by Tokyo based production company Tokyo Cowboys (The Benza, Getting Dirty in Japan), is nearly complete and is looking for fans of the genre to attend a free test screening of the film!

Test screening will be held in Nakano-Ku of Tokyo, Japan. Applicants must be able to attend the screening in-person and be willing to write a review after the screening is complete. Main cast members as well as both directors Raito Nishizaka and Michael Williams will be in attendance and available before and after the screening to answer questions.

Filmed entirely on location in Chiba and Ibaraki, Japan, “Aichaku” takes a step back from the bright lights and business of Tokyo to show a slower, more intimate side of Japan. Shot over a three-month period during the summer of 2023, “Aichaku” visually and sonically truly is a perfect backdrop for slow burn summer love story.

Though Screenplay writer and Producer McCombs largely based the script on his personal experiences living in Japan for the past fifteen years, “Aichaku” has one foot based in reality and the other based in the fantastic, heart filled world of BL movies.

Story

American expat Lucas works at a small, struggling English language school in the countryside of Chiba, Japan and is doing what it takes to make ends meet with his meager salary. Over the course of three days, Lucas and Ken meet and help each other realize how important it is to have people and places to attach yourself to.

Quotes from the Crew

Christopher McCombs, Producer, Writer, Star

From our first rehearsals back in April 2023, Christopher Nishizawa and I knew right away that “Aichaku” was going to be a very special movie full of laughter, thoughtfulness, and love. I really hope that you will join us for the test screening and fall in love with the world of Aichaku as much as Chris and I, as well as the rest of the staff and cast, did while we were filming it. I’m a big fan of BL movies, I can’t wait to share Aichaku with the BL community!

Michael Williams, Director

While making “Aichaku”, we did our best to include not only a love filled BL setting, but also include real world social commentary. As far as LGBTǪ cinema goes, we think we have done something extremely new and exciting, by showing a brand new side of Japan where you’ll learn just as much about the country as the characters.

Raito Nishizaka, Director

“Aichaku” is a love story that tells the tale of an American and a Japanese man. Just as the script was written by a gay male, we decided that it would be best to have two directors on this project to preserve the viewpoints of both of our main characters. With myself representing the Japanese viewpoint and Michael Williams from England representing the viewpoint of a foreigner, we feel like we have done everything we can to preserve the heart and feeling of each of the characters you will meet in “Aichaku”.
