Seoul Blues

SUKFILM are on a roll, after “Blue Boys” & “Bad Guy”, they have announced their next ventures. Starring Jeong Riu (Bad Guy) and Choi Seungjin (Blue Boys), “Seoul Blues” will premiere in August.

Eyes On You

Hong Kong based production house, Jupiter Entertainment (“Stay Still”) have announced a collaboration with Thailand based company, BYTE for their upcoming BL drama “Eyes On You”.

Jack & Joker: U Steal My Heart!

Promotions are in full swing for War Wanarat & Yin Anan’s upcoming romcom “Jack & Joker: U Steal My Heart!”. With the official poster release, the show is scheduled to premiere on IQIYI starting September 9. The show has an ensemble casting which includes popular actors like Prom Ratchapat, Bonz Nadol Lamprasert & Mark Siwat.

Synopsis-

Fate brings two men together in a love-hate relationship. Joker leads a double life. Boastful and talented in conversation, he is secretly a notorious thief wanted by the police. Using his exceptional disguise skills, Joker robs wealthy oppressors and redistributes their riches to aid struggling villagers. On the other side is Jack, an 18-year-old former substitute taekwondin turned debt collector. With a calm and quiet demeanor, Jack instills fear in those he encounters. Despite his intimidating presence, he is a reasonable man who believes in solving problems without force and holds the conviction that “the strength one possesses should be used only to protect the weak.”

Affair The Series

“Affair The Series” is set to premiere on IQIYI, from 30 August. Adapted from the novel “Affair” (AFFAIR : รักเล่นกล) by Chao Planoy (เจ้าปลาน้อย), the show stars Sonya Saranphat & Lookmhee Punyapat as leads.

Synopsis-

I’m Phleng. I was born with a perfect life, but it turned up-side-down very quickly after my family went bankrupt. Life wasn’t too bad when I had my childhood friend Wanwiwa who was raised alongside me. For some unfortunate reason, however, I had to walk away. Love in the Big City

The most anticipated movie adaptation of the year, “Love in the Big City” is gearing up for its theatrical release on on October 2. Starring popular actors Kim Go Eun & Steve Noh in lead roles, the film is based on the novel “Love in the Big City” (대도시의 사랑법) by Park Sang Young (박상영).

Synopsis-

Characterized by her sharp tongue and daring attitude, Jae Hee is always at the center of gossip and hateful rumors. Meanwhile, Heung Soo is set on keeping his gay identity a secret for life. One day, in the back alley of a hotel, Jae Hee discovers Heung Soo’s secret by chance. Contrary to Heung Soo’s worries, Jae Hee keeps his secret and even helps him in a critical moment. As the two misfits begin to rely on each other, they secretly move in together and attempt to find love in the prejudiced world they live in.

Viêt and Nam

Directed by Trương Minh Quý, the movie stars Phạm Thanh Hải & Đào Duy Bảo Định in lead roles. Just before its premiere at Cannes,Viêt and Nam was banned by Vietnam’s Cinema Department for its “gloomy, deadlocked, and negative view” of the country. Although it tells a story specific to the place and its history, the film’s ambiguity and artistic approach render it an emotional, universal, and timeless exploration of the senses. Beautifully shot on 16mm by filmmaker Trương Minh Quý, Viêt and Nam is like panning for gold. Its true value surfaces after you dig and let the water wash away the dirt.

Synopsis-

Amidst the darkness 1,000 metres underground sparkles an intimate romance between Viêt and Nam in this mystical story of two young miners in search of a brighter future.

A group of soot-covered men stand chest to chest as they descend on a shabby lift down to near-complete darkness, where they toil away like machines. Though the mine feels like a space of confinement at first, it’s a place of liberty for Viêt and Nam. Here, the pair can freely express their romantic feelings in intimacy. But regrettably, the young men are due to part as Nam prepares to move abroad for better opportunities. Fortunately, there is some time before they separate. First, Nam intends to accompany his mother who is set on finding the remains of Nam’s father, who never returned from the war in the 1970s.

Set during a time of change and healing in the aughts, the aftermath of war haunts Viêt and Nam while shaping their futures. Their exchanges of bodily secretions seem to merge them into one being, while their uncanny resemblance visually mirrors the pain, longing, and uncertainty of the past, present, and future.

Kidnap Series

While awaiting the trailer release, check out new stills from “Kidnap Series”. Starring Ohm Pawat opposite rookie actor, Leng Thanaphon, the show has been in news since it’s announcement. Recently, GMMTV released an official statement that Ohm Pawat and Nanon Korapat have choosen to cease their work as pair to focus on their individual careers. The announcement was met with resistance by angry fans who have been protesting against their decision. It will be interesting to watch, how this show will be received, once it premieres!
