This week was bonkers with a surreptitious downpour of exclusives and concerning news updates. We haven’t had a single moment to rest with the BL industry churning out more shows/dramas than we could catch up with. While the downpour doesn’t seem to cease for now, let’s catch up with upcoming Asian BLs/GLs on the block!
Eyes on You: The Series
Jupiter Entertainment have been consistently dropping hints for the upcoming venture “Eyes on You: The Series”. The show seems like a crime thriller and will be independently produced by Jupiter Entertainment. The filming will take place in Bangkok and the drama will be shot in Thai language.
Us The Series
Filming has begun for GMMTV’s upcoming Thai GL adaptation “US The Series”. Adapted from the novel “Us: Our Love” (US : รักของเรา) by Chao Planoy (เจ้าปลาน้อย), the show stars Bonnie Pussarasorn & Emi Thasorn Klinnium as main leads.
Love Casting
A new Taiwanese BL reality show has been unveiled. Titled “Love Casting”, the show has eight men, who in order to win the lead role in a BL drama will go on a summer journey of 7 days & 6 nights. They will take on BL script missions, to develop feelings and understandings. In the final confession scene, they must choose each other to perform the BL drama. The contestants vying for the top spot are Liao Yan Long (Adson), Chien Yi Chen, Robert Hung, Yi Gao, Fumi, Fu Jun Jie, Gao Guie, and Chris. The first two episodes are set to premiere at the Taiwan International Queer Film Festival on October 24.
A Perfect Match
A rookie office worker, a domineering boss, a heartbreaker, a bestie, and a wealthy heiress—what passionate drama will unfold on the tennis court?
The cast and crew for the upcoming Taiwanese BL drama “A Perfect Match” recently held blessing ceremony for the show which is currently in production. Stars You Shu Ting, Ricky Liu, Rainie Dun, and Du Wei Li in lead roles.
Polyethylene Terephthalate Season Two
Sequel to the 2023 Japanese BL “Polyethylene Terephthalate” announced. Titled “醒めたらどうせ忘れる夢でも”, the show is streaming on ATTO(6)scrawll YouTube Channel. Starring Shigeoka Ryu & Asai Hinata in lead roles.
Love in the Big City
Promotions are in full swing for the upcoming Korean BL adaptation “Love In The Big City” in the midst of ongoing protests by conservative groups to immediately cancel plans to air the drama, claiming it glorifies and promotes homosexuality. They are demanding a halt to the drama’s broadcast. Adapted from the novel by Park Sang Young, the show stars Nam Yoon Su and Lee Soo Kyung. Set to premiere on Viki, with all episodes dropping on October 21.

Baban Baban Ban Vampire
Just days after the official poster and trailer was unveiled for the anime version, the live-action movie has been announced. The film stars Ryo Yoshizawa as Mori Ranmaru, a 450-year-old vampire who works at a public bathhouse to protect the virginity of 15-year-old Rihito (Rihito Itagaki) alongside Nanoka Hara as Aoi. Set to release on 14th February, 2025.

Hagiwara Riku and Todo Hinata will star in Kitamura Takumi’s directorial debut “Sekai Seifuku Yameta” alongside Iura Arata. The movie is inspired by a song of the same name by the late rapper Fukashigi/wonderboy.

Petrichor Series
Individual stills released for the upcoming thriller “Petrichor The Series”. Starring Charlotte Austin & Engfa Waraha as main leads alongside the supporting couple, Na Napat & Max Nattapol. Set to premiere on 23rd November.
Synopsis-
The first field deployment of Lieutenant Tul, a rookie officer assigned to the Criminal Investigation Department, unexpectedly brings her face-to-face with Dr. Cherran, a physician from the Institute of Forensic Sciences. Their differing work attitudes create a considerable gap between them, making it challenging to find common ground. oneD ORIGINAL has released a sneak peek of the upcoming adaptation “Spare Me Your Mercy” as a part of their 2025 lineup. Adapted from the novel “Euthanasia” (การุณยฆาต) by Sammon (แซมม่อน), the show stars Tor Thanapob & JJ Krissanapoom as leads.
Synopsis-

Blue Canvas of Youthful Days
The long awaited re-release of the Chinese adaptation “Blue Canvas of Youthful Days” is finally here. Previously released on IQIYI in August, it was removed from IQIYI after 4 episodes. The drama is set to premiere on GagaOOLa starting 26th October, with two episodes released each week.
Knock Out The Series
WeTV Thailand in collaboration with DeeHup House have announced their next project “Knock Out The Series”. Adapted from the novel “Knockout” (Knockout หมัดน็อกล็อกหัวใจ) by Dawin (ดวินทร์), the show stars Gunner Natsakan and Nice Boripat in lead roles.

Some Nights I Feel Like Walking
Petersen Vargas who shot to fame with the Pinoy BL “Hello Stranger” is back with his latest movie “Some Nights I Feel Like Walking”. Ahead of its world premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival this November, the official trailer has been released. The film follows a group of young street hustlers navigating Manila’s nocturnal underbelly as they embark on a journey to fulfill their friend’s dying wish. The movie stars Jomari Angeles, Tommy Alejandrino, Gold Aceron, alongside newcomers Miguel Odron and Argel Saycon in lead roles. The narrative traces the bonds formed between these characters against the backdrop of Manila’s nighttime streets and the open roads of the Philippines, while exploring queer desires and found families.

Go For It, Nakamura
The key visual and teaser PV for the upcoming Japanese BL “Go For It, Nakamura” was unveiled at the “New York Comic Con 2024” event happening in New York, USA. Crunchyroll will be be streaming the series. Aoi Umeki, will be in charge of direction, screenplay, and character design. The production will be done by the up-and-coming animation studio Drive.
Synopsis-
“Go For It, Nakamura” is a BL love comedy about a shy high school boy, Okuto Nakamura, who goes wild and delusional around his unrequited crush. The story of Nakamura-kun meeting and falling in love with his classmate Aiki Hirose is depicted in a style reminiscent of the 80s and 90s.
